If I can remember correctly, there was a time that the feature you mentioned was available. It was when in a short period the login window for RSOF was Java-based. Yup, Java-based, which will not be a good thing today as Java is deprecated on all modern versions of browsers.
What's the point of hiding username though? For the game client, its mostly for streamers to hide it to prevent getting hacked.°l||l° Modest Skillers T7 Citadel | Skilling clan recruiting players. °l||l°

Since this was bumped and continues to be, I'll reply.
As other users have pointed out, I don't see the benefit to this. The in-game username blocking was to assist streamers who are trying to log into game worlds with different accounts, to stop them becoming the target of hijacking attempts.
This isn't a problem for the website, and if you're streaming yourself accessing the parts of our website that require login, you should rethink your streaming strategy.
If there's a legitimate usecase for this however, I'll raise it. I have yet to see one though.
This will help protect our accounts from this end; not only our profiles where name changes, email communication and authenticator is keep, if the hijacker can come into this end easily there is no stopping him logging in-game.
It would be easier at this stage to workout the login at this end, once that's done they can see a partial email, authenticator at there finger tips. I feel you need good security throughout the website not just in-game. The forums is a huge security risk for accounts at risk.
