Was just talking to my good friend Santosga and he said that he thought Big Game Hunter would be much better if there were different mechanisms for different dinosaurs.
He said it was "Stupid" to have 9 different dinosaurs all with the same mechanisms.
I agree with him wholeheartedly so decided to steal his idea and post it here with hope of support.

Maybe even a Jmod to think 'Damn we missed a trick there lets change it!'

Thank you for taking the time to read.

[EDIT] He said it was "Pointless" not "Stupid" just for clarity.

Even if the differences were as simple as:

Different dinos had different hp.

Different dinos moved at different speeds.

Different dinos had different arcs of visibility.
E.g Herbivores have eyes on sides of heads Carnivores forward facing.

Different dinos had different range of visibility.

Different dinos had different effect when they stood on you.

Different arenas had different layouts hiding places etc.

Different dinos spawned different numbers of dinos.

Mixing all of these little changes over all of the 9 could give them all a different feel even though they all use the same mechanics and would make a massive difference imo.

I would however rather see completely different methods of trapping or killing each beast.
It would be a much more enjoyable experience.

Maybe you should have just added a few dinosaurs at a time whilst working on different mechanics!?

Just a thought.

Lets face it they are all different levels so should be different levels of difficulty and reward.

Looks like I have to bump this thread, doesn't it? :p

I have been enjoying dino hunting and did a few of each for comp achievement. Indeed it seems weird and pointless to have all 9 skilling bosses behaving the exact same way. Imagine if GWD2 bosses had the exact same mechanics! And even legiones, which are very similar, at least have different specials. So yea mods, please consider adding some variety to these skilling bosses.

Ive killed about 200 in total in BGH and to be honest the content is bad as it is, if they start upping the HP and changing the mechanics then i will be officially done with this content.

It's terrible! it's repetitive boring and tedious, new mechanics won't make this content better.

We have a mark store with nothing of interest in it bar the 33% speed increase, so there is already little reason to get marks as it is too.

We would agree that regardless of the profitability of the loot box trade, the risks associated with them are worryingly high

I didn't even bother grinding BGH for Hunter Marks. I went out of my way to AFK grind them on Black Warlocks instead. A much more enjoyable experience.

Says it all, really. That I would rather AFK than engage with such dreadful content.

The idea isn't upping the hp it's 'adjusting' it the 9 dinos range from level 76 to 96.
Yet they are all exactly the same and all as hard to kill.

What I'm suggesting is the lvl 76 dino would have less hp than the lvl 96 one. Maybe it would have a smaller radius around it and move a bit slower. This would mean when people first try big game hunter they could start on the lowest level one and find it enjoyable because it is not overly taxing. You get less xp for killing it so shouldn't it be easier?

And my idea is just to alter parameters listed above to give variation. It wont completely change the mechanic but vary how each dino behaves.

You could have a large dino that moves slowly has a 360deg vision arc that covers a long distance. likewise you could have a small dino that move fast and can only see in front of it to a medium distance. It would be exactly the same game but each dino would behave slightly different.

Other parameters that could be altered that I have thought about since writing this are:

Different dinos get 'spooked' at different rates. some catch you faster than others.

Different dinos stop more or less frequently.

You said:

Yes it is. The idea is to make each one feel slightly different to make it less repetitive and boring.

I support and completely agree. I'm interested to see the patches applied, if any. I'm finding that it takes far too long for a kill. The radius is too big and there aren't enough places to hide to gather and build the scorpions. Great suggestions.
