Aim:

Create an item sink while rewarding participants purely with high coin drops according to skill and effort. This mini game will also create a gold sink for those who wish to push end game,
including gear aimed at level 93 and beyond – even if it means breaking 99 and entering 120 for magic, ranged, attack and strength.

Schedule:

The mini game commences every 4 hours starting from reset time and lasts 3 hours. Players may join in anytime they want within the three hours and play as long as they like.

Location:

Space formerly occupied by Mobilizing Armies. All teleports linked there shall be renamed ‘Faction War’.

Requirements:

Players who like skilling and/or combat. There is no quest requirement, though Sliske’s End Game is recommended to understand the synopsis, which is derived from the quest’s lore.

Number of Players:

A maximum of 200 players per faction with a minimum of 0 player per faction. All sessions start on the aforementioned clock regardless of number of players participating on 1 instanced server. In other words, the mini game does not wait just like World Events 1 and 2 and Warbands mini game.

Each faction uses an NPC ranking system, with each rank allowing a fixed number of NPCs, all except the lowest rank, whose number substitutes for the lack of players in that faction. Should a player join, one of the lowest ranked NPC will die at random to allow entry.

Risk:

This is a safe mini game but all gear (including non-degradable gear outside this mini game) used here will degrade. Gear degrades much faster also with accumulated deaths as players cannot pay Death to resurrect for coins.

Synopsis:

Having failed to pit the Gods against one another thanks to the destruction of the Stone of Jas at the hands of the dragonkin, Sliske schemes once again to bring anarchy amongst the Gods. In doing so he will need YOUR unwilling assistance, by using your soul he has possessed before his apparent death.

Under Sliske’s subtle influence, you unconsciously reveal that while the Stone of Jas has been destroyed, its pieces when combined, will retain the stone’s original power – and YOU hold 3 of 27 (total number of skills) pieces; namely, the catalytic fragments. However, this time, the stone’s connection with the dragonkin has been lost forever, rendering them free to let anyone do as they please with the stone.

Although you yourself does not know this, Sliske also hints that a few of the remaining pieces are getting assembled in the Mobilising Army castle, which has mysteriously sunk, not beneath the waters this time, but in an unexplained pool of shadow (of course, one of Sliske’s antics). Here, the god of a victorious faction will be able to seize a piece (or more if lucky) of the stone for him or herself.

Consequently, most of the gods on the scoreboard are back in the game again for the Stone of Jas pieces with YOU as players, being the center of importance. These factions include:

Saradomin

Zamorak

Armadyl

The Graardorians (Remnants of Bandos)

The Godless (Remnants of Guthix)

Zaros

Seren

Sliske (The followers of Sliske rejoice their ‘God’ is still alive. Of course, what they don’t know is he’s merely possessing the player’s soul, which is WONDERFUL news <sarcasm of course>, and materialized only briefly to initiate this ‘Faction War’ mini game. While the followers realize Sliske really has no need for the stone, except to cause conflict for his own amusement, which he is now doing, they too want in on the drama)

How to Play:

For Combatants:

To Start:

Players may start at any one of 8 faction camps once the mini game begins by entering the camp in the former Mobilizing Armies Castle area. Once inside, the player will be whisked away to the instance server hosting the mini game. Players will be warned before entering that once a faction is selected, he or she may not change factions nor reenter upon leaving until the current session is over.

The Armoury:

Within each encampment there is an armory, where players gear up for combat, and a rewards booth. Unlike other mini games, Stanley Limelight’s podium does not appear here as the mini game does not award Thaler. These are the core buildings out of all the other buildings Jagex wishes to add should they adopt my suggestion and is where players must go through before entering the battlefield.

Apart from whatever Jagex wishes to furnish the armory with, there are two main features: A bank booth with a soldierly looking banker in faction uniform behind it and a coffer with a sergeant positioned right next to it.

Here, players can choose to deposit equipment and consumable supplies into the coffer, which will be used in the faction’s dispenser beside the gate on the battlefield. As long as the player has food remaining inside the coffer, the dispenser on that player’s faction will provide it. Dispensers serve only players belonging to the faction its gate is in.

The mini game provides no provisions at all – everything must be supplied by the player via the coffer. Players will also receive an in-game warning that once deposited, the equipment and supplies cannot be taken out, and will remain inside the coffer until used up (consumables) or destroyed (equipment, which will follow a specific degradation rule in the mini game). The player cannot bring any item with him or her into the battlefield and must only use whatever he or she deposited into the coffer.

