Normally, I don't like to call out Jagex for stupid decisions, as usually my gripes tend towards minor flaws. And when I do, I prefer to provide constructive criticism, some advice and ideas to fix various issues, instead of desiring a complete cancellation of a project, or removal of an update.

This is one of those few exceptions. So, here goes.

I'm not a fan of this whole mobile RS thing at all.

The playstyle of Runescape is a terrible fit for mobile. Phones and tablets typically excel when it comes to games that you play for a few minutes at a time, not for a couple hours. You can't get a lot done in RS within just a few minutes. Sure you can do the quicker, simpler daily challenges, use the Grand Exchange(which you can do on the companion app anyway, why not just polish that instead?), and... Idk... feed your low-poly dog? Quests, slayer tasks, grinding, these are things that take time, and very little progress is typically made in a few minutes. There may be rare exceptions, but for the most part, I don't see Runescape on your phone as a good selling point. And let's not get started on controls. MMOs already exist on mobile platforms. There are many reasons why they aren't popular.

This whole endeavor is purely for the sake of novelty. Novelty is just the slightly more entertaining cousin of spectacle, and neither have a lasting impact. This is a waste of money and development resources, and as expected, Jagex is creating hype for a future update that has less substance and depth than an episode of Blue's Clues.

Here's the hype to increase sales;
Makes me want to puke in a pail;
When it comes I want to wail;
FFFFAAAAIIIIILLLL~~!!!

Back to serious mode. Just... cancel this please, if not for our sanity, then at least for your bottom line. You'll lose money on this, Jagex.

Edit: imgur typo.

I do agree the mobile is not a good thing.
ppl are distracted enough when txting or talking while driving or walking.
yes Ive had more than a few ppl walk right into me while standing still.
in their defense: I am small and hard to see as I am only 6'6" and 240 pounds -
so you might walk into me as
I am hard to see. lol

now on a tablet or a notebook that requires you to stay still and play the game effectively might be a fine thing.

I played years ago when runescape was good. I plan on coming back for mobile after ~6 years away. This mobile version will greatly increase the player base and bring old players back. I look forward to this

Agreed, there are already enough options if you don't want to sit at your desk; teamviewer or buy a laptop.

I see this mobile app just becoming an other Idle Adventures that will flop.

agreed, its a real dumdum idea...

but we cant stop ppl from doing stupid things. if stupidity paid tax there would be no stupid ppl.

with so much improvements that this game needs they go and make a "new" game. its clearly a stupid idea. Dedicate all the resources to RS3 if you want it to move forward not reduce it.

I literally logged on to tell you people you're god damn idiots who can't think outside the box. Bringing rs to mobile will introduce thousands of new players to the game simply because it's going to be the first REAL mmo on mobile, not these shitty little Korean MMOs that require you to pay 50$ at every turn. I'd also like to point out a whole lot more people have a mobile device than people who have a PC.

Literally logged in to say the dumb dumb is you.

Yes, the mobile port will bring in more players, but if the mobile size is to big or drains the battery to much people WONT stick around with it, itll become that thing you look at when your parents or wife is talking and you dont care about what their saying.

trust me, the mobile playerbase is pretty fickle, yea itll bring more people back and more players in, but a lot wont stay.

Heres why it truly is a bad idea, just to make neckbeards a bit happier.

1. RS3 and OSRS were made specifically for the PC

- do you realize how bad a xbox - pc port can be? same can be said for pc - mobile

2. look at the layout and how small a screen a smart phone has, how often do you think you might fat finger your items while playing corp, or what if your phone has a defect in it where the screen locks up untill the battery cools down after X point and you die?

- mine actually does lock up for no reason when playing certain mobile games and its a brand new android!

3. in my opinion they should bring RS to mobile but with a different design style or maybe different worlds/servers specifically for mobile

i feel with how runescape is now in general, its a bad idea for a mobile port.

yes people use teamviewer to simulate a mobile port but their not fat fingering their items because it still has the PC layout -.-

Had to login to get my say on this.

As a person who recently got back into runescape and seen how it's changed over the years I think this is a great move forward, I've always wanted a way to play certain pc games on my mobile even more so RS then others. I recently purchased a laptop for some reasons but 1 of them was so I was able to get in more RS hours as unfortunately I can't always be on my PC.

I'm part of the generation that had grow up with these technological advances in all tech areas and when the first post says people only play game for a few minutes at a time, well you've not heard of stuff like Pokemon go have you?? I've sat playing games on my phone for hours at a time.
As for the performance side I agree battery life is far from perfect in phones atm, tho again people have just come out the Pokémon go craze a while back now actually but either way that thing drained battery's but it didn't stop people, in fact I bet powerbank sales soared through the roof. Unfortunately a powerbank is a needed accessory for most avid phone users like myself and I'm running a IPhone 7 Plus biggest battery they do(for iPhones) and I still drain the thing. So using that as an reason not to bring this out is invalid as you might as well not bring any modern mobile app out now as they all drain a phones battery

I work quite a lot so my time I can spend on the game is limited but if I was able to train her lore or mining or anything like them skills or do some daily challenges while at work on my break or when my work has no actually work going on (I'm lucky in this aspect). I could hop on RS and do some of the boring stuff so when I'm home I could go bossing rather then doing all these grinding activities.
