Pretty simple idea that needs to be said.

At somepoint they are going to have to change either how exp gain works and increase the max level cap.

The game has a had a max level cap of 99 for years now.
You give it enough time and we're going to get tier 80, and tier 90 gear.
Then eventually tier 95, 98 etc etc.

And what happens when we start hitting tier 90 gear and rewards? Everything existing before those updates has to either be pushed down to a lower level requirement, making it far less useful for higher leveled players.
Or we're going to hit a point where all new gear is going to be level 99 gear and then there literally won't be updates past it because what can you do once you have the max gear for level 99?

might not be for a few years but we're eventually going to hit a point where every skill has so much maxed gear that adding more will be literally pointless.

How'll this affect PvP?

I mean, it would affect all content obviously...and theres no real way of telling how unless it gets put into place.

But look at for example say...smithing.

Smithing has a rune plate at 99...that means in order to add new content it has to either be lower then 99 (making the rune plate more worthless).
Or, they have to push down the level requirements of all the items currently being smithed to make room for new ones....making all the items that are getting their levels reduced worth far less then they are now.

Now...you give it a few more years and literally every skill will have content at levels 90/99 and once they do? then that exact same dilemma there is going to happen in every single skill in the game.

So the only real way to keep the value of current items while allowing more room for growth and future updates?

Increase the level cap.

I feel bad for skilling then because it's pretty dead content right now...so just imagine what the PvP scene must be like~

I doubt the concern for gear reaching max level is valid considering Jagex has made a conscious effort not to add things above a certain tier. To my knowledge, no combat gear is higher than 75, so the entire premise for this suggestion is flawed.

Furthermore, the difference in experience required to go up a level in the 90s is so substantial, I think Jagex, even if they added higher tier armors, wouldn't have to add them in increments of 5 level or 10 level tiers. They could have gear for 91, 92, 93, and so on. So even if this hypothetical situation where Jagex suddenly decides to change the way they've been doing things, and the community starts voting yes to those changes, there's still plenty of room left.

Raising the max level now seems pointless, especially given how very little you've thought about this idea. That shortsightedness could (and very likely would) lead to rather disastrous effects on the balance of the game, and I'm not willing to entertain the idea unless you've got a plan.

So far your plan is "Increase the cap. I don't know how it'll affect PvP." I'm not willing to risk ruining the game for that.

No support.
I'll keep score from now on.

Okay...and WHY do they not add gear above a certain tier?

I'll tell you why, because they KNOW about the level cap and if they make gear thats too high leveled they can't go back on it.
That's why they are so hesitant to add any new gear above level 70.

"So far your plan is "Increase the cap. I don't know how it'll affect PvP."

Well it will OBVIOUSLY change the entire meta of every single piece of content.

But what....am i meant to be psychic? how am i meant to know how gear that doesn't even exist on a theoretical level yet will change the game.
Obviously all existing content would be far easier at higher levels so they'd need to make new content to match it.

Really....how am i meant to predict exactly what raising the level cap will do when the theoretical areas, gear and new monsters don't even exist for it yet.
All i can say is everyone will get stronger and do more damage. thats obvious.

And either way it doesn't change the problem of "whats going to happen once they reach tier 95, or tier 99 armour, where will they go from there?

I didn't say we have to increase it right now...i said we have to think about whats going to happen once we hit the limit.

The ditch is gonna get endless repolls while sand buckets can pass the first poll and never be implemented. After the ditch passes the 7th poll attempt, it'll be implemented an hour before the poll closes because it's actually important. Deal with it.