Coffer Interface and Rules:

The coffer can hold as many items as a bank but will only accept food, potions, familiar pouches and scrolls, enchanted combat related jewelry, ammunition, combat related pocket items, combat related sigils, armour and weapons. Any degradable item must be at 100% charge, new or augmented in order to be stored. However, be warned that if the augmented item is a degrade to dust, that item must be new or at 100% charges. In addition, augmented items will no longer use its own charge pack or the player’s charge pack once stored in the coffer since they will be subject to the mini game’s own degrade system. Also, the following armour and weapons are not allowed:

-> Warpriests except Sliske’s Parody

-> All quest and mini quest gear which are non tradable with the exception of sunspear, korasi sword, off hand Jessika’s sword, staff of Iban and all God staves from Mage Arena and Desert treasure quest.

-> Any weapon and armour from treasure hunter like lucky equipment.

-> Any event weapon and armour such as Raddalin’s sword, Slime Hunter
armour, Energized Arm cannon, Mystic Staff and Balthazaar’s Golden items etc.

-> Mini game armours, namely vanguard, trickster and battle-mage

-> Non-combat gear such as skilling outfits

-> Achievement items such as varrock armour

-> Cosmetic outfits that have no stat bonuses

-> Fun weapons such as flowers and rubber turkeys

-> Globe trotter outfit and Quest point shop armour

All other non-tradable gear are fine.

After players make a deposit, they can either talk to or right click on the sergeant, which will open an interface similar to the one opened with the smuggler during a dungeon within Daemonheim. Unlike the smuggler’s interface however, the sergeant’s interface will show a maximum of ten rows instead of three, though three is the maximum number of rows players may start with. The other seven are unlocked through the mini game’s point system via the rewards booth.

Furthermore, each row has ten slots – one slot for each slot on the equipped items interface, barring auras which is now no longer an item. Since items cannot be taken out of the coffer and are stuck inside the loadout interface, the only way to edit items inside a loadout bar is by doing what you do in Daemonheim – rearranging items already in the coffer between loadout bars or destroy the items (which will give you a message about them not being reclaimable) and replacing them with new items.

Starting the battle:

Afterwards the player can proceed to the battlefield whenever the player likes as long as he or she is within 2 hours after a session starts. When 2 hours are up, any player within the encampment but not on the battlefield will be booted out. On the battlefield, the mini game interface automatically displays the accessible rows seen at the sergeant. Players may click on the row to load whatever items they have placed into that row at the sergeant to wear that row’s complete loadout.

Affinity:

Above the screen within the interface, there are three boxes, each of which display a sword, bow and magic icon. Beside each icon is a small avatar, which will display an affinity equipment interface equipping only the head, chest, legs, boots and gloves when the avatar is hovered over by the player’s cursor.

This affinity is what the avatar boxes allude to. Any displayed item will receive a 50% extra boost to all of its original stats on the battlefield. The only exceptions to this are God faction related items, which will receive a 70% boost instead and any tier 92 gear, which will receive a 60% extra boost no matter what the avatar displays.

Enemy affinity, not weaknesses, to certain weapons and armour will change periodically, with the duration being proportional to the tier of the mentioned gear.

Every gear can be displayed at random, though all displayed gear shall be of the same class and tier unless the item in a set is lower tier than the rest (unique case being full dragonrider). Only the base, non-augmented and non-superior gear will be shown, but players can
still benefit from boosts when using items of other versions. Therefore, during affinity, a player wearing +5 full elder receives the same boost as +3 or base elder, a player using superior dragon receives same boosts as standard dragon even though the tier of equipment is different, and a player wearing augmented armadyl will receive the same boost as unaugmented armadyl.

The only gear that will never be displayed are tier 92 equipment as their 60% extra boost activates regardless of affinity and God items. When an affinity for God items occur, rather than a geared avatar, the boxes will simply replace the avatar with a message, ‘God Items’. Obviously, God Items not aligned to a wearer’s current faction will NOT receive any boost from a ‘God Items’ message.

God Items are namely:

Graardorian:

Any piece of the Bandos armour set
Bandos God sword
Kyzaj and all versions
Ancient mace and superior version
Any piece from Bandos related treasure trail gear

Saradomin:

Any piece of the Demon Slayer armour set
Saradomin God sword
Saradomin sword
Saradomin bow
Saradomin staff
Saradomin necklaces from GWD1, barring Daemonheim upgrades (A special exception for you Saradomin, since all other non-God-aligned jewelry will never be displayed)
Any piece from Saradomin related treasure trail gear

Zamorak:

Any piece of the Subjugation robe set
Any piece of the Anima Core of Zamorak set and all versions
Zamorak God sword
Zamorakian spear, barring Chaotic Spear
Twin fury blades
Zamorak bow
Zamorak staff
Any piece from Zamorakian related treasure trail gear

Armadyl:

Any piece of the Armadyl armour set
Armadyl God sword
Armadyl Crossbows
Armadyl Battlestaff
Any piece from Armadylean related treasure trail gear

Zaros:

