Hello friends!

I need your help and your ears, since my uncultured American ears are failing me. I am having a spot of trouble comprehending exactly what Mod Joe said in the last Road to Menaphos video after about 1:45. The link to the youtube video is https://youtu.be/rvBggr5XVfA?t=1m42s of you can just listen to Mod William's post on the future update subforum

Anyhow, Mod Joe talks about the new slayer dungeon in Sophanem and then mentions the price of admission: your cat can't save your soul this time! You will need feathers of - well, I can't tell. Did Mod Joe say feathers of Mah, the elder god who allegedly "corrupted" Amascut? Mah did not have feathers though, she looked like something composed of obsidian to me.

Ma'at would make more sense, since Kharidian lore borrows mainly from Old Egyptian culture (with a bit of Arabic, Turkic, and Berber added for flavor). Ma'at was the system of justice and harmony in Classical and Aincient Egypt, as well as the goddess of justice. And it is not like Jagex hasn't inserted the names of the Egyptian gods into the game before. Apep, Heru, and Aten have all made it into the game. However, my American ears insist that Mod Joe did not pronounce the feminine suffix t at the end of Ma'at.

It could be his accent though. But one other thing English speakers may not pronounce or even hear is the sound indicated by the apostrophe in the middle of the name Ma'at unless you speak Cockney. It is not the quite the glottal stop that folks with a Cockney accent may make in the middle of a word like butter, but it is close.

Complicating things, Ma'at was pronounced Mú'`a in the New Kingdom period, which does have a glottal stop and is missing the feminine t.

When I first heard the video, I thought he said Mah too.

However, in Ancient Egyptian mythology, before being able to pass on to the afterlife, humans had to have their souls weighted against the feather of Ma'at, and if the soul weighed more, the human was impure and would have their soul eaten by the divine lioness Ammit the Devourer.

Therefore, I'm certain he said Ma'at.

The legendary creators have been long gone from this world. When they return, they'll be surprised and angered of their creations' new sapience. Meanwhile, the world's most elite, summoned to be its guardians, have abandoned their purpose and intend to plunge the world into chaos. -- Bionicle or RS?

Ok, but like, who is Ma'at in terms of RuneScape lore tho...? 0_o

Who is Aten?

Ma'at doesn't necessarily have to be a person, ma'at could be a concept. In fact, ma'at was a concept and Ma'at was the personification of that concept.

A personification that liked wearing a big ostrich feather in her headband.

Ok, now that the dropping of the t is being blamed on Mod Joe's accent, where do you suppose the feathers will come from? The feathers could come from certain divine birds, like Tumeken himself (though only his head is feathered), or Armadyl, since he's all about justice. Or it might be some phoenix since that has been done a few times already. It's not likely that the vultures outside Sophanem drop such special feathers.

Or could it be just another in-game currency?
