@Kalea Sprite

I would continue to play too.

When I made that comment I was referring to rare/discontinued item owners such as myself. I know there can be different sub-categories but I was referring to anyone with a rare. I personally don't flip/merchant/or stand around in W2. :P

As for your last statement, I think a lot of "older" players are hostile towards this proposed idea simply because it isn't fair to anyone who actually put blood, sweat, and tears in obtaining their rare. Not everyone who owns a party hat is an elitist who manipulates the market and has billions in their bank and can afford to take billions in loss. For example, I own a party hat. Unfortunately, I don't have anymore or even a billion in the bank. It took me years to obtain my party hat. I would be in shock if they were released simply because of the price tag or to allow people to dress up the way they want.

At the end of the day it is just a game but that doesn't take away from the hard work and dedication players put into their account stats and wealth.

The best analogy I could think of in this situation is what if I told you that Noxious Scythe you just saved up for is only going to cost 5m in the general store because the majority of the player base believes 270m for a weapon is just too much? Or how about that Praesul codex you just received as a drop only costs 15m now instead of 688m because it wasn't fair to the majority of the players? We could also use Blood dye and Third-Age dye as an example...Is dye really worth 2+ billion? It only gives a cosmetic difference.

That's how I feel about the issue.

Dog. The flip range of partyhats is an added 200-300m PER flip, added ontop of any other items that are used by players like you or me. Partyhats are just an overpowered bonus on top of everything else. Rich get richer quicker.

They make billions given a short period of time using one item. Can you do that with 3a which has maybe at most a mil or 2 margin on the full sets with just as limited a supply?

What we are capable of doing using items set on more stable markets like the GE. Is severely underpowered in comparison.

I feel you're clumping everyone with a party hat in one category, not everyone who owns one uses it to flip/merchant. I for one am scared to even sell it because I genuinely believe if I did I would never be able to afford one again. Also, not everyone profits all the time. There are plenty of players that make bad investments or sell at the wrong time and lose out on hundreds of millions of gp.

Not every partyhat owner is an elitist, correct! I'm one example of that. If you actually obtained your partyhat via 100 or 1000s of hours of pvm then props to you, you're a dedicated scaper indeed. You might be in shock you lost billions of coins but don't worry the time and hours spent on this game surely is more valuable and expensive to you than a partyhat item right? It's alright, people lose their banks all the time by getting lured, scammed, glitches or price drops.

Although the scenario isn't familiar the price drops are e.g d claws, ags.

That is another good reason partyhats should be rereleased. That way nobody will need to be scared of losing millions of gp or obtaining the item. I'm glad that we can at least both agree that the prices of partyhats are overboard, given your fear to sell it.

I appreciate your reply and I can relate to your analogy because I had worked hard and grinded skills for months and years to get a Saradomin and Armadyl Godsword. This was years back when these Godswords were about 100m. When they crashed and the new stuff became just as expensive if not more I was like, "Wow, here we go again." And I started again to try and get the Drygores, etc. For me, the feeling of loss was only momentary because I wasn't flip/merch-investing these things, I actually used them for slayer tasks and, to this day, I still sometimes use my hard earned Saradomin Godsword for slayer tasks.

So, I understand that loss, but it's really just a part of the game because they are constantly updating and refreshing the game, I think most people recognize that.

However, Noxious Scythe, Praesul codex, Blood dye and Third-Age dye can be replenished, even as they are consumed and removed from the game, more can be found to replenish the supply. Also, these are high level items since you need the stats to wear the gear.

In contrast, Partyhats are a low level cosmetic item, you don't need any stats to wear it. The major difference is that when Partyhats are removed from the game via banned accounts, etc., their supply cannot be replenished and this creates a situation which flip/merch-investors exploit. Flip/merch-investing has become overpowered and must be nerfed.

I think the positive outcomes outweigh any negative outcomes, thus I support threads such as this and for many other reasons I support the release of low level cosmetic items, like the Partyhats, once again.
'O.o'
Something interesting happened.

Yeah maybe could support this, but you don't NEED party hats, therefore its a luxury commodity that shouldn't ever be less than what it is. I will never own one, even if I get the money for them because they are useless and purely cosmetic. Not everyone is entitled to having a party hat.

To Delay. Just a few things..

Your scythe example is flawed because noxious has top tier stats, is able to be made in game and is on the stable GE market. Vote for it's price is as simple as supply and demand.

Not all partyhats owners flip them and some legitimately earned one, true. But they have the ability to do so if they wished. And saying not every owner profits from them is wrong, simply owning it makes them worth more money, billions, simply off its manipulated rising inflation alone. Whether they participate in manipulation or not, they get the benefit from it.

If you sold your blue now, you'd be able to buy the full set from the store. Possibly. Win win?

Some owners make poor flips, commonly the uninformed owner not participating in the manipulation, meaning in essence they get scammed by the informed. Maybe we should stop the reign of manipulation at the source. The items they manipulate.
Your opinions here can affect us all. Please post for the better

Doesn't matter. If the arguement is flipping partyhats is overpowered, you can flip multiple dyes at the same time instead. You can flip multiple 3a at the same time instead. You can flip multiple t92s at the same time instead. The margins on T92 and dye flipping can be quite high. Since the focus is only on partyhats (strangely) you can also flip multiple black santa hats (which are very expensive now).

If the arguement is that partyhats should be rereleased, should they rerelease black santa hats too? The focus only on partyhats weakens the rerelease arguement, but wanting to rerelease the black santa too brings up issues.

This is simply not compelling. You know going into it when you bought an SGS and AGS that more would enter the game and the price would lower. You also knew going into it that they would release better items over time. Thus, it would be realistic to assume they would go down over time.

It would not be an obvious assumption that buying partyhats or any other discontinued items such as black santa hats (a newer rare from Jagex) that they would release more into the game. It would be realistic to assume they would go up over time due to them being discontinued.

The only Phats that should come back into game are the ones from banned accounts.

New colors like orange, pink, black, brown, or whatever other color doesn't exist yet would be fine until a limited number of them come into the game.

I wouldn't mind having a chance to get a Phat or other discontinued that was taken from a banned account then added to Treasure Trails, or a new color Phat.
Hi.
