I got the impression that she'd heard of the veil and wanted to use it to see her children again, living a fantasy where she was still with them, not to sneak into Gielinor or something. Of course that dream shatters when she finds out the illusion doesn't affect herself. You could be on to something though, she could already be here and we just can't see her.

I thought the veil changed the perception of how people saw YOU. :o That's why Aragnya made it.:P She was crippled and no spider wanted to mate with her. After everyone saw the crippled spiders she bore (because there is no way she could hide "thousands" of spiders under that one veil), they killed her and dared not remove the veil. 0078 says they still see Aragnya as "beautiful" to this day. Elidinis was also planning to use the veil to conceal "what he [Guthix] saw when he looked at me" (a god).

By your logic, since Zamorak can throw fireballs, Zamorak must be the God of Fire :o

Yep. We have to remember that the gods' titles like god of balance, order or chaos do not mean that they control those things.

I know. I just thought the title was more click-baitey lol.

But there would still be a barrier around the planet she would have to get pass... And now that that barrier is gone, she still hasn't returned... HMMM....

Maybe she has not heard yet. Maybe she already is here. Maybeshe went insane and lives alone in a cave in some desolate planet. Maybe she is dead. Who knows.

The title might have been clickbait but the idea that certain gods have unique powers could be interesting. The gods may all have been mortal, but I'm not a fan of "standardising" them. It's far more interesting if they have unique powers and abilities (as a result of their different origins, experiences or knowledge). I'd certainly favour Tumeken having special connection to the sun over him just liking to use fire magic. Maybe some gods can specialise in elemental manipulation (creating a storm would be different from being able to control existing ones), while others are good at telekinesis or transfiguration. It's a bit boring if they can all do the same stuff.
I would say their mortal lives affect their immortal lives. They all might have the potential to do the same stuff but the difference lies in their knowledge, experience and creativity. Sadly they seem to be content with just firing powerful beams at each other. I guess if I had a great and simple way to attack I too would use it over the complicated and inconvinient ones.
NO
I do not ship ZamorakxZaros.
I follow them. And Marimbo, the best t5 god.

Yes the veil changes how people see you, not hot you see yourself, but Elidinis didn't know that. She'd only heard of its ability to "change reality" and wanted to use it to see her children again. Unfortunately, the arachnid poitns out that that isn't how it works.

But do you see? You desire the Veil so that you can change your reality and bring back your family, but that's not how it works. Aragnya was beautiful in the gaze of others, but when she looked at her reflection in the water, the cripple hung before her. Your reality will change for everyone else, but not for you.'

And I don't see anything implying she'd use it to "sneak back in", which isn't how the edicts work anyway. Guthix is asleep, she'd be trying to "fool" a spell.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?

Elidinis: Punishes entire race for killing children they thought were dangerous to their race by murdering the entire race including the remaining children...

Anyways, in the past, there have been theories that Elidinis was the Queen of Ashes. If we incorporate this into that theory it seems like this is her transition period. I wonder if she used the veil to further complete this transition.

I don't think Elidinis is the Queen of Ashes, somehow. Elidinis is the goddess of fertility and, from what this thread theorises, storms. Meaning she might have caused the equivalent of El Nino or monsoons, or some kind of ferocious storm which promoted fertility in soils. This kind of storm would carry nutrients from soil around the Kharidian plains and provide vital rain to maintain it and the jungles. And from what we saw in Aragnya's Tale, she seems to value family and children above all else. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

A) Ashes are well known and widely used fertilizer...
B) If she is the queen of Ashes, we shouldn't look for someone who looks or acts too similar to Elidinis because the veil alters perceived reality.
C) As I pointed out above, she murdered children herself when she destroyed the spider-things race. So while I agree she has a child connection, I'm not sure she "values" them the same way we do.

Or has she?

For all appearances, Aragnya's Tale was written on another plane during the time the Edicts were up:

'Because...' It paused then, deep in thought. 'Because I was banished. For what someone thought I might be capable of, because of what I was. Because of what they saw when they looked at me.'

And yet, the tale was translated and donated to the library after an archaeological dig (indicating that it first arrived on Gielinor quite some time ago).

Given Elidinis' extermination of the native sapient species of the plane in the tale, she is the most likely candidate to have taken the tale away from said plane, and either she or somebody she met (and may follow her) managed to get the tale to Gielinor while the Edicts were up.

Though that does muck up the idea of her being the QoA quite a bit since Queeny was supposedly not able to find Gielinor until the 2015 bonfire lit it up like a Christmas tree and Elidinis or someone near her would have had to have been able to find Gielinor sometime while the Edicts were active to get Aragyna's Tale to Gielinor long enough ago for it to have ended up where it was found.

It could be that Elidinis has canonically returned to Gielinor at the start of the Sixth Age and brought the book with her, but we can't see her since Menaphos is still set in the Fifth Age. You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?
