I actually never thought of it as being against the rules. As I do snip out sentences or paragraphs if it's not relevant or too much text.

The only reason I asked this question is we have (had) a couple of grammar police (excuse the expression) who in the past has been on my case and I was just wondering do people fix quoted mistakes in general if you come across them.

I would quote the post, including the error/s. Although spelling and grammar are important for effective communication, a typo or grammar error usually does not detract from the post's meaning.

Another thing to remember is that these forums are used by people, whose first language is not English. Of course, they may make errors but they are contributing to the community here. :)

I leave 99% of them unless thay would cause more embarassment to the poster.

After all who makes more tipos them Me? I ask you lol. :P
I am very confident my reputation with typos is quite mind blowing and quite frankly, it depends what it is about and who are involved. Sometimes I feel too embarrassed to correct them over and over so to some extend I leave them as they are.

When quoting do you fix the quoted post spelling/grammar mistakes or just ignore them?
I have altered entire JMod posts in the past of which they weren't that happy about happening but they got my drift what I was trying to push through but I'll refrain from doing it again in the future.
