Quest Complete!
2 Quest Points
5000 Constitution XP
5000 Magic XP

A Copy of Zona's notes (for the lorehounds)
Increased capacity of your "Notes" tab to 40 (up from 30)

After the quest you can return to Ashdale and talk to the policeman at your Aunt and Uncle's house to find that Zona's parents (your aunt and uncle) are not actually dead, but are hospitalized in critical condition. The Ashdale policeman says that their chances are "50/50".

Problem #1: the idea of a "family" (Actual relatives) can break the immersion.
so it would need to be a generic family ... not the player's

Problem #2: the reward. you can't have 5k slayer xp reward on an F2P quest.
You could have it as a follow up reward for something
you could have it awarded as bxp
otherwise, the quest would need to be p2p for that kind of a reward

The player's family has already been referenced in-game here and there. Runescape is an RPG, which means that the player has a role to play, and needs an in-game backstory, and thus, I really don't see this being an issue.

However, this could be changed to a generic family if that change was necessary for implementation. The family needs to have a connection to the player in order for the story to flow properly, although it could easily be changed to a second or third cousin.

Thanks for pointing out that typo: it should have been magic XP

What I liked:

I liked that the quest adds more content and narrative to Ashdale. The island currently lacks meaningful content, and its lore is severely underdeveloped.

What I thought could be improved:

Characters

I agree with Deltaslug that the concept of including relatives of the player’s character is problematic. It may be tempting to believe that the idea would make the story more personal and believable if implemented. However, the opposite is actually true. The designation of certain NPCs as relatives of the player’s character would create an inherent contradiction between the expectation of familiarity and the reality of encountering completely unknown characters. As Deltaslug stated, it would break the immersion.

Another point is that the quest involves the addition of new characters to Ashdale. Many existing characters whose backgrounds have not been explored already reside on the island, and I would like to see the potential of these characters realised before new characters are added.

Lore

My last point involves the fact that the quest incorporates lore from OSRS. While RS3 and OSRS share a large amount of lore, the two games also possess significant canonical differences which, among other factors, distinguish each game as separate and independent from the other.

At RuneFest 2018, Mod Jack responded to the question, “Which is canon, RS3 or Old School?” Here is a transcript of his response:

“So, we’re still developing this, but our answer to this question at the moment is: they’re different interpretations of the same story, so events might play out slightly differently, but it’s the same world.”

The response by Mod Jack reinforces the view that the canon of each game is indeed independent from that of the other. According to this perspective, canon from OSRS therefore need not be replicated in RS3, and vice versa.

TL;DR

I think that Ashdale should definitely be developed further in both content and narrative. I think that a quest set in Ashdale should focus on the characters already present, and I don’t think that these characters should share a background with the player’s character. I also disagree with the notion of lore borrowed from OSRS being included in RS3.

I highly recommend checking out Mod Crow’s Good Suggestion Guide. It outlines the factors that influence whether a suggestion will receive further attention from Jagex.

Thanks for reading my long post, and I hope that my feedback was useful.

I thank you for the time it took you to make that critique.

I have read the good suggestion guide, and I wrote the quest summary with that in mind.

Ideally, characters already on Ashdale would be repurposed to be the player's family. (Or alternatively distant family/family friends. The player needs to have a connection to these people for the plot to work properly)
Also, when looking at the good suggestion guide, the purpose of these characters is to fill a need, specifically the player's own backstory. However, these characters are introduced at the cousin-level to keep the story from being too intrusive.

You may feel that there is no need to import OSRS Lore into RS3, but there is also no reason NOT to do so. It's just an opinion. A lot of things that OSRS has would be a lot of fun in RS3, and I think it would be a huge mistake not to import them, especially since the development work is already (at least) partially done.
Not to mention that we need Zeah to unlock Fossil Island, which is promised content to RS3.

And finally:

It's the same world, so a gigantic content like Zeah really shouldn't be something we can overlook. That said, the story is playing out differently, or else my suggestion would literally have been to copy+paste Client of Kourend.
(Which would not be bad by any means, but we can do better)

To Start:
Talk to Gypsy Aris. She has detected an strange presence somewhere in Misthalin and asks the player to investigate, as she doesn't know whether it is good or evil. Gypsy Aris will give you a talisman attuned to the strange presence and a Guthixian Sigil.

(1) Follow the talisman
to Draynor Village, where a Guthix look-alike (looks like Guthix's human form) will be waiting for you in the bank.

(2) Talk to the Guthix look-alike
and go through all of the options, to learn that this "person" has not been on Gielinor for a long time. The look-alike will then ask for your help in maintaining the balance of power between Gods and the Adventurer's Union (aka Jagex Mods). The mods have taken the "cycle guardian" into custody, unknowing that their actions could cause the universe to destabilize. Your character will at first be scared to go up against the mods, but the look-alike has a plan: Since Jagex moderators always have a gold crown when they speak, you can't be able to speak or else your cover will be blown. Your character will ask how you can avoid speaking, and then realize that that's what mimes do.

(3)
If you don't already have it,
purchase the mime outfit
from Thessalia's Fine Clothes in Varrock.
