Please do not mistake this thread as being one of an open general recruitment thread. This thread is for developing and forming an ADMIN+ ONLY staff for our already existing clan.

I went in search of clarification from Jagex explaining in exact detail the purpose and intended use of this thread. Above i have included in quote the response i received. That response was by (Mod Shauny - RuneScape Community Management - Goebies! - @JagexShauny)

Respectfully i am asking for this thread to remain open as it's closest related subject is acquiring experienced players in specific areas of clan administrations and operations, and discussion of my clans staff development and topics related thereof. So this thread is not by itself solely recruitment or discussion rather it is all about the building and development of our clan's staff. For these reasons, it does not duplicate our already existing recruitment thread nor is it intended to take place of it. Also its purpose doesn't fit the criteria for clan central as it's not intended to communicate with outside clans.

RULES

1. All staff members ADMIN+ are required to cap each week.

2. All staff members must have read the Masters Templar T6 thread and come familiar with the clan and its mission.

3. All members of staff must respect all rules of runescape as well as the clan and cause no issues within the clan.

4. All staff members must be on our clan facebook page as well as be in our clans group chat News Chat.

5. No staff member shall challenge their superior staff members when they are giving directives in line with the clans mission.
(If there is a concern and it's felt absolutely necessary, respectfully questioning the superior in a PM is acceptable. However, once the superior has answered the question, this shall be accepted as final and respected.)

STAFF HIERARCHY



The clan staff is broke up into three main focus areas. Operations, Administration, and Logistics. These areas are shared on a multitude of levels by a number of departments. Ultimately these three areas are essential and vital to the achieve the clans strategy and mission in fulfilling its vision.

Mostly the clan uses a pyramid type hierarchy for its structure. Some areas finger off of that structure in the case of some support teams, auxiliary committees, diplomatic staff and future legislative seating. Administratively speaking, these teams and committees are administrative in purpose and isn't necessarily apart of the operational or logistical process of the clan. This thread will be focusing on the core staff currently and any other branching off areas will be developed as needed.

Leadership - (Owner and Deputy Owner - Gold and Silver Key Rank)
Clan Strategy and Mission is developed and channeled down for execution.

Directorship - (Overseer - Bronze Key)
Takes strategies and missions, directs and follows up on progress reporting to leadership.

Management - (Coordinator - Gold Cross)
Carries out and manages all processes concerning the clans strategy and mission by using clan procedures, policies and their staff to get the job done. Reports to the directors.

Supervision - (Organiser - Silver Cross)
Supervises the teams of officers that are actually executing the jobs it takes to accomplish the clans strategy and missions. Reports to the managers.

Staff Officers - (Administrator - Bronze Cross)
Are the worker bees and accomplishes jobs set forth by the manager but reports directly to the supervisor over them.

CLAN STRUCTURE


ADMINISTRATIONS CLAN

The admin clan is the primary Masters Templar clan. This clan will act as the headquartering flag ship for the entire Masters Templar community of clans. From this clan, the subclans will be administrated. The admin clan will house the clan leaders, and directors over the entire community. Even though each subclan will have their own staff, the admin clan will also. Managers, Supervisors and Officers.

In the admin clan, you'll find that a high council, and a court will be developed. The high council will be voted upon by the members of all clans. each clan may nominate a member of their own clan (Not on staff) to represent them and their specific clan on the high council. The high council members will enter the admin clan and will sit their as a member of the admin clan. The councilor may still guest their own clan and are still privy to all benefits and programs that clan offers. Court Justices will be appointed by leadership and agreed upon by the high council.

CLAN STRUCTURE CONT


SUBCLANS


Masters Templar is the the entire wheel of the community. Within the wheel, the hub as described above is the Admin Clan. Branched off that hub like spokes in a wheel are subclans. Although administrated by the Admin Clan, each subclan will have its own subclan leader (silver key) and assistant clan leader (bronze key). No subclan will have an open position for directors as this position is reserved for Admin Use only within the Admin Clan.

