Is spite voting a real thing? Many players complain that skillers/PvMers vote against PK updates out of spite. Players also complain that Jagex panders to the majority while ignoring it's minority of PK players. Is there anything we can do to try to prevent it?

It's a real thing and it's acknowledged by the majority of the playerbase as well as Jagex you just have some who want to try and pretend it doesn't exist because they want to continue spite voting.

Jagex is working on PvP only polls and determining what the requirements should be so it's just a matter of waiting now.

The definition of spite voting "you didn't vote for me so you have no reason I will accept."

The truth is, people vote for their own best interest. There is no reason that someone has to have a vote that is approved by the haters of the game.
Vote no to all pvm/pker updates to punish them for spite voting skills.

Yeah and that's why the polling system needs to go. People now vote for their own interest. They're not selfless like Gozz and I who who would vote for someone else's content. If everyone just grew the fuck up and quit being so self-centered, this game would end up much nicer. That's what's causing Jagex to give drop tables that piss everyone off even worse than they initially would have been.

PKers seem to be content with the game. However, skillers seem to hate it. I'd say that skillers are the haters of the game here.
L2PK nubnubs. Can't do that? L2escape nubnubs. Can't do that either? L2not enter the wilderness nubnubs.

Its funny how when a pker votes for his best interest its 'for the good of the game', where as when a skiller does so, its "spite voting". Vote no to all pvm/pker updates to punish them for spite voting skills.

I think the biggest example of spite voting is when there was a poll for making bear head helmet easier to re-obtain if you haven't finished the quest, or obtaining multiples, something like that. It would have been a nice QoL update, but bias against pures meant this little change never made it into the game.

While Jagex has a lot of bad ideas for the wilderness that legitimately don't deserve to go into the game, there's also a lot of good ones that don't get voted in due to a small, but not insignificant part of the community that has a distaste for any pvp-centered change.

A smaller, and very insignificant part of the community likes to attribute any failed pvp change to spite voting, however.

Yeah, because PKer updates never pass while skiller updates do. PKers also are competitive and are mandated to risk. Interesting correlation.
Don't spite vote all PvP updates because of how frightened you are of PKers and then cry about how everything needs to be shoved in as integrity

You forgot to mention something else. This community's highly self-centered and only cares about themself. Ironmen deal with spite voting too. The only difference is that they're backed up by the massive PvM community who would gladly support busted drop tables for the reason listed above.

It's such a shame skillers and pvp pures can't band together and spite vote against overpowered drop tables that ruin skilling profit.
