Now before people get the wrong idea let me explicitly state I don't mean we shouldn't do something about them.
What I am saying is simply banning them is the wrong approach. What we should do is treat botters as a community and then pack them up and ship them to a Quarantined world filled with cheaters just like them where they can remain there away from everyone else. They want to cheat and take short cuts? Well let them, just ship them off to their own cheat worlds with no way to return to normal worlds. Cheating in a world full of cheaters is going to lose its value in a world full of cheaters, isn't it? The important thing is they're quarantined off from the rest of the honest playing community that's all. As for atonement to return to regular worlds they should give up all wealth on them and in the bank. Trading from the outside worlds should be prohibited and their GE should be warded off too. Complete isolation is the goal. Minor offenders who get temporary bans should be sent to these worlds to serve their sentence and it can even be as a warning.

TL;DR
I think the banned account reinstatement was a great idea from Jagex.
They should bring it back but also banish those reinstated accounts to seperate worlds, segregate them. If they play for a year with good behavior then they can come back to regular worlds, if not they should stay there.

Jagex will decide if the rules are enforced on these worlds. Jagex can then make money off the cheaters while enforcing rules this way. It's simply good business, I don't see why Jagex shouldn't do it.

This idea was inpired by modern Devs in big franchises, go to: 3:20 and even 6:50...

Whatever their motivation, be it to eliminate the grind, take care of tedious tasks or even rwt, they can still do all that AND pay Jagex for it but ISOLATE them away from regular worlds.
That's the point I'm making here. I honestly don't care what they do as long as it doesn't affect me or the base game. If we qurantine them, regulars will never see them because it's impossible to be in the same world as them. So if they want to set up rwt for virtual currency in their own private worlds while paying Jagex for it, then that's what Captain Jack Sparrow would call savvy.

They will still do the same amount of damage to the economy before they are noticed. The moment they are noticed and are moved to the bot-only worlds, they loose their purpose and the people behind the bots will just make new accounts. Which is identical to the situtation now.
The bots mostly earn money by collecting stuff and selling it on the GE, if they're on bot-only worlds without a G.E., the bots are completely pointless and are practically banned anyway.

No support as it doesn't change a thing.
The RS Wiki needs a hand, and Bwian's will gladly take the rest of your body!
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

You might want to take a look into what RWT actually funds, I'm willing to bet you'd be surprised to find that it funds illegal activities in the real world in certain countries. The majority of bots aren't actual players doing it because they're lazy.

good idea. i used to admin a large game community and when we caught cheaters using hacks online we would flag their account and dump them into what we called the 'cheater server' where basically you only play with other hackers. it was funny because we never even told them, they just had to figure it out on their own. they would accuse each other of hacking until one guy blatantly did it, then they would all start blatantly doing it against each other. eventually they would figure out on their own they were in the cheater world. and the rest of the gaming community was free from them ruining their games. so i think it's an effective idea, although i would do other things like make stat gain 1/5 the rate of real game. @@@ @@@

Oh your idea is genius. If we move them to cheat worlds without telling them, they'll likely become very confused why they can't hop worlds to trade or maybe make world hopping an illusion which will make meet ups for rwt impossible. Implenting XP penalities and other slights to penalize them is a good idea too. Could make subtle changes to the cheat world to penalize them further but also so they don't really notice they''ve been sealed off from the rest of the worlds. Now if they don't know they've been banned it will stop them from making entirely new accounts to try and circumvent BotWatch all together. At the very least it buys time until they figure out they've been banned. But I think that's the beauty of it, they get banned and don't even know it.
I really think changing the ban system to a banish system is a smarter move in the long run.

Nah they'll have a GE but it's restricted to banned worlds.
Also I'd disagree. Jagex keeps paying customers while seperating them from protected worlds, so it's pratically having your cake and eating it too. These shadow banishments means the botters won't even know they got banned, to them everything is running smoothly which is a far better approach because with botters the tactic is to never bot on an account you don't want to lose, and if a farm bot gets banned make a new account, rinse and repeat. Banning them has no meaningful impact in the end. They're cannon fodder. So banning them doesn't help if it did it would have discouraged and stopped botting long ago.
Instead Jagex has to deal with ever more evolving bots. Be better to not let the owner know they've been banned and send them away to qurantined worlds because they wouldn't know. Everything on their end will look normal. Of course I'm sure you'll start to get odd complaints in the forums and on reddit. They'll be so confused they won't even know they've pratically been trolled.
