Note: This is about threads discussing in-game bugs, not about any bugs in the forum software itself.

For most of the forum's history, bug threads have been locked by forum moderators. Not always, but it's the common fate for threads like those.

However, sometimes they aren't locked, and are even given Fmod, Jmod, and Local Mod approval. Original message details are unavailable.
No worries, you did the right thing reporting the bug here!
It's important that you report it ingame too. I'm doing it right now, as well! :)

I'm sure they'll fix that as soon as possible.
Here's a recent example.

I understand that the reason bug threads are not meant to be posted are because of the potential for exploitation, as well as bug reporting in-game is a lot more helpful to jagex. Thus, the question remains, should bugs that are harmful, but cannot be exploited, be allowed on the forums? The rule deserves to be clarified.

Example of what I think is OK:

-Cosmetic bugs
-Bugs that can potentially harm a user, (a quest not awarding an xp lamp when it should, for example)

What isn't OK:

-Abuseable bugs (eating a potato cactus and then a cabbage allows you to steal from someone else's bank!)

Curious on rule clarification + other people's opinions on bug threads on the forums. Of course, bug reporting in-game is always a better option and a priority, but should these threads be allowed?

Bug reports ingame go right to the people that need to hear it. Forums have a bunch of threads that bury a report attempt. So seems kinda redundant and inefficient to report in 2 places one of which only deals with bug reports.

I'm fine if they are asking clarification like is this supposed to happen or is it a bug. Think its better they just close em all outside clarification and say go ingame instead of taking a chance.

I know annualy they have the photo booth avatar bug which distorts it whatever way that year, that seems like it goes better on the forums.

Not all bugs are actioned in game, if only one or a few people are having trouble it often won't be looked at even if it's at huge cost to the player.

So I'm of two minds about this.

This is incorrect. The RuneScape content QA team clears every bug report from a player every weekday, often within the hour. On weekends, coverage is provided by our Player Support team.

During an update day even closer attention is paid to the bug report queues, and you will often find reports 'closed' within 15 minutes.

Note: Things that are not a bug "I was hacked" etc. are closed as no further action, so please don't try going to abuse this as a way to get in touch with Jagex other than to report bugs.

False. Not all bugs can be "actioned" right away or fixed in a reasonable time. I'm probably the only person that reported the ghast scroll being glitched, and it was fixed within 1 or 2 weeks of my reports. It really depends on the complexity.

Bug reports in-game are the best way to send information to jagex, because it also provides some extra data that a mere forum post cannot.

Anyway, please try to keep the discussion about people posting bugs on the forums and whether that should be allowed or not.

For personal reasons which I'm not going into on these forums. I reported something awhile back on my main I believe and nothing was done to fix or amend situation. Nor did anyone come back to me on situation.

Another time two or three years back, a JMod said to an alt, not sure if in forums or message center that they prioritise bugs, glitches, isolated cases are put behind more urgent cases, one player Vs 100s of players.

Does that apply to both OSRS and RS3?
