- The Story of Ikov -
Fellow lorehounds,
This thread has several purposes:
- to invent some lore for the neglected Armadylean faction
- to sketch a picture of the gods and humans of the second age, just before the arrival of Zaros
- to introduce some serious reflection on sorcery in Gielinor
- to oppose a silly account according to which Armadyl was naive in the early ages and now is wise
- to develop the forgotten character of Ikov
Its introduction consists chiefly in a long, invented story about the arrival of Armadyl in Gielinor and about his epic journey with Ikov across the world. This is divided into two prologues and ten parts; most of them are followed by some commentary by an invented guardian of Armadyl. The story makes liberal use of scale theory: e.g. the region of Gunnarsgrun*, Draynor Manor, and Draynor Village encompasses as many as a hundred small villages. The introduction also includes some appended bits of lore: some scribblings of Ikov and a guardian's account of Armadyl's remarkable attitude toward writing. Finally, it will begin with a context for this lore I have previously proposed: a runelabs suggestion for a short quest to develop the character of Ikov and the recent history of Kandarin.
