So, recently decided to fight celestial dragons to train ranged and make some money. Except, the latter part doesn't happen anymore. Why?

Stone.
Spirits.

The common drop of 4 addy ore was replaced with a drop of 4 stone spirits. The former was worth, 2-3k each for a total of 8-12k. Now, it's less than 1k total. This is a common drop. So the income of killing celestials was utterly trashed by stone spirits. I don't know exact estimates, but for that drop slot, it's less than 10% of its previous worth. And its common.

Now, perhaps you guys were expecting more demand for these. But as it stands, any monsters whose main income was ore drops, is now trash. Please fix. Perhaps a raw cash drop of equal value to the previous drop. But do something, because it has ruined the income from some monsters.

UPDATE:
I did some math. In 169 Celestial Dragon kills, 29 kills had a drop of Adamantite Stone Spirits (4). That equates to roughly a 17% drop rate. Addy stone spirits have a guide price of 160gp and declining. Before the update, the average price of addy ore was ~1400gp. The stone spirits are worth 11% of what the drop once was. This represents an 89% decrease in the value of these drops, which at a drop rate of ~17%, represents a huge decrease in overall profits.

I mean - why not trying to make stone spirits more useful and balance out their influx?

- Let them award xp for the additional ore, so they would naturally be part of the arsenal of xp focused miners - should increase the demand among all tiers significantly.
- Allow them to be disassembled for spiritual parts and imbued/powerful components. Would certainly have a niche that way.
- Replace spirits that were bars before the update by salvage - just like they did for metal dragons.
- Replace the remaining spirits by ones adequate to the content they drop from. Would reduce the supply of the ones fitting to the old ores.

I think the double ore effect should be removed and they should give double xp only. They affect pvm profits and skilling profits. Mining isn't really profitable anymore.

I agree with this, although double XP is probably too much since it would be the exact same perk as the Dwarven Ramhammer but you still get the resource in the end. Any sort of XP (subject to balancing, but more than what Crystal Skillchompas give) would be ideal and give these spirits more value.

The biggest reason why spirits are worthless is because they are inherently tied to the price of the ore itself. Since the market is flooded twice as fast from players using the spirits, then the price goes down, hurting both skillers and PVMers.

Jagex would have to do something to address the massive amount of ore currently in the game, but the double ores definitely has to go (at least for non-Ironman accounts).
Hard -> 3a Range Top (#357), 3a Full Helm (#439), Barrows Dye (#1755)
Elite -> Shadow Dye (#510), Barrows Dye (#680, #1567), 3a Druidic Staff (#969), Sack of Effigies (#972), Ice Dye (#1539)
Master -> Barrows Dye (#480)

No support.

Makes no sense to remove the ore effect just because ppl dont like them.

How about we remove cb auras since i dont like them?

Also yes mining is still profitable dont know how you think it isnt?:@

You're correct in that mining is profitable. That was the whole point of the update. But there's more to stone spirits than pvmers not liking them. They have actually hurt income in significant ways. Some monsters it probably lands in the ballpark of 20-30% decrease in gp per hour, conservatively. That's a fairly tangible impact on our half of the game. Just because skilling needed help doesn't mean pvm needed to be hit this hard. Make one better without hurting the other. Guaranteed if they found some better replacement for ores in drop tables, your ore prices wouldn't be impacted either way. But our bottom line is.

Well when one person doesn't like something it might not be likely to change, but when the majority doesn't like something things usually change.

Ore spirits are a mess created from that big M&S party that one time.. Lets clean this up already.. Because all of pvm is starting to stink.

There is no way to avoid getting these worthless drops when fighting pretty much everything, even high level boss encounters that should not be dropping junk like ore spirits.

Remove them from all sources and go from there, They could be added again to stuff that better fits ore spirits as their source.

The giant mole would be a great place to add ore spirits of all tiers. It already drops farming potions which is another skill assisting item, why not add spirits in there in a more organized fashion? Rather than just replacing old drops with a new junk drop... Bad jagex tisk tisk.

I can agree with this. if you just remove ore spirits from the table, then you can worry about whether it makes some drops too common. but dead drops are irritating and waste time
