^ and

You can only use crystal fishing rod on fishing rod spots. Meaning you can't use it to fish sharks for example.

Crystal fishing rod has 1000 charges within Prif, 500 outside until it degrades back to seed. Once augmented it will no longer degrade back to a seed and once disassembled you will not get the seed back.

You don't augment fish omatic it will start to gain levels as soon as you use it. You have to augment Crystal fishing rod.

Overall, it is more expensive to use crystal fishing rods because you have to acquire crystal tool seeds and augmentors, however you will also be 5% faster when fishing, meaning faster fishing and invention xp.

Like Tenebri said you can use a crystal siphon on a crystal rod but remember these are like 900k.

You still could simply disassemble them upon reaching level 10 to get a few crystal parts either.

indeed you can, but is more expensive that way.

80k for the crystal seed + 150 dust (or 102k if you do not want to collect it yourself) + 456k for the augmentor vs. 990k for the siphon. Since you need to level it to 12 you also need the double amount of charges (or did you thought those were free?).

459k xp at level 10 + free components vs. 621k xp at level 12

I do not even need to calculate the costs per xp to disprove your point. Since you need for those 35 % more xp the double amount of time it isn't even time efficient (even if you gather those 150 dust). Pro tip: Crystal siphons are actually intended for tools, which aren't as easily replaced. Not that I got an issue with players doing this - if they keep the value of those siphons up this way it's more money for me then.

Either way making rod over and over is where it gets expensive.

So not everyone have mills to spare on skilling as its meant to be about making money not wasting it.

Yup - I am honestly impressed you do not even understand that calculation. But well - if you're paying more, while thinking you're paying less - even better. Or are you considering the siphons free since you're pre-making them - you do know you could premake the dust and augmentors as well?

Doing the calculation just for you:

2 crystal rods (since siphoning takes the double time I'll use 2 on that side to be able to ignore charges and the time used since they'll be the same) vs. 1 siphon

Input: 160k crystal tool seeds + 204k for making them to rods + 912k for augmentors = 1.276m vs. 980k for a siphon

Output: 918k xp vs. 621k xp

XP/GP: 0.71 vs 0.63

So you're getting less xp over that time and pay more for each point of xp. You might be right you're paying less overall, but since you're also getting less xp, each point of xp costs you more as if you just would have disassembled it. If it was just one rod you would've gotten more xp for siphoning it, but already your total costs would've been higher.