Also found in each subclan will be Departments managed by coordinators which are assigned to sections led by overseers in the Admin Clan. For this reason, even though the clan is led by a clan leader and that clan leader is responsible for his staff team, the managers shall report to the section director in the Admin Clan over them. This will result in smooth communication and ensure each department within that section is getting the same message.

Essentially, Jagex has a 500 member limit on the amount of members a single clan can house. However, in our structure, we could generate numerous clans developing them into subclans yet be one single clan community made up of all the same clans but specifically subject related ie; Combating, Skilling, Questing, etc. This allows us to house an unlimited number of members. There are currently 12 different clans in planning stages.

The simple breakdown of staff in a subclan is;

INTERNAL PROMOTIONS


Any existing clan mate can be promoted into the clans staff ranks. They must meet the requirements before entering these ranks. The following are the requirements that are needed for existing members to be promoted into staff ranks.

1. Must be the rank of General before entering staff ranks.

2. Must have a fealty of 3 due to capping in Masters Templar's citadel, not because they brought their fealty from another clan.

3. The staff member must cap and post their cap on our Masters Templar recruitment thread each week.

4. They must have been performing the duties of the position they want to go into for at least one (1) month successfully before being promoted.

5. All staff members shall be a member of the clan's facebook page and be in our clans group chat MT News Chat.
(This facebook does not need to be a personal facebook, can be a facebook made specifically for runescape.)

ENTERING CLAN AS STAFF


Players may come directly into our clan into our staff ranks depending on experience and the result of being interviewed by a member of our existing upper staff. The interviewer is designated by the Clan Leader. They must meet the requirements however before entering these ranks. The following are the requirements that are needed for existing members to be promoted into staff ranks.

1. Players desiring to enter our clan directly on staff must pass an interview.

2. Player must meet the minimum requirement to enter our clan as indicated on our recruitment thread. Click General Clan Information to view these basic requirements.

3. The staff member must cap and post their cap on our Masters Templar recruitment thread each week.

4. All players coming into our clan directly on staff must deliver positive performance within the first 7 days or will be removed from staff and placed among regular clan ranks starting at the bottom.

5. The staff member must be consistent in their duties each week. A drop in duty performance will result in a staff member being removed from staff.

6. All staff members shall be a member of the clan's facebook page and in our FB News Chat.
(This facebook does not need to be a personal facebook, can be a facebook made specifically for runescape.)

RECRUITING OUTSIDE STAFF


CLAN LEADER

The clan leader can recruit from outside the clan to obtain staff where ever needed and in any rank or position. The clan leader will use any in game, social media or outside source to obtain these staff members. The clan leader may also review all staff members brought in by the assistant clan leader, and at his discretion may perform his own interview with these prospective staff members.

ASSISTANT CLAN LEADER

The assistant clan leader can recruit from outside the clan to obtain staff where ever needed, and in any rank or position up to manager (coordinator rank). The assistant clan leader may use any in game, social media or outside source to obtain these staff members. The assistant clan leader will review all staff members brought in by the section directors, and perform their own interview with these prospective staff members.

SECTION DIRECTORS

The section director can recruit from outside the clan to obtain staff where ever needed to fill any officer (administrator rank) position within their own section. The section director may use any in game, social media or outside source to obtain these staff members.

WHO CANNOT RECRUIT STAFF FROM OUTSIDE

Anyone ranked manager (coordinator rank) and below cannot bring players into our clan directly onto staff. This includes our recruiting staff, as this team is used solely in obtaining regular members to our clan at entry levels.

