Soon we will create JMod accounts for the team - turns out the guy who creates JMod accounts has been away on holiday, bad timing on my part! :D

Welp, this dude's vacation has been going on for 6 months now.

Are we still to believe that these 2, uh, "JMods" are going to be getting their, well, "JMod" status or can we safely assume that things have gone sideways?

Just curious and all.

I guess the question at this point is when can we expect to see these 2 gold purple people eaters moving on from this place? Their contracts should be up at some point no?

It's not exactly like they've lived up to the hype Mod Cam promised... :|

If this happens in the future, I'm sure it will be properly communicated to you all by Jagex.

Also, as I've said time and time again, if you have any real, actionable suggestions on how the CM team could improve the experience of the RSOF for you or other players, or if you have any specific criticisms about the CM team you'd like us to address, we're always here to chat!

This is my suggestion to the CM moderators, since I know more than a few players who feel the same way I do.

Enforce the INTENT of the rules, not the LETTER OF THE LAW. What I mean by this is as follows: Please enforce what the rules were meant to accomplish, rather than simply looking at the surface when responding to reports. This, of course will take far more work on your end, but we, as players, would greatly appreciate it.

For instance, keep track of rule breakers, and how often you are responding to the same people, for the same things. Maybe those reports are instigated by the same people over and over again. The rules (in my opinion) were put in place to keep the forums civil, and to keep the discussion geared towards actually discussing legitimate ideas.

If you happen to see trends (same 2 or 3 accounts making threads that just so happen to get locked for flaming/flame baiting) act upon those trends. I for one am sick and tired of reporting the same people over and over again, and quite frankly, have given up.

Their minor infractions aren't able to warrant anything more than a hidden post, but over and over again? I think something more severe should happen.

I for one would start using forums more if the atmosphere changed. Currently, I get a toxic vibe as I page through the threads, and it's quite off-putting. I'm sure I am not the only player who feels this way.

Hey 4ev, thanks a lot for taking the time to leave your feedback/suggestions. It's much appreciated, and we courage you to do so whenever you wish.

For our enforcing of the intent of the rules: We certainly try to do this, and when reviewing reports, we try to look at all ends to the spectrum, and come to a conclusion on what the best course of action would be, if needed.

For example, there was a thread the other day where I had hidden one of your posts. While I didn't completely disagree with some of the sentiments, I do think the way it was phrased could've led to some toxicity/back-and-forth flaming, and as such, I felt it was necessary to hide the post. In retrospect, I think the better course of action would've been to have hidden the post, and re-posted/quoted it with some of the contents that I felt may have not added any positive benefits to the thread removed, but left the points that I thought did add productive conversational value. In addition to that, it would've been worthwhile to reach out to the OP directly to discuss the concerns that you had brought up. It really is on the moderator to use their best judgement, assess the situation as a whole, and take the appropriate action.

Keeping track of rule breakers, frequently reported users and those who repeatedly submit reports: We definitely keep a close eye on these users, and frequently review their posts/threads, and communicate with the FMods about these users. Obviously, at least for us LMods, we don't have all the time in the world to review every single post by every user, but there's always room for improvement. Forum Help reports do help with this however, as when one post is flagged, we generally review most of their recent posts. If we notice trends, it's our job to escalate these for further review.

We do prefer to avoid taking punitive action, but won't hesitate if it's justified.

I've taken note of your comments, and will take some time to review them once again.

Cheers! :)

@CM Brandon, thanks for responding.

This was in no way directed at you. I thought what you did was fine, had no qualm with my post being hidden, expected as much honestly. However, I don't like it when other players get baited into getting reported and ultimately banned, so I felt it was my duty to attempt to warn them.

All I can ask is that infractions no matter how minor are kept track of. If, for example, there were private forums, or even a shared excel document, you could have a quick tally next to names and types of offenses etc. (I envision a pivot table with username, and offense subcategories, with total values).

Just something to quickly refer back to. I'm not asking you to sift through a user's entire posting history on every report, simply moving forward, keep track in an efficient manner, that isn't an overly abundant amount of invested time.

Thanks for being open to the input, all I can ask for.
