I'm ashamed I have to, in a way, actually praise a TH promo for not being idiotic, but these are the sad days we live in.

Before I talk about the loot duels promo, I'd just like to say that as a whole, your post makes no sense: do you, or do you not like TH? At first you say you don't, but later you praise Jagex for doing a good job with one of its promos and hope to see it again in the future. It looks like you don't actually know what you like.

Who or what is forcing you to praise a TH promo? Is someone paying you to do it as your job? If you have free will, you don't have to randomly lower your standards.

If you actually disliked TH, you'd want it gone no matter what Jagex tried to "improve" it. That's because Solomon's store exists, which will always be more consumer-friendly than TH, unless TH became Solomon's store, at which point TH might as well be removed anyway, since it'd be redundant to have 2 identical shops like that.

Now, about loot duels and "player choice", the "choice" that loot duels offers isn't done for our (players) benefit, it's one of those experiments that Jagex is doing in preparation of some countries having begun investigations on regulating loot box systems like TH. Otherwise, if Jagex truly cared about us, they'd let us choose without RNG at all, such as with Solomon's store.

Loot duels isn't exactly the first promo like this either; clairvoyance for example did something like this already in the past. Not the exact same thing, but similar.

No, I don't like Treasure Hunter but it's not going anywhere and this is the economic reality we have to live in. I'm not sure you understand that.

The stream of promotions is constant and many of them are harmful to integrity of the game. I might as well praise a promotion that's done right instead of criticising Treasure Hunter as a whole because that's been done thousands of times and resulted in absolutely nothing. What I'm saying is I'd prefer to see Loot Duels instead of some other ridiculous promotions. That's the point of my feedback.

I don't "lower my standards" in any way by saying that I like a small part of a larger thing I don't like overall.

We get xp items on TH very likely because players want them. It is not just TH, but also the same case in other RNG based game features, even Clue Scrolls. Why do Jagex add xp stars to Clue Scrolls? To me it is really obvious because players want them.

If there were no xp items on TH, it could be really really worse. Perhaps we can see from how bad the reaction of the Red Death Redemption Online beta so far because they have not put loot boxes there yet. Instead of loot boxes like in GTA Online, Take Two is experimenting xp buffs selling for real money. As expected, most players are crying even louder now because loot boxes are optional with nice to have but not mandatory stuff but now they are forced to pay real money or lack way way behind the spenders.

Same thing will absolutely happen with Jagex if there was no TH. I am sure they will have to sell xp items and buffs for runecoins or Jcoins directly and... don't forget unlike TH keys, runecoins and Jcoins won't drop in game. :(

Ironman don't want xp boost items. Otherwise, why don't Jagex let ironman get lamps and stars from TH?

In "economic reality", if enough many people don't buy something, said something will become unprofitable and a company with brains will change something to fix that. One common change, when you're selling multiple products and one of them becomes unprofitable, is to just stop producing the unprofitable product. In this case, Jagex could easily remove TH, as it's just code that can be taken out from the release build of the game.

Whether or not enough many people will stop accepting bad practices like TH is another question, but there's always a chance. Morale is one factor: the more people you have not accepting those practices, the more people will be convinced to do the same. If you give up, the same can happen in a respective chain.

Just saying, if you aim to keep playing, you shouldn't give up.

Again, are you implying that loot duels isn't a harmful promo to the game's integrity? It's still handing out a plethora of exp, isn't it? Even if it was less harmful to the game, it's still very much harmful to the game, and has no place in it. How can something harmful to the game be something that has "been done right"? It makes no sense, you've just given up, which is something that Jagex expected you to do. Prove them wrong and don't give up, that's how real changes are made, even if it takes long.
