Some people aren't a huge fan of the wiki. Reason being is that it is somewhat bias. For example, the wikia portrays Zamorak as the "satan" of Runescape, when he is in fact a grey character and has redeeming spots. The wikia also sugar coats Saradomin and all his good spots and does not take his bad parts into deep depth, which is understandable. It is hard for any "primer" to stay neutral. One has to take a side, and many people will consider it "bias" if it does not go their way. The wikia may say Seren is the goddess of peace and tranquility. Some opposing person may say you are giving her too much credi,t and she deserves to be touched upon more with her fiasco with the Mahjarrat, etc.

If that's an issue, I haven't noticed. My problem with the wiki is that it's often outdated and has information that isn't sourced and likely pulled from someone's ass. It's little more than fanfiction yet it remains unchallenged.

One famous example is Azzanadra's participation in the Battle of Uzer...the battle he DIDN'T participate in because he was clearly locked in the pyramid at this time. Nevertheless this was repeated ad nauseam by gullible people who believed the sourceless wiki so much that it was practically considered fact. It got to the point that it was referenced in Dishonor Among Thieves even though it was impossible for this to happen. Eventually this was corrected, but it just goes to show you how inaccurate and unchallenged the wiki can be at times.

This, again.
The Asgarnian ale must flow.

As long as the OP doesn't look at those obscure areas of lore like King Raddallin and the Battle of the Uzer, the OP should be fine. The timeline listed in the link I gave him should be fine.

Most of the lore is self-contained within the smaller story "questlines". People kind of overloaded you with the overarching stuff mainly present in the sixth age "elder god" line for example, but that is only very loosely tied to something like the "cave goblin" series.

Mainly just keep in mind that quests are sorted in two categories: fifth age and sixth age. Think of it like BC/AD, with sixth age quests and content following the events of The World Wakes, which is kickstarted by the events of Ritual of the Mahjarrat (5th age). The rule of thumb is that, unless they make a point to state otherwise, the timeline is in the order content is released: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Game_updates

Also note that many questlines, such as the morytania and pirate ones, have "recap NPCs". The pirates have one who will sing you a merry tune in Port Sarim and the two kids in Burgh De Rott will remind you of the morytania quests. This can help if you've forgotten key events since you last did one.

Here's a great page on Quest Series: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_quest_series
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

One of the Elder Goddesses, Mah, the youngest and most childish of the Elders, had the strange ability to create sentient life, capable of moving, walking, and perceiving emotion. Horrified by these abominations, her four other sisters sent one of their own, Wen, to corrupt and destroy her. They deprived her of planets to devour, and she now sits starved and comatosed on the dead planet Freneskae.

Ahem. That is not true. Mah was supposed to wipe out mortal life and she did so in the previous revisions of the universe, "whether she did so instinctively or consciously". Mortal life did come to life on its own from the anima and this revision's Mah wasn't capable of destroying it.

But in a livestream, it was also said she created butterflies and played with them, too, and it fascinated her childlike curiosity. However, the other sisters thought her a freak and secluded her. Wen sabotaged her because of whatever reason, perhaps because of her dangerous interest with other forms of life. We've known around fotg that she was a loner type. Perhaps she went rogue, against the other Elder Gods' agenda.

Is there a recording of this livestream left? Seems like an interesting watch.
