Once Upon a time, when JMods appeared on random threads far more often, (well they are really busy these days!), I asked for the History of Korasi's sword so I could add it to the official RS wiki (R.I.P.). So by request in Lore FC, I am providing this copy. Make of it what you will.

History of Korasi's sword

The void knights have been involved in a grinding war with the Pest for about 23 years. With the lack of a large military budget, due to being exiled from Falador, magically reinforced mithril was typically the metal of choice. Not only was it much cheaper and much more readily available than Adamant or Runite, but also much less unwieldy so a lot less experience was needed when using it. To date even their robes have plate of mithril sewn into them. The robes are then magically reinforced which makes it nearly as defensive as adamant It also the reason it requires 42 defence instead of 30 like normal mithril armour.

Void knights also typically use a crystal with a Disrupt ability in weaponry, which you can see used by the Void Knight in Pest control in the form of the Void Knight mace. This is the standard issue weapon for Void Knights as that ability is required both on the theatre level against Pests and single targets. The main problem with the mace is it being unwieldy to use and prone to its crystal head shattering. This makes the weapon somewhat unreliable, but still needed in battle.

The problem with the mace led to the development of Korasi's sword. While Runite would have been better it was out of reach of the military budget to acquire in bulk, even adamant was hard to come by if you were not an experienced and wealthy adventurer. Unlike most Void Knight equipment though, Korasi's sword has an adamant base as it was easier to enchant than mithril and was required for the sword to be effective.

The swords design is patterned on the scimitar with the idea of a sword with the slashing edge of the scimitar but the stabbing point of the long sword to pierce chitin. It was then inlayed with a crystal tip for the Disrupt ability of the mace but without the brittleness of its mace counterpart. This is why the sword has the odd curvature at its tip, which has a core of crystal.
While the sword is not a prototype it has also only just gone into production. It is also far more expensive and has a much longer production time than the mace, which is why so few Void Knights have them as of yet.

(This is pre-sixth age and that is all I have on that.)

Geeze, I'm actually really thankful for you posting this - I've been really interested in metal-magic interactions for a while now and this gives a little bit more insight into that with adamant being easier to enchant than mithril, and magically-reinforcing mithril being a thing that exists. The disrupting crystal part is neat info too -- question though, what exactly does it disrupt? Magic in general, or is it just law-based magic (the portals) that it disrupts? Do we know? Mods pls notice me

I don't think we know the specifics, but judging by the name it's an explanation for the sword's special attack of the same name. It at least seems capable of disrupting some of the Pest queens attacks going by The Void Stares Back.

Since Korasi says her sword's enchanted with "magics to combat the void", I'd wager whatever they "disrupt" is related to the void specifically and not other forms of magic (wait do the void actually use magic or is it more of a sci-fi alien powers thing? I suppose it doesn't make a difference). Although being all lightning-y it probably still hurts.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

So, did a JMod say this, and do you have a source, or is this just headcanon?
I was stated by a JMod as I mentioned as "when JMods used..." in the OP, I suppose I should have made it far clearer. The problem is the source was a thread reply in this forum from years ago. And As I said, in OP as well, it is practically word for word.

Ask Jagex to dig through any saved files for the Lorum and they will find it, if they kept it. But as of right now I do not have my crystal ball.

*Engage rant mode*
NOTE: THAT TEXT IS NOT HEADCANON
But I also do not know the context in which is was provided by said JMod, or if the text is in Jagex Lore Book, or part of the developers notes, and if part of their notes if thaey left a copy for future JMods. It was provided, I cleaned it up a bit, and posted that very text in the Official RS wiki.

If I seem snippy, it is because it is a sore topic with me. I spent WEEKS chasing the blasted JMod and other sources to finally get the low down on something that has not been told. To get new lore, I am a lorehound after all! Only for everyone to call it either made up lies or headcanon. Now that discussion...no ragefest was more like it, had me find myself in a pointless storm in a teacup, then again that was a time when everyone screamed at everyone for sources and got nasty about it even when they were supplied. -.- It's why I gave up trying to update the blasted wiki at all.

Sure it might have been retconned at some point or not officially recorded in the Jagex Lore Bible, but if it has then they told no one the story that replaced the one they never told anyone to start with, the very one I had to chase down.

*Disengage rant mode*

As I said before, make of it what you will. Meaning if you want to think it is headcanon, fine. If you want to ask a JMod for further confirmation, fine. If you wan to take it as canon, but with minor tweaks, fine.

But at the day I was asked for the text and I supplied it with the hope I'd hear no more about it. You could ask Mod Osborne , but I have strong doubts they'd know of a text that was supplied in an old Lore Forum thread if it was not copied in to a source for general JMod use. That in itself would not make it canon or headcanon, but undecided. That last point, being why I agreed to the request by a Lore Fc member to supply the text at all, so they could then find out. Or just enjoy a quick read, if they did not want to go that far.

There was actually a fuller explanation of what the void mace disruption crystal itself actually did at one point, at about the same time as I transcribed that text. But a long search through every major and minor Void Knight related text finds it to have been removed or moved, I cannot even find that now. But the supplied text above hints at what it did say, so it seems that "History" is now the last example left.

See you in game, Elf :)

I estimate the source to have been supplied err...well this is going to take some digging. After June 2010 obviously, and some time after the Lore Forum release, I think. The biggest problem was the removal of the official wiki which the editing noted would have given me a very close date for it..

I'll update this post soon, I hope.
