Spoilers if you haven't finished Children of Mah yet read on at your own risk.

So towards the end of children of Mah we had a brief conversation with Seren where we discus if she attacked Mah's core as there are blue crystals around the final core and around the egg remains.

This perhaps brings about the possibility that Seren existed in the previous version of the universe and that she was attempting to prevent the eggs from hatching. If so she almost succeeded. However our Seren is quite different in how she loves Mah like a mother despite being nothing more than a plaything.

However after it was revealed to the Mahjarrat that she manipulated them into performing their rituals due to her belief Mah needed the energy she snapped almost to the point where it looked like she might attempt to attack everyone present.

So this begs the question what is Seren's true nature? Is she really the benevolent god everyone believes her to be? Or was this a slipping of the mask for her?

Because we do know from the dark lord that she does have the potential for evil. So is she going to become evil? Or is she just a god with rather misguided love for those around her? Only time will tell.

What are your thoughts?
The statement below is false.
The statement above is true.

Icy blue crystalline corruption. My first thought is Wen, not Seren.

Indeed although our character seemed to think Seren. However it would make sense for Wen if for some reason she started to feel guilt about the cycle.

Seeing your own mother dying and having to mercifully kill your mother to end her suffering, it is painful. Seren was under great grief. Moreover, it was fueled by her rage when she found out Zaros and the Mahjarrat were siphoning energy from Mah.

She is governed enteritely by emotion unlike Zaros who is governed by logic. What she did to the Mahjarrat might be wrong but without the ritual, the whole Freneskae will be destroyed.

She snapped like many other beings with emotion when under great stress. You had to kill your mother, you found out your siblings (Zaros and Mahjarrat) were the cause of your mothery dying and afterwards, your siblings blamed you for everything that happened. It all happened at the same time.

After the quest ended, Kharshai said that perhaps the ritual was the only barrier between their race and chaos. The ritual taught the Mahjarrat to rely on each other and form an alliance. Without the ritual, the Mahjarrat may destroy each other.

Wen could be real mother of Z+S. She is ice cold logic and very cold mind, and yet she has beauty of pure, clean, blue ice crystal, extremely sensitive of any impurity and roughness, yet still very hard in belief and affection, making it very emotional.

Since Wen is also inversion, she could invert onto herself, breaking itself to 2 mountains - and 2 opposites, as Z+S is, and who else would be better to make it all real, than the very mother and essence of Potential, and also light and dark?

I'd guess there were 2 sides - one - Ful+Jas, constancy + progression (making constant progression), and Wen+Mah - Inversion + Potential (making dualism). Bik is still a mystery, since alteration doesn't really fit, and she is only goddess left alone as secluded island in the sea. She considers herself most important anyway - that's why Zaros would try to contact her first, since she, altough weakest elder goddess, can be a change(alteration) between 2 power groups.

Alongside what has already been said, don't forget that the Mahjarret fear death to an unnatural level, missing how death and finality are gifts to mortals. They provide focus, purpose, and the opportunity for growth in one's place upon death. Seren helped them escape the curse of the gods, being unable to die naturally, with her rituals, which were balanced between death and birth.

Basically, everything she had ever done has been out of love for her followers, or love for Mah.

When the people she thought she was saving berate her and blame her for all their problems, she can't bear the idea that all her attempts to help may have only led to more suffering. So she snaps.

As for her almost killing the Mahjarrat... as someone already said, she is governed by emotion, not logic. She acts on impulse, and at the time she was angry and distressed. When Zaros pointed it out, she stopped, because she doesn't want to hurt people. Then she directed her anger at Zaros.

I think she does have a bit of an ego though. "Oh, you are travelling to the Ritual Site with utmost urgency, and need all the information you can get? No, no, I want you to say 'thank you' for saving your life though." Though I'm sure we would all be a bit vain if we had the constant love and adoration of everyone around them. As for the whole Dark Lord thing, everyone has a dark side.

On a side note, I wonder if Mah's death weakened or destroyed the link between Zaros and Seren. They were right next to each other and didn't instantly become attracted like it was claimed. Although that could be because Seren's anger was stronger. And Zaros DID try to defend her and talk Zamorak down, but that could also be because he knew how she could get.

Totally natural for the Mahjarrat to fear death that much. Unlike mortals (Mahjarrat are Tier 7 Divine beings), they have no afterlife.

Pretty sure it's Wen. Seren and Zaros were created much later, at least 10.000 years after the birth of the current univers. EXP is not important, it's important to have fun and play with your friends.:) -Lopendebank3
