2. Introduction

When we think of the various Gods, we're usually concerned about their influence on our in-game politics, economy, society and community as a whole. I would like to delve much deeper than that, and show you their relation with life itself, connecting all the way back to the very architects of our universe, the Elder Gods.

As you have undoubtedly noticed, Jas has demanded that we prove, to her and her siblings, why life should continue to exist [1]. Simply put, I would like to point out the tremendous global level of integrated regulation of our Anima Mundi by you, the World Guardian.

It gives a whole new perspective on everything, and it is based on breaking the symmetry of reversible time and the emergence of the arrow of time, so first and foremost, one must see how we are a means of keeping the Anima Mundi the very life force of this world, intact,
I would like to show you what kinds of things can be expected to happen, while explaining everything else.

From a logical point of view, everything in nature acts creatively and cooperates, so what are the consequences?

Life must exist, it is a natural phenomena.

3. Principles:

Here are some basic principles that should help you understand this new way of looking at the universe:

1) there is an arrow to time

2) the fractal reiteration of creative processes, including life, promotes evolution

3) emergent behavior is a fundamental feature of life

4) results cannot be predicted on a linear map from the starting conditions

5) the whole is greater than the sum of its parts

We are perfect examples of this, because we do everything everywhere all the time, maintaining organization. Energy must circulate in order to organize, from where (conscious) life does not want it to be, to where it wants it to be. In other words, we are predetermined to regulate everything in our environment, it is a natural thing as long as we generate more waste, in the form of released energy [3].

At an individual level, we contribute to the Anima Mundi - not in a single way, which tends to be the way the creators try to dissect things - but in a much more holistic way where things interact dynamically and create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts [4].

And the young gods, in some way, facilitate the interaction of humans and other life with their environment. They promote organization at the level of individual and social consciousness, thereby moving away from equilibrium (entropy) with the environment.

So at each stage in this process, the Gods have taken a unique role in the modulation of things, up to the levels of consciousness, where, obviously, they have a fundamental role. In essence, what they modulate is the flow of the energy around them, and every single one of us plays a crucial role in that.

4. Implications

What does this mean from a practical point of view?

Every possible reactions that constitute life are wires, and the leaks occur in the form of energy which we process with divination and (rune) magic - a way of recycling that which has been scattered around the world - restoring balance to the system. This might explain why Sliske would want to lure the Young Gods into systematically killing each other, wanting to release these huge chunks of energy deposits, thereby disturbing our anima as with Guthix's death, which would promote even more entropy - Sliske's ultimate goal.

And so, we have this complexity that generates an arrow of time. At the beginning, we had these primitive interactions by the elder gods, creating worlds, forming these organized structures where energy and mass flow, which in turn indirectly laid the groundwork for the Anima [5].

When we consider this ecosystem, we see that there is a power source, the Elder Gods, and a sink, where disorder increases for the environment. This creates the possibility for organization of all life. In other words, as long as the entropy of the universe increases, the entropy of subsystems can decrease. The process becomes a metastasizing intellectual cancer.

All energy must get consumed to fuel our own organization, otherwise it creates equilibrium (decline) with our environment. Life should move further away from equilibrium if survival were of value. We must apply these principles to manage our ecosystems. Look at it this way: a discharged battery can do absolutely nothing, but a charged battery can do all sorts of things.

The appliance of these concepts implements a resolution to the many paradoxes that emerge when studying the life, death, and differentiation of these living systems.

4. Implications (continued):

In other words, what the Anima Mundi is choosing for is a continuous increase in complexity that allows for an increase in adaptability to our environment, and as we change the environment, it means that we become more complex to move forward, rendering the life on Gielinor more intelligent.

This complexity has been marked by the variety and growth of all races or species, including humans. It echoes through the layers of organization, the nature of how the energy flows through us, it creates creative solutions as we spit it it back out to our environment. More energy would be degraded than would occur than if we did not have the organization. And this pyramids all the way up to our societies.

Simply put, we use the energy around us, always fueled by the need to maintain our organization, to render the rest of the universe stupid or quicker, thereby facilitating the process of fine-tuning our own life-force. Does skilling ring any bells?

What this demonstrates is that physical reality and the consciousness which life creates are one and the same.

5. Problematic

There is an intrinsic problem with trying to describe the fundamental nature of Elder Gods.
For reasons unknown, Mah had become a failure for her kind, becoming corrupted by Wen according to Seren [7], essentially debunking Zaros's belief that she had insufficient Anima [8]. The result of this corruption had made Mah too afraid to even exist, having had a very weak conscience and having been too primitive to evolve quickly enough.

In my view, the Elder Gods are backward-looking creatures, and this is so incredible because our environment requires that we, the backbones of our Anima, can make changes, something that emerges from non-linear relationships, continuously elaborating into new concepts.

The Creators tend to look at what has already happened - be it the havoc caused by races like the Dragonkin [9] and the Gods, the abuse of their Elder Artifacts [10] and therefore their power, or even the destruction of the planes created by them - but they do not like to look into the future, as others who know what is happening, meaning us, may want to make changes to their world.

In other words, the Elder Gods gain power (not literally) by having a high degree of consensus [11], derived from looking back. Of course, you can agree more on what has already happened than if you plan for the future, where what you want to do is agree to disagree: cooperation (Wen being the exact opposite of that).

I propose that a new paradigm for the leadership of Gielinor is needed. I suggest that our creators are the opposite of leadership. The world cannot evolve quickly enough with them ruining the life that co-exists with them. We are the facilitators in the pursuit of this new paradigm, the succesful transaction between our universe and the next, by moving the pieces into position; the Young Gods tend to be its prophets or theorists; and the Elder Gods are its great engineers, who built the monuments and artifacts for life to thrive on.

6. Conclusion

I conclude that we are the driving force in ensuring the survival of our Anima Mundi.
Our biosphere and societies are undergoing a phase change further away from equilibrium. They are maintained by the flow of energy. For example, economies cannot work if things are not bought and sold, it is all governed by the concepts I have outlined for you.

We are seeing fluctuations around the norm. The normal levels of fluctuations might be like that for everything that you look at, and now they are going wild, but it is characteristic for this phase change. If you look at populations moving, or if you look at the ups and downs of the grand exchange, fluctuations from our financial stability, or if you look at the species that are being lost compared to norms, you can see how we are part of this collective energy, because everything connects with everything else.

The world is engaged in a great intellectual battle between these more primitive beings, without enough capabilities to adapt, and more open-minded individuals with more robust mentalities - us.

The stage has been set for a new age of magic interpretation. The continuation of life must be legalized, so to speak, as we, flow dependent structures, balance opposing forces associated with divine energy versus natural energy, thereby restoring the Anima Mundi. I believe that this is the potential that Guthix saw within us on the brink of his death. Thus, our expansion is the result of the conceptual power successfully categorizing the phenomena of life, providing enough conceptual raw material to promote individual exploration and development guided by the concepts presented.

Convincing them is up to you however, perhaps you could make up something else, or even try to kill them with the help of the Young Gods and the Elder Artifacts.

Thank you all for looking into these concepts and have a great time.
