How about following the Queen of Ashes? The way I see it, she recruits the downtrodden by showing them a vision of an ideal world rising from the ashes of one burned to the ground. This would make her quite similar to Zamorak in a sense, only she would be more sympathetic towards people who were oppressed, such as the goblins.

Where is this information on the Queen of Ashes? On the RS wiki all it mentions is her recruiting the downtrodden...nothing about a "burn the world down and make a better world from the ashes" modus operandi. If this is her actual way of thinking....I think I'l have found my favorite Runescape deity! =D (Though I still do like Amascut)
I admit it's only a theory. And there are some who would say that the Queen of Ashes is Sliske's master. But I believe that showing the downtrodden a vision of burning the world down and building a better one is probably the best way for her to approach her goal. I'm actually writing a story known as The Ash Goblin, which is a first-person account of a goblin who she approaches to inspire into helping set fire to Gielinor. Goblins are, in my opinion, the most downtrodden race in RuneScape history.

As for solid evidence, unfortunately all we have is V saying in his diary that she would recruit the downtrodden to her infernal cause. I just expanded on it. :P

Or the wars that occur where she has to come in and launch her attacks often results in infrastructure being reduced to "ashes". And that she "burns evil/corruption/blight" into ashes.

Depending on how it's looked at, fire is somewhat of a bringer of balance. It's primarily used for destruction but can also be used for cooking and certain rituals, which increases cultural standing and provides a tranquillity of sorts. As such, creation and destruction are caused in equal measure by fire.

Plus, fire leaves ashes which can also be used in rituals, or fertiliser for new plants. I actually recall hearing of plants using fire ecology by germinating quickly after a fire. And a perfect example of an ecosystem that relies on fire is the demons which combust upon death and leave ashes behind.

What if it's possible too that Xau-Tak and her are at war with each other and her "fire" is the counter to Xau-Tak's "corruption" and whatever she deems similar?

Xau-Tak I can imagine fitting a kind of "lawful evil" trope and her "chaotic-good/anti-hero" trope stereotypically.

C'thulhu vs. Queen of Ashes? RIP Queen.
All praise mighty Xau-Tak.

Instead of choosing someone to follow, how about choosing a personality profile to roleplay instead?
Which is why I recommended watching anime. :P

...implying that characters with distinct and easy-to-grasp personality types are only found in anime...?

weeblord confirmed

He forgot Clannad though.
By the way, I was very impressed with what I saw. I'm aware that Clannad is somewhat of a love it or hate it show, but for me it was one of the best anime that I have seen. What I would like to ask out of curiosity though is, who's your favourite character in it?
