The Community Home forum has been recently opened again for all to make threads in - which in my opinion, is a mistake. Just looking at the front page, threads of all different types have been made in the last few days, because the subsection title is so ambiguous. It has been opened once before (in 2015 post the closure of the 'Welcome' subsection), and the same mistakes happened then. It's already looking to become the new "Welcome" forum subsection that was around in 2014, which did not work as intended, because it didn't seem like enough preparation was put into it.

I realise it was opened recently to accommodate the new Discord recruitment threads, however I think it would be better to close CM once again, and have threads manually moved to that section once again. The only downside I see to this, is that FMods cannot move threads in and out of them, so it would require JMods to do so... not sure if it'd be possible to allow FMods move abilities in this subsection...

Will add more if I can think of other solutions.

Discuss if you think the re-opening of CH is good or bad, and why, and any possible solutions. :)

I'll be straight to the point, I don't see Jagex reversing a recent decision that they have made.

Give it time, observe first then judge the result after a month or a quarter.

The chance of Jagex reversing a decision cannot happen overnight.

And who couldn't see this happening... It would of been so much easier and tidier if they popped them in a thread and stickied it. So what if there's only a few, it may grow in time, it may not. But at least it's in one place, nice and tidy.

And yes they should close it, it was a not well thought out idea in the first place as mentioned in this thread:

mainly the last few pages. But RSOF ideas from the people that use it goes unheard time and time again.

It is unfortunate, but not unexpected, that players who are not regular forumers do not realise they can only post Discord details in the Community section.

It is not unheard of for JMods to have a quick rethink after observing reactions to one of their Forum decisions. It has only been a couple of days and there are already six hidden/locked threads on the first page. Waiting another three months, even if the rate of misplaced threads slows down, will ruin that section.

Mod Meadows has a sticky for the RS Official Discord which could be expanded to allow player run Discords to be posted. The information for each Discord could easily be condensed into one or two posts.

I was going to check, but the threads have since been made hidden... O_o

But I suspect they most likely are new forumers. I highly doubt people still bother to troll on the RSOF lol.

Yeah. They have reversed their decisions shortly after... not sure if I can comment about the most recent one I remember, as I'm sure a lot of people would rather forget it. ;)

I'm sort of 50/50 about a thread like this being made... while I can see it being helpful, if it's just people posting their discords per post, then the people who manage to get the first page will always have the best advertisement...

If a thread like that was created, I'd like to see a list (like in my Forum Directory) reserving the first few posts, which would link to each persons post giving an explanation of their server. As discussed on your other thread though, you want the thread to be JMod ran... meaning to keep it fair, they'd have to constantly update the first few posts with links.... this makes it unfeasible for a JMod to run the thread - which is why I included the list in my directory.

I do agree with what people have said about my thread though - the title doesn't attract people too well and doesn't show what the thread contains in the title...

Bad idea, kneejerk reaction, opening it without thinking of how it'll look/work.

I think your existing thread, Loki, is a much better solution. The downsides to it (as I see it) are:

- It's in the wrong Forum here. Discords don't have anything to do with Website or Forums, really. The entire thread would sit better in 'Community', since you are encompassing pretty much everything now.

If I were seeking a Discord, I wouldn't instinctively visit the Website & Forums Forum, but I probably would look on Community.

- Yeah, the title could do with a tweak.

- If your thread is used as the hub for Discord advertising then you will be lumbered with updating it from time to time. I know you do this anyway, so it's probably a labour of love.

Most of those people seem to use the search button to find any topic related to their problem if its like 2 years old, same with sections anything that sounds close they'll use.

Think it would be x1000 easier just to have a sticky thread directory, I'm sure people can manage to sum up their discord in 1 post. Just let people post their own in a mega thread, so another can edit if needed and don't get stuck if topic creator goes awol.