HOW CAN I HELP TO BRING IN STAFF

1. Bring it to the attention of the clan leader if you know someone interested or direct them to this thread.

2. Monitor this thread and make it known immediately if there is an application that's not responded to.

STAFF FOR SUBCLANS


As our clan is structured to be accommodating regardless the size of our clan. This is also true for subclanning our clan into a community. The template is there, all is needed is to fill in the blanks. The same applies as above for Recruiting Outside Staff, except to place a staff member in the staff ranks in a subclan, the subclan leader will also review the candidate. This is to ensure the candidate is not only in line with the mission scopes of that clan, but also meets the subject matter in which the clan is based. This is for all levels of staff within the subclan.

Any existing member may be promoted into staff within any subclan within the Masters Templar subclan community. The member is still subject to the requirements as stated above in Internal Promotions as well as being subject to review by the subclan leader.

The placement training for existing members regardless of subclan entering into will take place in the Admin Clan before moving on to the subclan. For players coming in directly into staff will also enter the Admin clan. Once training is complete and the determination is made that they are ready, they will then be reviewed by the subclan leader for proper fit. Once they pass the review with the subclan leader, they will advance to the subclan.

If a member is demoted within a subclan, that member may continue with that clan as a regular member ranked appropriate as determined by the subclan leader up to General. If the member wishes to transfer to a different subclan, the may do so but will enter that clan at entry level.

DEVELOPMENT OF STAFF


The fact is, as a member of staff Admin+, others will look at you as a member of clan leadership. This is as true for those from outside the clan as it is inside the clan. As an Admin+, you represent the clan, its staff, its leaders as well as its members. For this reason, we are looking for those players that stand out in the aspect of being a leader. Don't mistake me when i use the term leader. Leader is used meaning to take the lead. This could be taking the lead in what task you've been given from being a recruiter all the way up to being a clan leader.

If you are the type that will focus more effort in developing excuses for not completing tasks or meeting deadlines, then stop reading now, you will not make it on our staff.

BECOMING AN OFFICER

BRONZE CROSS (ADMINISTRATOR)


To become a staff officer, there are some things that we will be looking for from you.

1. Initiative
2. Consistency
3. Professionalism
4. Integrity
5. Timeliness
6. Attentiveness
7. Activeness
8. Ability to be a positive example for others are the attributes we are watching for.

You'll need to show positive performance in the area in which you are interested in entering into on staff. We will not place you in hopes you'll work out. You'll need to prove yourself before being given the opportunity to come on board with our staff team.
For example, if you want to become an events officer, you'll need to hold events over a period of time (usually a month) consistently and successfully according to the clans event policies. Imagine how it would look, not only on the part of the staff member that promoted you, but yourself if we promoted you in hopes the job will be done but isn't. This wouldn't be good for anyone. The attributes mentioned above will be observed during this time period. The supervisor must be a mentor and leader to the staff officers below them. To become a supervisor, a staff officer must show going above the normal and being a leader among their peers. They must also show they can lead with effectiveness and maintain positive motivation within their team. Again this must be displayed over a period of time to show consistency (usually about a month). As with becoming a staff officer, the show of performing the duties of a supervisor must be demonstrated before the officer is promoted to supervisor. A manager on our staff is responsible for a team of supervisors. They must go above the normal in all attributes as mentioned in becoming a supervisor. Also, the supervisor must show the initiative to build upon the team by recruiting members of the clan onto staff (subject to review by leadership). BECOMING A DIRECTOR

Becoming a director is the second most hardest rank to achieve in our clan. To become a director, A manager must have knowledge of and had worked in all departments within the section he/she desires to direct. This individual is strong in planning, assessing and developing the departments within their section. Building and management of the departments within their section is essential and should be shown as a positive trait from the candidate. Communication skills and development of relations within the department across subclans are also essential and must be demonstrated as the clan moves forward in its acquisition of other clans in the community.

Decision making skills to achieve positive goals is what we are looking for here. This member needs no supervision and can independently build, develop, direct, manage, supervise, and perform the duties within all departments within the section they are a director of.

