Why do you think Mah created Zaros and Seren?

Why did she become heavily upset when Zaros first left Freneskae to the point where she started creating lesser clones of him (Mahserrat, Mahkorrat, Mahjarrats, etc)?

Why did Mah try to crush Zaros moments after he was reborn in FotG if Seren said Mah missed him?

Mah was born in this cycle starved of anima. She was like the equivalent of a baby who was starved of oxygen at birth.

I think that she created Zaros and Seren in some desperate attempt to regenerate anima for herself (or at least she might have done for the Children of Mah tribes), and was trying to catch up with her sisters who thought she died.

Another thing I think is that she had the personality of a child who was innocent in her own way and perpetually curious, with attachments to things. This can be shown with Seren who had emotional attachments with her as well as the elves later, indicating that Seren might have inherited the emotional attachments from Mah, while Zaros inherited the curiosity.

As for trying to smash Zaros and the player, it was shown in her nightmares in Children of Mah that she had feared her own creations. And when we beat her nightmares in the dream, we discovered blue ice-like formations in her core. This suggests that Wen might have corrupted her on Freneskae.

According to the Elder Chronicles which also describe Mah as an imaginative child full of wonder and innocence, Wen is shown to be fearful and reflecting on the past. It has also been suggested that there were once far more Elder Gods around and that they're nearly extinct now, so Wen might have been paranoid about what mortal life could do and tried to suppress it by corrupting Mah. This fear may have been as a result of the corruption and it might even have passed on to Zaros and Seren, the latter of whom has a tendency to dwell on past events.

If Mah feared them, why did Zaros say at one point in the past, Mah treated them more like toys (or comfort friends, according to Seren)? Seren also said Mah cried out for Zaros when he left, while doing no harm to Seren.

Wasn't it stated somewhere that she created them so she wouldn't be alone, but because she had the cognitive prowess of a baby she played with them like dolls. The RS Wiki will post your IP Address online

Then why did Seren say Mah feared them. Why did Mah attack Zaros in FotG?

I think the bold part answers your own question. Mah might have treated them like toys in the past, but as far as we know that was before the Mah-whatever tribes showed up.

Now imagine that kind of scenario from the point of view of something that's lacking proper understanding of the situation: all you know is you somehow created these neat things made of dark and light energy. They're self aware, but for the most part to you that's just how things were. Odd, but harmless.

But then the dreams start. You start seeing...things. Things that look similar to your 'toys' but different. You have no idea what they are, but they're different and pretty terrifying if you have no idea how to even comprehend them. Kind of like a strange or scary toy that might've frightened you as a kid in real life if that helps.

Except these dream things are now alive when you wake up. They're aware like the other two toys you made, but unlike the other two these things seem...random.

And then Seren gets involved with the rituals. All of a sudden these things start killing themselves or reproducing more of their own in a ritualistic fashion. On some level you notice that these events line up with how you're ultimately feeling, but you have no sure way to understand the connection.

Until you do. Maybe the rituals focus enough energy your way long enough for you to have a snap realization. Or maybe you just somehow know on an instinctual level. But you just know. The dream things. The toys. The sick feeling that comes and goes with them. They're all connected.

Wouldn't you freak out by that point? Because if my old Barbie and Ken dolls started doing ritualistic crap that made me feel tired/better and got some of my pokemon toys involved with it...I know I would O_o

She feared them leaving.

Mah was alone in the world, so she created two beings to keep her company. Fearing they'd leave her, she bound them together such that one leaving without the other would be very difficult endeavor. Her plan, however, didn't pan out, and Zaros left. So, she made the Mahjarrat and their kin to replace him.

She feared their power over her.

For a while then, Mah was content. She may have lost Zaros, but had others to fill his role. Over time, she grew weaker and slept more and more. While she was sleeping, Seren taught the Mahjarrat to sacrifice themselves to Mah in order to sustain her. Eventually, Seren taught the Mahjarrat to take power back from Mah to create more of their kind, teaching them to do so when Mah had nightmares and thrashed about. And so Mah was left by Seren and had her power, her lifeblood, forcefully taken from her by those she had created.

As for why Mah 'attacked' Zaros in FotG, I'd say it was less an attack and more an attempt to grab her precious 'dolly' before he ran away again. Keep in mind that, for all appearances, Mah liked Zaros best. Enakhra comes to this conclusion at the end of CoM when asked about why there are so few female Mahjarrat (even after Seren had left), and Zaros himself claims to be Mah's firstborn when he demands Jas make him an Elder God during Sliske's Endgame (as in, he was made first and then Seren was made to bind him).

I think it's more likely that she was so far gone that she couldn't tell who or what Zaros/Seren were, let alone anyone else. Elder God dementia, you know.
