So as some of you may know, Telos will be dropping a new Godsword aligned to Zaros.

But who cares? Godswords are so 2007.

Let's talk about the other new drop:
the Seren Godbow!

More importantly, can it actually kill a god like a
Godsword
or
Godspear?

In addition, hypothetically speaking, if one were to slay a god with this "Godbow," would it cause the killer to ascend to godhood? Or would the divine energy slip out, through the "arrow" since no recipient is physically touching the "arrow"?

Discuss.
I worship Mah, for she is mah homegirl! The correct adjective for Mah's followers are: Mahomies, Mah-homeboys, or Mah-homegirls.

Physical contact seems to be a must, as seen with Guthix, Zamorak, and Bandos.

You say Godswords are so 2007, then immediately mention Godswords. GG. Considering Telos is an anima avatar, I'm guessing he's fairly powerful....

Just a reminder that the 'godsword' we get from God Wars Dungeon isn't THE godsword that is meant to be able to slay gods.

From The Mighty Fall FAQ:
Original message details are unavailable.
Q: Do the godswords we wield truly have the power to face a god? Will Graardor be successful in restoring a true sword with the power of slaying gods?

Mod Jack: The godswords we can make aren’t “the” canonical godsword, just a powerful magic sword based on the same power. The outcome (if it is ever resolved) of the battle in the Temple of Lost Ancients will have to be determined by future content.

Just because a weapon has the word "god" in it doesn't mean that it can kill a god. They are just god-aligned, nothing more unless otherwise stated. Telos doesn't seem to have any connection to the Godsword of the God Wars Dungeon.

It is hard to say how must a physical contact is, because only non-physical death I can think of is Guthix, who most likely prepared his death so that his killer wouldn't become a god (Sliske stated his power had already been passed on). But I would say that the closer the person is to the dying god, the more power they could absorb, thus making ascending more likely.

I'm pretty positive the godsword we get isn't even the real one, so I doubt it, or the bow we're getting now, can kill a non-weakened god. Even if it was equal in power to the Tuska god spear it'd be practically useless considering how little damage each stab did.

Physical contact is probably necessary for the energy to transfer somewhere, but I suppose it is possible it could be absorbed by the item (arrow in this case) and then transferred once the user picks it up.

I've long theorised that this was kind of how Armadyl could have gotten power from Bandos, if he did at all. If you look at the cutscene there's a notable energy glow once Armadyl picks up Bandos's mace. So the idea is that upon death a significant portion of his energy could have gathered in it.(And before anyone comes with any snarky comments... No, the Bird and The Beast faq did NOT confirm Armadyl denied power. It said he might have gained power, or maybe he somehow denied it. It didn't confirm a thing, so we actually don't know.)

I suppose just being close to the god in question when they die might do something too since the energy supposedly explodes outward.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

oh... lame
I had a sort of headcanon where the godsword used to be able to kill gods but can't anymore because of reasons (like the power leaking out after thousands of years or so)

although it would be nifty to finally see the godsword... do... its thing, even though the SoA seems far better suited to the killing of gods
