If Enakhra is the last female Mahjarrat............................................

why don't one of the male Mahjarrat just shapeshift into a female like Angof? O_O

This would solve their extinction problem!

They are a race that shows no affection to one another, even among siblings like Wahisietal and Sliske, so it wouldn't matter if they need intimacy....
Well maybe Sliske or Azzandara should lookup the Makeover Mage. Share a little or a lot of knowledge. Moia might even be a partial template of how to solve their problem and maybe even dispose of the Ritual altogether?

While the Makeover Mage may have little experience with Mahjarrat, they are the most experienced mage of their kind in the known universe, so that has to count for a lot. Getting them together with Angof might help by leaps and bounds into his own research.

Edit: I see a quest in this! ^_^

It would be a one off shift cost, not a whole 9 months temporary constant drain. In species switching seems to be permentant, and with a little luck Moia would be close enough to bridge the gap. And lower the energy requirements to a much more manageable size. Along with all the fun a halfjarrat kids. The half human bit might be able to feed on divination energy or some other substitute. And then the ritual problem becomes a thing of the past. Horrifying maybe. But a change might be the only way forward.

Though with the Makeover Mage;'s help it would be a true blend and not 2 halves glued together.

Because just having a kid on Gielinor appears to effectively sign your own death certificate.

As far as we know, they end up incredibly weak from the experience (at least on Gielinor). So even if they manage to survive until the next ritual, they are the most likely to be chosen for sacrifice.

Yeah, and that's without the additional exertion of shapeshifting. It's probable that doing both would be a nearly guaranteed death.
Which is why they could use the Makeover mage, the theory being that the magic used is what powers the change and seals it. Moia was an experiment into getting around the problem. I think the situation is right that they could try this other method, something that was not available before. It's a dangerous gamble but so was Moia. It will just take time.

The makeover mage probably wouldn't be able to do much on a Mahjarrat, since they're natural shapeshifters anyway, and not human :P.
Which is why my first post talked about a collaboration. This is the only person we've ever heard of that has done such extensive research in this field. Herhas even done some research into interspecies shapeshifting. Yes, the Mahjarrat are different, but that is only a lack of knowledge. That can be remedied. Though achieving a success wold be the real trick.

Still if the goblin potion works in a certain area and keeps the individual in that form until they leave, then surviving a pregnancy is a simple as the right method and wait there. Or at least an object to keep powering the transformation until it is no longer required.

This is not even the only precedence for such human developed magic. It's a hope for them at least.

Well it sounds to me as if Mahjarrat reproduction needs a starting place, as no one seems to have decided and everyone is stuck on it being solely biological. What if it is far more Anima based than physical?

A mixing of energy, not forgetting that souls are generally anima based in RS. You might need to add a bit more physical spec or 2 that has to be infused to get self replication. The "female" would have to be able to gather, store and provide a lot of anima for a growing foetus. That would give us the weakening of females that has been observed.

Now that should allow shapeshifted Mahjarrat to errrr......hmm. . . . do business as usual.

It should also allow for Moia to come into existence. Though the toll taken on human females to produce such a spawn would be near catastrophic back then. At least the 6Th Age might have supplements that would make such an endeavour far easier now. It might also explain why no male Mahjarrat just shapeshifted to female. Maybe a "female" is far better equipped to survive that demand?

I think this theory covers the bases of what we've heard so far.
