UPDATE:
The official Tiers of Godhood as revealed in Runefest 2013 by Mod Ollie, is now on this thread, all information on this thread has been confirmed.

UPDATE:
There is now confirmed to be a Tiers of Mahjarrat scale, not too dissimilar to the tiers of Godhood. If you like comparing power levels, you may enjoy this thread for the Mahjarrat, by Lumen Vector.
~*~

If you're a newcomer to this thread, the Seven Tiers of Godhood was originally revealed to be a scale of the god's power levels, something for the Jagex mods to use when using these gods in content.

It was first revealed here in Mod Osborne's Lore Campfire. Well, one of them anyway - there's multiple now. :P

First off, this does not mean if a god on a higher tier fights a lower tier, that the higher tier would necessarily automatically win. As an adventurer, I'm sure you've fought many things that are more powerful than you, but it was your skill and cunning that brought you to be the victor. Power is still an advantage, and a relevant thing to keep track of, though.

Secondly, there are tiers within a tier, like two gods on the same tier don't have to have the same amount of power. You can rise within the tiers and not actually advance a whole tier of power.

Thirdly, the tiers of the gods have changed over the ages, and will likely continue to change. Especially when gods are scavenging Guthix's lost power, and getting beaten in battles and whatnot.

The tiers of godhood go from 7 to 1, with Tier 1 being the most powerful - Home to exclusively Elder Gods at this moment. Tier 7 being not truly 'gods' but 'honorable mentions', usually beings blessed with divine power, though again, not exclusively - you would be surprised at some of the things confirmed to be tier 7.
You can only fully appreciate a story when you experience it through the eyes of one of its characters.

Other Interesting Things

The player is the only one who cannot become a god. Due to becoming the World Guardian at the end of the World Wakes.

The world guardian is the only one who would be able to resist the elder gods to an extent, not even the gods themselves can.

The Dragonkin are reaching god levels of power, and will ascend through the tiers of godhood as the Stone of Jas gets used, but also from them personally using elder artefacts. Currently around tier 5.

Vorago may be within the tiers of Godhood, or at least he thinks so. He mentions that battling a god would be a worthy battle - but does he really know how powerful they are?

When a god dies, their power can either be absorbed (like with Zaros), or it can disperse and spread out (like with Guthix).

Gods can be killed by things other than just elder artefacts.

We will be able to be in direct combat with at least one god in the future.

As the World Guardian, Guthix gave us the power to defend from god magic, and we have seen that Saradomin cannot teleport us against our will - but can if we give him permission. However, we are not completely immune to their magic... It has its limits.

The three core storylines that will be told in the 6th age are one about the gods, one about the Elder gods, and one about the Dragonkin. These storylines will eventually merge together and there will be an ultimate, final epic quest to end it all. This could be years from now.

The world events will change what happens in the storylines depending on the results, but your personal choices will determine the outcome. Gods will die in future world events.

Zaros will not be a faction in any of the world events, his story will be told in quests only. Though, it is still possible to work against him in these quests.

Nice thread! :) I don't see how the karamjan god should be higher than the demigods, although we know nothing of his power so it is likely.

What put Seren so far down the list? The fact that she doesn't play a large part in recent history doesn't make her any less powerful. We know due to armies of gielinor that the elves participated in the god wars, we know their kingdom used to stretch to all of Kandarin, and we know they have the ability to create very powerful crystal items and use magic without runes with some sort of help from Seren. She was also one of the gods who weren't banished from Gielinor so perhaps we power grew.

Regarding Zaros, I think it's safe to say he can easily defeat either Zamorak or Saradomin in a one on one fair fight, so I'd keep him at 6, even in his current form.

Seren is an ambiguous one I admit. Given she was here since the first age, the divine aspect of the Anima Mundi and with Guthix and all those elder artifacts, it's quite possible she is very powerful - perhaps even rivaling Guthix's power.

However if she was, I dunno, I just think she would have done something. Maybe help Guthix when he ended the God Wars or something.

She could easily be explained as any one of the 5 tiers between 2 and 6, so I just assigned her to the tier that most matched her behavior as a goddess, in comparison to the other gods on that tier.

For Zaros - before the q&a I would agree, but after it, it seems unfortunately otherwise. Well, not too unfortunate as it makes things more interesting if they're all around the same power. Room for lots to happen.

Original message details are unavailable.
Zamorak is ascendant, while Zaros has likely lost power. It'd be too close to call. I don't feel it would be a clean fight, either.

Yeah, I've just finished reading the QA

About Seren I noticed this was said :
"She was awake during the God Wars"

I also thought the edicts didn't affect her but instead :
"She took extreme methods to avoid the edicts"

I like the idea that Freneskae creator god is an elder god, it has the potential of perhaps being a rogue evil elder god, kind of like Shinnok in Mortal Kombat.

Out of tier 5 i would say Saradomin and Zamorak are the most powerful.

1. Het, Apmeken, Crondis, Scabaras,
2. Amascut, Icthlarin, Camel God, maybe Flametaer is a god or dedicated to a god?
3. Karamjan god(s), Kendal maybe other fremennik gods?
4. Elindis, Seren, Marimbo
5. Saradomin, Zamorak, Bandos, Armadyl, Tumeken, Skargaroth, Tuska
6. Guthix, Zaros
7. Jas and other elder gods perhaps Freneskae creator god

I was gonna rank other powerful figures but it was taking to long lol. I really don't like the idea of Brassica Prime being a god.

During the Naragi god war Tuska and Skargaroth appear to be more powerful then Saradomin, but i would say Saradomin is more powerful than he was then.

During mountain daughter and jungle potion quest they use the term "gods" rather then god, so i would hope there is more then one. Also im not sure what to make of the fremmy spirits yet.

There is the 3 gods at the start of Origins of Gielinor when the narrator says "one by one others followed" i would hope we explore them and find out who they are.
