Bonds are not mtx. You are buying membership, just as you do when you buy the membership directly. The difference is that you trade the bond to someone that cant afford to buy membership with real life money and they give you pixels.

No dude. YOU are "buying membership" with your in game coins. The guy/gal selling that bond is buying YOUR in game coins. You did the work to earn the coins.. they spent rl money to buy those pixels.

Jagex got the money for the transaction (so it's not rwt) and it's a small transaction.

Bonds ARE mtx and I can't tell you how many times I said that they were only the beginning. =)

They weren't the beginning. The beginning was refer a friend or something. The end result being that 78k of the 108k people currently online are in osrs…. during the holidays in most of the world, during an rs3 promotion (which is a constant thing anyway) and a lot of them are still bots, in both games btw. So all in all it is looking like desperate times wouldn't you say.

It's not the end of the world and even a full on cash shop wouldn't be the end of the world. It's all entirely optional, and IMO should be available to those who DO want it.

You didn't get the memo from dilbert then.

Hey! I don't know what "memo" from "dilbert"... but anyway, let me give you the real "bond explanation" from MMG:

Oh yes! Things changed a lot. Usage of Bonds changed a too. Presumably this Partnership "cosmetics" thing are poised to change a lot in the future too. Shrug! Why argue now? Just take it easy and enjoy what's coming when they come. :)

Are Old School and RuneScape Bonds the same?

Old School Bonds are tradeable only within Old School Runescape, and only redeemable for membership and name change cooldown bypasses.

You can only use Old School gold to trade for them, and they cannot be
transferred to RuneScape to use for RuneCoins or Keys

I am just quoting MMG's original post on Bond in its entirety. Help yourself to sort out what's not applicable for OSRS like spins and RuneCoins.

Nevertheless, we can see services added to Bond (like name change, donation, Runefest etc) and some of them later got removed over the pats few years. The point is things always change with time so no need to freak out over things that may or may not be happening in the future.

It's not the future so much as Jagex failing in every possible way in the present that I see as the problem. Hopefully the new owners will fix that don't you think.

But aren't all the Chicken Littles worrying about the future of what cosmetics may lead to instead of the present problem of cosmetics?

And why don't all these Chicken Littles also consider what the future of OSRS will be without cosmetics? Will Jagex switch to Plan B and just hire Yelp as their new monetisation manager? :D