Any piece of Torva, Virtus and Pernix
Any piece of the Anima Core of Zaros set
and all variants
Virtus Wand and Book
Zaryte bow
Any piece from Zarosian or ancient related treasure trail gear
Ancient staff and all variations
Dragon Rider Lance

Seren:

Any piece of tier 80 attuned crystal weapons and armour, barring non-attuned
Any piece of the Anima Core of Seren set and all variants
Wand and Orb of the Cywir

The Godless:

Guthix bow
Guthix staff
Any piece from Guthix related treasure trail gear
Any piece of Third Age gear from treasure trails

Sliske:

Any piece from the Sliske’s parody set and all versions, plus, this set’s effect with other warpriests can trigger here as well.
Shadow Glaives
Any piece of barrows armour and weapon

Note:

Oh sorry, did you expect the Staff of Sliske, Seren God bow, Wand and Orb of the Praesul and Zaros God Sword to be god items as well? Of course, they are; therefore, they should receive a 75% boost on top of the existent 60% boost during God Item affinity, but, you see, I’m afraid the world doesn’t work that way. These items will be classified under t92 gear and won’t receive the 75% boost during any God Item affinity.

Weaknesses:

Each enemy also retains the weaknesses of enemies found outside the mini game. Unlike affinities which occur across the entire battlefield, weaknesses are dependent on units (in the case of npcs) and combat style (in the case of both npcs and players). In other words, the most effective method to kill a minion weak to water would be to use water spells while equipping the armour and weapon mentioned in the message box for magic, equipping a full set of Anima Core Seren when the player is aligned to Seren during ‘God Items’ affinity or equipping t92 magic armour and weapon.

Battlefield Rules

On the battlefield, each faction will have several ranks (to be decided upon) of NPC fighters from a variety of races and war machines appropriate to the faction, with each rank having a fixed number of NPCs except the lowest rank which can have numbers substituted for by players. All coins and a mini game specific currency ‘Combatant Commendations’ are awarded based on the damage contribution a player makes to a unit before death and the type of enemy killed.

Rather than being stored in the inventory or currency pouch however, they instead get tallied in the mini game tab beside the load out bar tab. This tally represents the total amount before modifiers are applied at the end of a session.

Each time a non-boss NPC is killed, players receive 1 gp per damage point he or she dealt to it before death, in other words, a player dealing a total of 7,000 damage to an NPC of 10,000 HP before it dies to other NPCS or players, will receive 7,000 gp.

Each time a player is killed, the killer receives 2 gp per damage point. However, for a player who out levels the player opponent, he or she will receive a (level difference*10) penalty to the coins received from that one kill. For a player who is lower level, he or she will receive a (level difference*10) bonus to the coins received from that one kill.

For each faction, the level and difficulty of all NPCs depend on the number of players and the average level of all participants within each faction but hit points will remain the same regardless. This means if all the high levels support one faction, they will have much harder NPCs to fight, have more competition for coins and will earn the same total number of coins as all other faction NPCs. Also, their own NPC support and war machines will be very weak.

Ranked NPCs above the lowest rank have only 1 life, but the lowest ranks and players can keep coming back, albeit with a time penalty similar to Soul Wars.

When all ranks other than the lowest rank and players have been annihilated, a faction’s champion (the boss) will appear in front of the faction’s wall to defend the gate. During this, cannons on the wall behind the champion will continue to blast the assailants even as the champion uses mechanics and special attack on the attackers. Furthermore, war machines, players and soldiers from all sides will continue the war in the area the champion is in. With every champion killed, killers receive 5 gp per damage point dealt to the champion before death. Champions may only spawn once per faction and may spawn at the same time as another faction’s champion, though, since the champions’ priority is to defend their gate, they won’t fight each other.

While the champion’s battle is ongoing, every factionother than the champion’s will send in rams to the gate. These rams are attackable by cannons, defending warriors and defending players as well as the boss itself. When they are destroyed, the rams will take time to be automatically replaced.

Destroying the gate to a faction’s camp (one containing the armoury etc.) will result in that faction’s instant defeat even if the champion stands, and points are awarded to the faction(s) that breaks the wall first. Should the wall be broken first, the champion automatically surrenders and retreats regardless of remaining hp, though all prior damage inflicted on the champion will be accounted for coin drops.

Deciding on a victor:

Faction points are awarded based on in order from best to worst:

Number of walls destroyed

Number of Champions killed

Number of ranked NPCs killed (highest points from highest ranks to lowest points at lowest ranks)

Number of war machines, including rams destroyed

Number of factions the faction(s) has outlived.

Note: Killing players award no points to prevent boosting by putting alts or friends on the other side to make them lose. Also, the number of points determine a faction placement for reward boosts at the end of a session and does not directly affect the amount of gold received. In other words, a faction with 10,700 points coming first place in one session, awards the same post game reward boost as a faction with 5,600 points coming first place in a completely different session.