From a managers standpoint, the manager has a lot of work to do to be ready for this position. However needing to be proficient in performing the duties of all departments within the section, the manager does not need to start over as an officer in each department De-ranking them. The manager can perform the duties of a different department while still maintaining their responsibilities and placement as manager over their original managing department.

Once the manager is comfortable that they are proficient in all departments within a section, and they feel they have developed enough to be a director, they may apply for this position on this thread for review.

BECOMING ASSISTANT CLAN LEADER

In every meaning of the words, assistant clan leader, it is exactly as its stated. The assistant clan leader assists the clan leader in day to day operations, administrations, logistics, diplomacy and development to ensure the prosperity of the clan.

The assistant clan leader is the the hardest most involved and demanding position in the clan. As the assistant clan leader, a player must be proficient in all departments within all the sections in the clan. They must be in tune with the clan vision, mission, and scope and very efficient in planning according to them. The assistant clan leader must know all engagements of clan diplomacy with outside clans as well as being able to deter and defuse any negative publicity brought upon the clan.

A director looking to be the assistant clan leader must be the top performer in the clan. Knowing everything about the clan, its policies, procedures, and customs along with knowing the function of every single job in the clan is required of the assistant clan leader. It will be common of the assistant clan leader to drop what they are currently doing to assist other members or fill in to help lower performing departments. They will on their own make a quick assessment and make adjustments of their agenda day to day based on the needs of the clan.

The clan leader will mentor any director that shows the initiative in becoming the assistant clan leader. When a director feels comfortable in becoming the assistant clan leader, they may post an application on this thread for that position. It will be reviewed only by the clan leader.

The Deputy Director is in charge of planning. The Deputy Director sets goals for the clan in Growth, Prosperity, Success and Finances. The Deputy Director will ensure the founding fathers ethics are not compromised and is maintained in all plans. The Deputy Director is in charge of the clans acquisition team that travels to start new sub-clans for Masters Templar.

The Operations Director is responsible for the clans citadels. This includes and staff members within any of the citadels within any of our clans. Also within operations is security and enforcement. The Operations Director should be well rehearsed and knowledgeable in all clan rules and policies across all of our sites including in game. The Operations Director is also in charge of the clans logistical departments. They include Production, Supply, Technical Support and Events.

ADMINISTRATIONS DIRECTOR

The Administrations Director is responsible for the clans members. They manage and maintain the member data records for the clan. The Admin Director also review new member applications of new members and training of all members for staff positions manager and below. The Admin Director is also responsible for alliance relations with other clans. He/she shall develop alliance ambassadors and ministers. They are directly in charge of developing, maintaining and exercising good relations with outside clans. Is also responsible for all the clans public relations. The clan secretary records all meeting minutes for upper and lower leadership meetings as well as council and court meetings. It's also the responsibility of the clan secretary to ensure all clan data sheets are current, correct and maintained properly. Also the clan secretary assists the clan leader in any administrative responsibilities as requested by the clan leader.

The clan treasurer is responsible for auditing clan financial records and ensures to develop and maintain a reasonable budgeting plan for the clan. The clan treasurer keeps balance of the records and can request to see that the clan bank has what it says it does.

CHIEF COUNCILOR

The Chief Councilor is the head seat councilor on the clan council. Their key role is to ensure that the meeting format is followed and that all meeting policy is adhered to. The Chief Councilor is also responsible for scheduling a council meeting each month and giving notice to the other councilors with at least 2 weeks notice and gives reminders when within a week away from every meeting.

AMBASSADOR

The Ambassador oversees 5 ministers each of which is in charge of allied relations of an allied clan. There shall be one ambassador until five allied clans are developed then there shall be a minister assigned to each allied clan. That ambassador shall then manage the ministers.

PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

The Public Relations Manager is in charge of all public relations outside the clan that are not matters of alliances with other clans. This includes communicating to the public through advertisements or other forms of communications.

MEDIA MANAGER

The Media Manager is in charge of delivering the news to the clan by managing a team of media officers. The Media Manager is responsible for building and developing the news teams.

