OOC:

Okay so, this thread is me asking if anyone/group owns Canifis IC'ly at this time. If no one currently has ownership of the town, then my character will happily take it. My goal is to stimulate RP in Mory considering it's dead beyond belief.

UPDATE: Alcaeus has taken leadership of Canifis, and has started rallying other werewolves to join him in his cause.

IC:

The werewolf sat in the dim lit abode he calls his home, staring at the wrinkled parchment in front of him, a brief paragraph in his native Canic language was scribbled upon it. He plucked the hand rolled cigar from his mouth as smoke lingered around the room, finishing it off with the bottom of his boot. The old dog squinted his aged eyes as he read:

"I, Alcaeus Atym Mora, shall rise up above the others and take what is rightfully mine. With a cold heart and an iron fist shall I restore power back to my people, my family. I will give my blood, time, and soul into keeping what we deserve. For us "dogs" will fear no more, but take pride in what we are. We will not feel shame or cowardice, but POWERFUL and FREE! Come my fellow brothers and sisters. Join me as we take our hometown back from the ungrateful, and thrive as a race once again!"

PS:

The little IC part of the thread was for fun. So really, if anyone would like to update me on the current status of Canifis, I'd appreciate it. :)

Last I heard, I think one of the members of the Kinshra had it. I'm not sure if that's since changed, but if it hasn't, feel free to use it! :) "Legacy. What is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see."

MORYTANIA IS DEAD
RIVER OF BLOOD WAS A DUMB QUEST AND I HATE YOU
Tbh I don't think anybody has shown interest in Canifis in a while. You're most likely clear to take it.

I don't know who owns it, but I do know it's my favorite place for barpee. Wild shit happens there. 8/8 would fight there more. The purpose of life is finding the largest burden that you can bear and then indeed bearing it.

I wasn't aware of anything going on in Morytania as of recent, and it'd certainly be interesting for Misthalin to have someone to look at warily through the fence. Tom ~ Player of Oliver II, King of Kandarin, Prince of Albamonte, Prince of Camelot, Keeper of the Legacy of Baxtorian and Vanguard of Armadyl.

I've always wondered, what really is the difference between our current system and land claims of the past?

If an area was inactive back then, you'd claim it and set up an RP there. This forced players to remain active to hold onto their RP's.

Now, if you go inactive on the same piece of land, people seem to still be able to 'claim' it in a way; it just seems the community is less official about being okay with others doing that.

The difference is that your name is no longer up in lights and we've culturally shifted more towards story and plot than land for land's sake. Now, this isn't universally true, and people will always argue otherwise, but in my years I have witnessed an attitude shift which is more concerned with story consistency. Before, people were more concerned with looking the most powerful by having the most places. Having served as a Land Claims admin on multiple occssions, I know from experience that this was the aim of many rather than of few.

Today it is a self regulating system, and it is better for it.

Further, on your activity point, the land claims system couldnt efficiently gauge and regulate. Once your name was on the list, they had to fight you for it. Then everyone would just call in their mates, like they still do today. Back then, it was protected by the system. Today, you can ignore warmongering packs of shitstirrers, and likewise you can ignore inactive claims.

A convenient thread showing who owned what.
