So, Dave and Saradomin both mention that Zamorak built Daemonheim and the Sinkholes.

Was this an oversight on the Dev's part, or do Gods and Evil people not know that the Dragonkin built it?

As far as I am aware: Bilrach was the one who dug down building the lower layers. The Kin built what is up top, with a few more recent cubby holes attched on to Bilrach's work..

I always thought the floors and rooms were already there, Bilrach just "connected" them, or something. Idk my lore knowledge there was always a bit weird. The RS Wiki will post your IP Address online

Zamorak didn't make anything, Bilrach was the one who led an excavation downwards and filled what was at first empty labyrinths, that's what I assumed.

Dave is a blithering fanboy and Saradomin blames Zamorak specifically for every misdeed his followers do themselves, like Dawn.

Bilrach did more than just that. After becoming the top corporate general of Zamorak’s army, he gradually learned about the castle atop the various floors we call Daemonheim. As he started digging there, his genius for management created mammoth underground complexes for the advanced development of cutting-edge magical research, being responsible not only for connecting the dungeons, but also for constructing them entirely.

He gained the unique ability to rejuvenate without conventional rituals, and summoned many powerful creatures in the process, with most bending to his will, thereby securing his underground empire from the rest of the world. Deeply within, the most advanced projects of Zamorak’s special command headquarters remained hidden from most unwanted visitors.

Operating as a totally independent clandestine enterprise sheltered within Bilrach's vast underground protectorate, its secrets were virtually unknown to the Zamorakian hierarchy for ages. As such it would seem quite easy for outsiders, even Saradomin and his followers, who had not been properly informed by their own intelligence, to be confused about this hidden base, let alone find it. Therefore, one should take their remarks with a grain of salt.

From what has been written, the whole thing seems not only confusing but macabre as well.

In the many underground sites where the 'retaliatory dungeons’ were being made, an army of forced laborers and warriors had worked themselves to death under terrible conditions, digging small tunnels themselves, in which the larger creatures could no longer possibly fit.

Interestingly, at some point he wrote he started using magic to carve through the soil himself, evidently requiring greater effort. Soil means raw earth, and there seems no other entity with the same capabilties to create complex structures within, other than the Dragonkin, of whom one was known to have built a deep laboratory near the warped zone.

Likely, it remained the small hub for Kerapac that it is today, and could not have been more other than some primitive passageways which linked his dungeon to the surface. And even though Bill's architecture strongly resembles Kerapac's, it would seem futile for the latter to construct the same insane amount of extensive dungeons with no other inhabitants or purpose.

I wouldn't consider it a lore fail.

The Dragonkin at least made the surface levels of Daemonheim, and likely made some parts of the lower levels given the demonstrated control over them and the resource dungeons they created.

However, Bilrach had to either excavate abandoned rooms or build entirely new ones on his way down to the bottom of Daemonheim.

As far as anybody alive outside of the World Guardian and Dragonkin are aware, 'Bill' was responsible for constructing the lower depths of Daemonheim at Zamorak's behest.

The dragonkin only built the stuff above ground. Bilrach built just about everything else. And given that there's the possibility that Zamorak was "possessing him", it may have well been Zamorak after all. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Bill deserves the credit for most of the work being done under there. The massive pool of slave labor, portal magic, and other exotic and abundant resources at the dark one's disposal indicate that the vast majority of dungeons were designed and constructed by him only.

Note that some of the higher level resource dungeons contain Kal'Gerion demons and Gorajo, which were discovered by Bilrach alone and thus unlikely to have been in use before.

He mentions digging through "bedrock", "soil"and "land" multiple times, which implies nothing more than cutting through the earth's crust with his portal magicand slaves. Only after carving through the earth, he subsequently developed it into complex cavern networks with adequate apparatus and infrastructure, enough to supply small cities, aiding his search.

Kerapac kept to himself for all that time and indulged himself into magical theory, only to toy with his race's genetic features, and surely not to purposelessly dig other vast structures just for the hell of it...

Just what are the odds of the Dragonkin putting dozens of now abandoned rooms under their stronghold, unless they purposely used it to conserve their colony from exterior threats?