ECONOMIC MANAGER

The Economic Manager is in charge of studying game economics to develop more efficient and profitable methods that the clan can profit from. These methods must be legal, and no risks involved including Gambling, Merchanting, or Chance Taking.

CLAN MANAGER

The Clan Manager is in charge of studying methods of other successful clans and develop proposed ideas to enhance the clans success and prosperity.

The Secretary for this team is in charge of managing its own records which is separate of that of the rest of the clan. The Secretary also acts as the assistant to the Acquisition Director.

ACQUISITION RECRUITING MANAGER

The Recruiting Manager for this team is in charge of aggressively recruiting new member into the Sub-Clan and developing the recruitment team by training hiring and placing a Recruitment Manager and team of recruiting officers.

ACQUISITION TRAINING MANAGER

The Training Manager for this team is in charge of training and developing members of the Sub-Clan including orientating new members brought in. The Training Manager also develops the training team for this clan ensuring there is a Training Manager and Training staff.

The Citadel Manager is in charge of managing the clans citadel. They manage the plots for upkeep and upgrade requirements. They also manage a team of citadel capping officers and citadel avatar officers. The Citadel Manager must set the plots each week at the clans Tick Time. The Citadel Manager is responsible for building and developing the citadel team.

SAFETY MANAGER

The Safety Manager is in charge of the clans safety including moderating in game systems like clan chat, runescape clan forums etc as well as offsite programs like raidcall and facebook. SUPERVISION POSITIONS


GENERAL

Supervision positions are at the discretion of the manager to place. If a manager is capable and wishes to manage the teams in their department they may do so without a supervisors over the teams. However, if a manager wishes to place team supervisors within their departments, this post is a description of what their responsibilities would be. With the exception of each manager specifically allocating duties to their supervisors to carry out, all supervisors descriptions are the same with respect to their own departments.

ADVANCEMENT

Where an Administrator ranked officer wishes to advance up through the ranks, the Manager of the department should utilize the Supervisor rank of Organiser to advance the Admin Officer. The Supervisor can be utilized as such over a team, or as a Department Assistant to the Manager. Again, how the Supervisor is utilized is at the discretion of the Manager.

DESCRIPTION

Each supervisor is the team leader over a team of officers. They supervise this team of officers to ensure they are performing their duties according to the managers delegated directives. In addition, the manager may use the supervisor as a department assistant. This person has shown to be a leader among his peers as an officer and is developed by the manager.

The Records Clerk Officer is responsible for maintaining data on our records sheets. The sheets which they are responsible for is designated by the Records Manager but supervised for completion and accuracy by a Records Supervisor if the manager so wishes to place a supervisor.

ADVERTISEMENT OFFICER

The Advertisement Officer is responsible for advertising for the clan in locations and format set forth by the Advertisement Manager. This may include on sites outside the realm of the game.

MEDIA OFFICER

The media officer is responsible in developing and delivering news to the clan using the clans Runescape Forum, Clan Page Forum, Facebook MT NEWS CHAT, or any other offsite program owned by Masters Templar. This news must pertain directly to the clan news on happenings and up coming occasions as well as in game content.

MODERATION OFFICER

The Moderators are responsible for monitoring all sites, forums and chat channels outside of the clan systems. Another words, any non live communication should be monitored by moderators.

The Training Officer is responsible for training clan members in specific areas that they need knowledge in concerning the clan. This could range from orientating new members to training existing members in specific jobs they may be interested in perusing.

TECHNICAL OFFICER

The Technical Officer is responsible for rendering technical assistance to our clan and its members. They should be knowledgeable in the basics in computer operation and have some basic knowledge on programs and software.

The Production Officer takes materials and produces them into a finished product. All materials will be given by the clan at no cost to the production officer. The items needed to be produced will be delegated weekly to individual officers based on skill levels.

