I'd like to start a petition to remove Treasure Hunter from RS3 and replace it with another system that would work better.

Treasure Hunter, doesn't matter how you look at it, is straight up a gambling system. This is my opinion and I'm holding onto regardless what you may say. It is overall bad for not only RS but also its players.

As I said in a post before which was in a thread that was moved to section no one could see unless they logged in, I believe Jagex realized RS3 is running slow (in term of game progress) compared to other games in the market which mostly, players could jump right in and start enjoying contents. RS3, on the other hands, is much slower.

And as I said in that post, if I had no idea RS existed, I wouldn't have started it today and wait 2,3,4 years before I could join the end game and be with the cool people.

I don't blame Jagex on this because RS started out as a slow-pace community game, but it's not really a community game as it once was. The majority don't log in to to be with "friends." Instead, everyone is after XP. Because, of course, XP is a big part of joining the end game.

Instead of gambling on Treasure Hunter for XP, I suggest a new system that sells XP.

Many of you might disagree with me. But, I'm not a person of the past and I think that in today society, it is normal to integrate in real life and games.

A. You work hard in real life, you make good money, you buy XP.
B. You don't work, you make no money, you stay at home playing RS, you gain XP through gameplay.

This thread is solely my personal opinion that's up for discussion. I don't think the term game integrity is relevant. In my understanding, people who dislikes TH invented this term to make themselves "special" aka "I don't buy xp, I'm righteous and moral."

To me, game integrity means "I don't cheat."

Isn't this basically TH? (Especially during xp promotions)

Moved to a better suited section.

Also no support. I like Treasure Hunter as it is now. It's been part of the game now for so long that I don't even think it can be removed or replaced by anything else.

If it's removed it will effect millions of people and they are the people that help support the upkeep to RS3 and Old School. Without them buying spins Jagex would be striggling for any profits to reinvest back into the game.

In general I'd agree that selling exp without gambling involved is better than selling exp via gambling, but not only is not selling exp at all even better, but your (OP's) posts also seem to contain quite many illogical points:

1. You seem to arbitrarily want Runescape to compete with other instant gratification games, even though there's a market for the opposite types of games (just look at OSRS for one) & Runescape was intended to fit that market, rather than the "if you don't want to play or don't have the time, just pay to skip most of the gameplay". As it is, RS3 doesn't stand a chance against other games in the instant gratification category, because its graphics are inconsistent and generally not up to today's standards, as well as the combat system suffering greatly from the 0.6s tick system and tile system. There's a reason why RS3 has steadily kept declining over the years, because it doesn't fit the slow pace market anymore and it's not good enough for the fast pace market.

2. Even though you try to shrug the game integrity thing as unimportant, reading along the lines, I'm getting the image that you think that as long as something isn't against the rules, it's not cheating, which is why it feels to me like you think buying exp isn't cheating. If I read that correctly, that's just plain sad: getting something prestigeous in the game without playing the game to get it, whether against the rules or not, is and always will be cheating. You might not get banned or otherwise punished for it, but in common sense, it is cheating.

3. How is the second option even a consideration from your part? You don't agree with the gambling aspect of TH, but if you removed exp from TH and kept whatever remains in there, TH would still be disgusting gambling in a video game played by children.

Overall, when a game is already monetized, like RS is with membership, MTX have no place in it. MTX belong to F2P games only, since they have to profit somehow.

People thought the same about the old combat system, yet EoC happened and is now a pretty good system too. Sounds to me like you're just scared; TH can easily be removed, it's not required to keep the game running at all, as you can see from Jagex's own financial statements available online. RS3 would survive, don't you worry. > )

The whole point of MTX monetization is short term thinking; get as much money as possible now, without caring about the future. Again, if you go look for Jagex's financial statements available online, they show that these "record-breaking profits" only benefit the shareholders, not us players/the game's development.

What kind of excuse is that?? We just reworked 2 skills that are 4 times as old as TH and are way more integrated into the game that directly affects 100% of the player base (TH does not affect ironman, not directly).

I feel like that's blowing things way out of proportion.

Petition to who? Deaf ears?

Who are petitioning? I see nobody but just OP perhaps.

RS3 and OSRS are both instant glorification games that players can buy end game items because of Bonds. Why don't you call for removing Bonds from both RS3 and OSRS? Why don't you petition for replacing Bonds in RS3 with buying xp?

Practically if I were Jagex, if I was going to bring in more buying instant glorification items into their games, regardless they are RS3, OSRS or new games, I would keep everything as is (that is TH, Bonds, Runcoins, etc) as is but add new things like buying Thalers, Respect, Castle Wars Gold tokens, etc.

I think OP's "petition" is actually giving Jagex's smart monetization designers new monetization ideas more than anything else. :D
