Sorry I don't see crafting being involved in a second elite skill. And archeology would make more sense as a mini game on Fossil Island when that gets released. Think a good idea for the next elite skill would be one that involves magic; such as shape shifting, necromancy, etc.., which if you recall was mentioned in a article way back when the concept of elite skills was released.

I understand your concern with using the same skill in multiple Elite skills. I originally didn't want it here either. However i eventually came to a realization:

If we start knocking skills off the list of available combinations every-time we make an Elite Skill, we are going to be out of viable combinations within 2-3 skills. Because, unfortunately, some skills don't lend themselves to being part of an Elite skill (Slayer feels like it was meant to be an Elite combat skill all along). And some just lend themselves so well that they could fit into so many different and unique Elite skills (Magic for Necromancy, Shapeshifting, Enchanting, And Crafting for Invention, Archaeology, and many others.) So once you realize the limited options we have, and that some of those options just offer too much to rationally bar them off into 1 section, I don't know about you, but that's when I stopped caring if Crafting was already in Invention.

And if you recall, Jagex actually just mentioned Archaeology at Runefest this year as a skill they'd like to bring to the game.

Fair enough, I see your point, I just have the issue that archeology will become like dungeoneering, a reward based skill. I just see it as more an extension on Fossil Island where it would be most practical. Sure archeology will lead to a lot more lore, which I do enjoy, but I just can't see it as an elite skill. Would personally prefer them do something with summoning and magic

I understand your reasoning, but isn't every skill just a reward based skill?

Leveling up your slayer rewards you with monsters with good drops.

Leveling up your crafting rewards you with being able to craft better Jewelry and Armor.

Leveling up you Magic rewards you with more powerful spells.

Honestly, if you can't describe every skill as "Reward based" then i think there's an issue. If the only reason to train a skill is for a quest or a cape, then that's a fundamental issue with the skill that needs to be resolved. Skills should feel rewarding and you should feel like you're training them for those rewards.

This skill might have lots of potential, support in the forseeable future. It makes sense if one thinks how many civilizations have lived under our feet throughout the ages on the same lands, or had been conquered by others and razed to the ground.

After the Wildy got burnt we see some ancient structures have survived in some form, imagine thousands of unlucky people hiding stuff beneath the ground anywhere before migrating, hoping for it to never be found, until you finally came along looted everything you could find.

One can only dream of the rewards gotten through this skill, really appreciate the suggestion.

I think what you are suggesting is best for just exploration, rather than an elite skill. A lot of people would not enjoy that sort of activity.

I would request you give an example or reason as to why; simply saying "most people would not enjoy that sort of activity" doesn't help, as it does not give anything constructive, nor are you even capable of possessing that information.
