Mod Sween explains here about Reddit being far superior to these forums, and is proposing several changes to the OSRS forums to condense them. Check out that thread for more information.

What I'd like to ask, and have discussions about, is to improve the rest of the forums by condensing subsections and having less areas. Calm Enigma has an amazing forum layout idea here.

- What subsections should be removed?
- What subsections should be merged?
- Are there any subsections that should be created or renamed?
- Are there any things that are out of place?
- Anything else?

Would be good to hear CM's thoughts on this as well..

Statistics on posts: (note RS3 is defined as every section that is not part of the OSRS forum sections, so it will also include the various private forum section posts too)

OSRS: Approx. 66,870 posts in June
RS3: Approx. 87,097 posts in June

Source: Sween & Cam

Original message details are unavailable.
For the month of June we had: 6,267 threads, 153,967 posts (38,901 of those are bumps). Clans are roughly 40% of all content.

4,511 unique members and a maximum of 216 simultaneous users.

Original message details are unavailable.
Each day there are approximately 2000 unique visitors to the RuneScape Forums (all Forums, including both RS and OSRS). Whereas /r/2007scape and /r/runescape have a combined daily unique visitor count of approximately 155,000.

There were 15,603 posts on OSRS exclusive Forums (not RuneScape) in the past week, which is an impressive number, however not when you consider that 12,258 (78.56%) of those posts were in Old School Clans.

At this moment in time there are 15 logged in users on the Forums (both RuneScape and Old School), versus 7,700 online on /r/2007scape.

I should note that the numbers are perhaps slightly skewed and are rough estimates, though the numbers should not vary too much.

I would have worked out the clans bit and bumps as well, but it's not clear enough in Cam's post whether the clans part also include old schools clans as it's not part of the other clan sections.

They were interesting to read. I didn't see Clam's thread when it first appeared.
It's a bit tricky atm because Imgur is not working for me so I can't see his illustrations, but reading his suggestions only they sound thoroughly sensible.

Personally, I'd be entirely happy for the Goals & Achievements section to just disappear. I'm so not interested in reading about what anyone else is doing in game. Then again, I'd have no objection to it staying if it's well-loved and well-used.

Will ponder a little longer on other stuffs.

I'd support condensing the RS3 forums, if only because it would make it so that the OSRS forums don't sit so far down out of sight.

I think that most of the feedback forums could be condensed into existing game content leaving just: News Discussion, Recent Updates, Future Updates, Existing Game Content, New Suggestions, Website & Forums. Runemetrics doesn't even a total of 2k posts in all the time it's existed.

Delete invention skills out, most know what it is by now.

Put forum roleplay and ingame roleplay above/under each other on the list.

Can't they just get rid of event and services tab and plop it in community tab.

Interesting numbers... It means pretty much more people posted on RS3 forums than OSRS, and even a lot more so because almost 80% of the OSRS posts were on clan recruitments.

That explains why a lot of OSRS users mistakenly posted on RS3 forums. :D:D:D

Greetings, Loki!

Not sure if I should address this here or on your other Thread.

Is there a Listing explaining How to Post on the Forums?

Course, there's how to do an Imgur but...if so, maybe they
should be combined...maybe putting BBCode Colors
in same Section/maybe not?

Seems there used to be, maybe I'm just missing it.
Even looked on the Wiki, can't find it there either.

Thank you, much.

Remove Rant. Why should players come to a game to rant? A rant forum is wrong concept to begin with as a game is an entertainment. Players should come to share their opinions in a happy tone.

Remove Invention. Really, there aren't regular invention updates and this skill is not anything special than the others.

Combine Runemetric and SGS. Runemetric is an item from SGS anyway.

Combine Existing Content and General. Isn't anything not RECENT or FUTURE just GENERAL in a general sense? :D

Is there really an absolute need to shrink the forum board any? I mean, I can see a few..but not too many. Forums should only be merged if there is not a need for having 2....ie - very similar purposes or themes. Merging for the sake of it is just a waste of time and threads can be lost that don’t need to be.

Would rather see sections be re-organized and moved around to be better grouped based on what they’re for. IE = have a suggestions category that has New Game Content, Existing Game Content, and Ninja.

Though for removing, I can see 2 right now..maybe a 3rd, but I’ve yet to figure out a solution for what to do with it instead of just put down remove.

I do agree Invention could go now. Been 2 years, and any changes could be suggested in EGC or New Game Content....depending on the suggestion.

RuneMetrics is not a SGS product, so it won’t fit in there....it would be better fitting as part of this forum since it’s part of the website.

Each one has its on purpose, no need for them to be merged.

RGU is for discussion of updates in the previous 2 weeks...FGU is for anything not out yet but has been announced in some form. EGC is for suggesting changes to content already in the game. And General is for ANY discussion that doesn’t have a forum section (ie - any tips for the next double xp weekend, or whatevs). Best if they stay separate since all of them have different purposes.
Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

I see like 3/4 of the threads on the first page of General can actually be classified as Existing Game Content too. For instance, Runespan Rhapsody, Portable skilling stations ,Dungeoneering elite task, PvP World, Soul/pets, Abyss miniquest, Permier club reward tokens, etc etc etc.

That's my thought and my suggestion to combine Existing Content and General if Jagex have to combine something. It is fine if they are kept separate although a bigger portion of the threads in General actually are about existing items/game content.
