I started playing this game over ten years ago before quitting for a very long time. I've come back recently to see a lot has changed. Lodestones, tool belts, and a giant flippin' crater near Lumbridge to name a few.

I also seem to be the World Guardian now. (Or I've always been? I will admit the details of the quests I've gone on are very hazy after these long years.)

This is a piece of lore I really feel I should know since it's about me. Refresh my memory, please: When did this happen? How? and what does it mean for me?

STOP!

This relates to a *VERY* important piece of lore, perhaps the most important in the game at the moment. Do not interact further with the lore community, do not ask players about this and, if you can help it, do not play any content until you have completed the quest entitled

The World Wakes

You can start this quest near Ardougne.
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you[...]For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?

During The World Wakes (
Possible Spoilers incoming
):

You become a Guardian of Guthix, by passing a few trials and helping the other Guardians in an attempt to protect Guthix from invading forces. You then meet Guthix; unfortunately, you meet him just as the Mahjarrat Sliske strikes a killing blow on him with the Staff of Armadyl. Guthix calls you to him telepathically, and tells you that he is dying.
He then teleports you to a world of his memories, revealing his origins, history, and a brief look at his homeworld, explaining that he has temporarily slowed the passing of time around the two of you, so that he may show you this.
Upon reaching the end, he tells you that he has bestowed even more power on you, so that you may do what he was unable to.. protect the world from the young gods. He dubs you 'the World Guardian.'
Shortly after awakening, Saradomin returns and after a brief conversation, attempts to teleport you out of the cavern. His spell has no effect, and he asks you if Guthix gave you powers. It has been revealed that the World Guardian is able to resist divine energy, thanks to the powers Guthix gave you. It's not full protection, but young gods, even Zaros, are unable to use certain magics on you without your permission.

Basically, the 'World Guardian' is self-explanatory. Your job is to Guard the World from any threats against it, though the main threat (according to Guthix) is the impending violence and destruction brought on by the young gods.
A
World Guardian
must learn to find
Balance
in themselves.
Only then can they
Control
themselves and forge their own
Fate.

I believe you need a combat level of 100 to start this quest, which you do not currently have, so you might not be able to start it. I may be wrong as it's listed as 'not started' rather than 'not eligible' on your RuneMetric* page, but if you are not able to start it, I would recommend only doing quests with a 'V' in the top-right of their icons until you're able to do The World Wakes since quests without this symbol may contain spoilers about the events in this quest.

What you basicaly need to know is that since World Wakes many quests are considered to have taken place in the past, even if the player hasn't really done them. This includes pretty much all quests before and including World Wakes, which is when everything changes and RuneScape moves from the Fifth Age to the Sixth Age, age of the gods.

As an example, While Guthix Sleeps, Ritual of the Mahjarrat and Dorgeshuun series all take place in the past, meaning that you may meet characters your character has canonically met, but haven't really seen in any of the quests. This is why some characters may talk to you like you have known them for a long time, or why there are references to events you as a player haven't experienced yet.

Yep, PizzaHatt was right. I can't start the quest yet. That's a pretty steep requirement for a quest so lore-critical, but I have plenty of Fifth-Age quests to do in the meantime so I should be good.

they purposely made it have almost no requirements... the 100 cb is mostly so you'll actually have a chance against the bosses

I dont see why they need that as a req though since you probably wont be killing them as a level 7 anyway

I mean uh... what bosses?

It's almost impossible to win at the required level, at least back when the EoC formula was in place. Level 145 vs. Kree' Arra was ****ing Level 3 man VS. Zamorak.

I recommend getting 75 in all combat skills, (melee at least), and banking a load of pots and rocktails. When was the last time you played anyways?

Oh yeah, the lore, um you're in for a treat, do Ritual of the Mahjarrat and you're set.

I did the bosses when the quest first came out, and they were (aside from their easily avoided extra mechanics) quite easy to kill

I meant it more as not giving the person spoilers but it having been already too late

the last time I played seriously was probably between 1.5 and 2 years ago
