More good points as usual, West, on last page. I certainly don't mind killing my characters, just never got the chance to do it much. I thought that maybe, since I like having a couple to several characters at once, that one randomly dies per serious fight/confrontation against a powerful foe.

Ah yes, exposition, saying rather than showing. I think that, in As Demons Weeping, I did have characters who were less expository. Inkeyes liked singing to herself, was weird-looking, immune to magic, was aware of fate yet appeared to try to get around it, and had her own personality. Kallistos, the phoenix-knight Inferi's character met (can't remember her name) was jumpy and fidgety, yet reliable and loyal. Luther Sting, the son of the cleric who killed the archer's (West's character?) mother, also had his own personality: greedy, wealthy, powerful, foolish, yet loyal and eager to do things. None of these characters had bios. Lesser characters, like the crazy bipolar man who somehow survived Chaos's realm, and even the fanatical beings, mechanical beings, and Bloody Mary the Penitent Martyr, who resided there, had their own individual goals and personalities as well. Perhaps all these were the reason As Demons Weeping got over 1k posts?
The main reason I stopped such elements was because I felt they dragged the RPing for too long, as I speculated that maybe RPs ahd to be more fast-paced, and the only way to maximise brevity would be to stay to the point, avoid thoughts, and keep going.

Hm, I often did have characters with certain mental problems, ranging from mild to severe. Griselda was pretty cruel but quiet and calm, whereas Octavius was a bit silly, ADHD-like, and loved putting on a show. However, their personalities didn't do much to actually progress the story.

In Omega, I did occasionally have chance-based occurrences that would potentially intro new characters or problems, or even change the entire direction of the RP, which did happen in Omega.

Oof, now that was awhile ago! Unfortunately, all I can remember is a vine tentacle monster in a bathtub and some decision whether or not to get in some satanic sarcophogus. Good times.

I didn't mean to point any fingers, or tell anyone to stop having fun! It's just a personal observation... albeit one that put one of my thread ideas on ice.

Heh. Don't think I haven't noticed your penchant for alcoholic characters, Azi! While fluff like this doesn't progress a story, it doesn't detract from it either.

Ah yes, in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the plants came to life and attacked ppl. That was awesome.

But your personal observations are really good! Ha, ya, whereas most of my ideas were put onto ince but slipped away.

I was thinking they're more like 'toxic' characters XD Maybe it was a bad idea, but it made them stand out in their own way.

I met a dude the other day. He was polite enough while sober, but a few hours of drinking inebriated him to the point where he was barely able to stand. Despite this, he was picking fights, dishing out personal insults to his friends and doing number ones behind the couch.

I don't think any of your characters come close to being that toxic. Your characters are more like the "cool drunken uncle".

0.o damn, even taking pisses behind the couch, I wasn't even that naughty!

Ha, yeah, but I'd go them as, "cool, drunken, crazy uncle".

Anyways, in other news, I am getting better at shifting/driving a standard transmission semi truck. I can do most of the pre-trip inspection pretty good, too. Overall, things are getting better and better, slowly but surely!

Also, Annie was gone for like three weeks, I hope she's OK. This forum just isn't the same without her.

Her last post was June 21. I recall she said a post was coming a couple pages ago or less, but nothing since then. Atarashi has also not posted. Not sure what happened, but Annie must be really busy or had big changes in her life. But that's alright.

I think I have a good idea that may revitalize activity here. I noticed RPs tend to merge users' characters in an oriented goal, then embark on a adventure from that. What if we would partake in an adventure, of which our mercenary company initially has a random-generated leader at first, chosen from a roster of varying Thread Master characters who may be beneficial or cruel, encouraging users to participate with their opinions, or even initiate mutiny, assassination, refusal to endure, or a fracturing of the company, or whatever intended. This would really amplify character development, change the course of the RP and the storyline, and somewhat force us to work together.

Once a Mercenary Captain is dealt with, the next leaders are then chosen democratically: users cast their vote, NPC votes are either random or influenced by whatever factors, and we see what happens. This way, even user-characters could become the leader of the company during the adventure, plus also have the power to influence and command the rest of the company.
