While I understand that Jagex wants the largest group of players to be happy as possible while playing their game, I feel like the 75% threshold for adding any content seems flawed.

For example, I was rather excited for the Warding Skill, and so were 82,632 other people. But since that wasn't 75% of the vote, it got scrapped.

However, with 51,850 votes, the Range and Max capes got the Ammo pickup ability.

I'm not trying to say that any polls which have passed have been bad in any way. I just find it weird how more players can want one thing versus another, yet the larger group gets rejected. These two polls in question were very close to each other as far as when they were posted, so I doubt the overall player-base changed substantially between those times.

I've also noticed that the majority of things that pass are simply QOL changes rather than new content, which is a real shame. Regardless of how long Jagex worked on the Warding skill, it seems like an extreme waste of time and resources to come up with new content to only have it shot down in the polls so consistently.

I'm also not saying that new content polls shouldn't exist, I just feel like new content polls, especially things like new skills, should have a different set of criteria for passing. I understand that a lot of people who play OldSchool don't want it to turn into RS3, which I agree with, but at the same time if new things aren't introduced to the game, the game will become extremely stale.

In my humble and personal opinion, OSRS is overdue for a new skill and I think Warding would have been a good start, even if we didn't get another one for years.

If you could design a new skill for OldSchool, what would it be and why?

TBH, any system, not just the Poll System in a game, that requires 75% approval to pass is flawed.

Imagine... someone needs 75% of all votes to be elected as the President of the USA or Prime Minister of the UK... well, it is easily seen such a system is flawed as there would be no President or the USA or UK Prime Minister for God knows how long. :D

I agree, no system is truly perfect. There's always room to make it better, even if that margin is minimal.

I just feel like it's too hard for Jagex to do new things with OSRS because a certain few people (relatively speaking) don't want anything to change. Ever. Which, I'll say again, is a real shame.

Think of it this way, instead of requiring 75% of people saying "Yes", it requires less than 25% to say "No", which is honestly an extremely difficult margin to miss on a lot of things.

If it were up to me, I'd have the bar set at 65% instead, with any "Skip" or "No Opinion" type answers not even being counted in the overall percentage, because as it stands, that effectively counts as a "No" as well.

I can see one of these changes happening in the near future:

(1) Lower the 75% threshold.
(2) Keep the 75% threshold but make a whole lot more "integrity" changes.
(3) Completely remove the current poll system.
(4) Do nothing and let OSRS become RSC naturally and eventually be decommisioned, while they focus on putting the new changes to more modern new games.

Require 2k total, 500 Raids completed, and 250 quest points to vote. Problem solved. If you can't git gud and L2PK, don't cry for the rewards that come from it such as loot boxes filled with resources.

So change the USA Presidential or UK Prime Minister election requirements to at least 50 years old and have worked for at least 20 years then problem solved? :D:D:D

Idk what that reference is about, but sure. I'd support that.
