As someone that despises all aspects of quests in RuneScape, I agree. Puzzles and bosses are my major annoyances with quests.

Toning either of them down will always be welcomed by me.

Same here.

Not all of the recent quests have multiple puzzles or boss fights. The ones that do are appropriate because they're related to treasure trials.

Plus, for some of the quests, they have different kinds of puzzles instead of the same one over and over again which do keep things fresh within the quest. Desperate times is an example for this.

Desperate Times, The Needle Skips, You Are It? Maybe not all of them have puzzles but a vast majority do. You Are It is related to treasure trails, sure, but not the other two.

While it's true that quests do tend to have different puzzles, again, they're unnecessary even with that variety. It's annoying either way.

Desperate times involved looking for Charos so that was very related to treasure trials and that portion of the quest very much reflected so.

There was a link to treasure trails but it wasn't based around it. Charos is more involved in quests than treasure trails.

That's why I said only the part of the quest where you are looking for Charos had a lot of puzzles, while the rest of the quest was very light on it. That's what I meant with
"that portion of the quest"
.

I suppose you have a fair point but it still feels unnecessary when I can go play those puzzles if I want to do a treasure trail. If they want to do that in quests, that's fine, but keep it out of the core storyline.

Isn't an RPG an adventure game? Heck our character is called the Adventurer.

Genre-wise, they are different, but RPGs do tend to include elements of adventure games in terms of storytelling. That being said, adventure games are more about solving puzzles to unlock parts of a story. Myst is a prime example of what adventure games are about.

The elements that RPGs usually carry over are the storytelling with just a hint of the puzzles. For a relatively recent example of how this carries over into RPGs, look at Skyrim. Some of the dungeons involve puzzles, but none of them are overly complex and none of them are infuriating to play through. They're simply there to add a bit of challenge beyond simply killing everything in sight.

THAT is the way puzzles should be used in RPGs, including MMOs. Not constant slide puzzles, EW puzzles, etc.