SUPPLY OFFICER

It is the responsibility of the supply officer to collect or make supplies needed to build the clans raw material supply used for production. The items needed to be collected will be delegated weekly to individual officers based on skill levels.

SUB-CLAN MANAGER and SUPERVISORY STAFF


GENERAL

The management staff within a Sub-Clan is slightly more unique in comparison to the management staff within the Admin clan. Where as the Manager in the Admin clan reports solely to respected director over their section, the manager in the Sub-Clan is directly subordinate to the Sub-Clan Leader and under the direction of the Director over the section the Manager is under.

PERFORMANCES

The manager in a Sub-Clan must perform satisfactory according to expectations. When in the case the manager is not performing to expectations, The Sub-Clan Leader may remove the manager from staff and place them within the ranks of his/her clan where ever and at what ever rank the Sub-Clan leader determines is appropriate. The Director over the section the manager is working under may make recommendations on the managers removal to the Sub-Clan leader in the case of performance failure. The Director may petition to Masters Templar Asst Clan Leader or Clan Leader for action to be taken if action is ignored at Sub-Clan level.

SUB-CLAN MANAGEMENT DESCRIPTIONS


RECORDS MANAGER

The Records Manager keeps the member data records current for their clan. The Records Manager must also manage any additional records deemed necessary by the Clan Secretary.

CITADEL MANAGER

The Citadel Manager is in charge of managing the clans citadel. They manage the plots for upkeep and upgrade requirements. The Citadel Manager must set the plots each week at the clans Tick Time. The Citadel Manager is responsible for building and developing the citadel and may propose and develop a team to assist them.

SAFETY MANAGER

The Safety Manager is in charge of the clans safety including moderating in game systems like clan chat, runescape clan forums etc as well as offsite programs like raidcall and facebook. They manage a team of security and moderation officers. The Safety Manager is responsible for building and developing the safety teams.

RECRUITING MANAGER

The Recruiting Manager is responsible for recruiting new members into the clan. They must monitor the clans runescape forum recruitment thread for applications as well as recruit from within the game. They must develop, build and manage the recruitment team.

TRAINING MANAGER

The Training Manager is responsible for training all members within the clan. They must release new information when new content is released as well as orientates new members to the clan. They must develop, build and manage a team of training officers.

PRODUCTION MANAGER

The Production Manager is responsible for dispersing materials to the members of the production team and members of the clan that wishes to assist the efforts of production. They must document accurately on data records what they distribute to who, how much and when. They must also develop, build and manage a team of production officers.

SUPPLY MANAGER

The Supply Manager is responsible for collecting supplies for the clan that can be used in production. They must collect what is designated by the Logistics Director. They must develop, build and manage a team of supply officers.

TECHNICAL MANAGER

The Technical Manager is responsible for staying up to date and current on basic computer and program applications so they can render assistance to the clan when needed. They must also develop, build and manage a team of technical officers.

EVENTS MANAGER

The Events Manager ensures they are holding events in the clan regularly. They also develop, build and manage a team of event officers and ensures that each event area has coverage.

SUPERVISOR

A Supervisor in a Sub-Clan has the same criteria of a Supervisor in the Admin Clan. To see the criteria for a Supervisor, click HERE. As such, the performance of the Supervisor is the responsibility of the Manager over them. The Manager must ensure performance of the supervisor is satisfactory in meeting expectations.

SUB-CLAN OFFICER STAFF


GENERAL

The Officer Staff within our Sub-Clans are exactly what they are in our Admin Clan. They are the worker bees on staff and is subordinate to the department manager and or supervisors over them. They carry out the work directives week by week handed them by the manager or supervisor.

PERFORMANCES

In any case where as the performance of an officer does not meet expectations, the manager may remove them from their position. The rank within the clan shall be determined by the Sub-Clan Leader or assistant Sub-Clan Leader.

AVATAR OFFICER

The Avatar Officer is to ensure the Avatar's cap is completed each week according to upkeep requirements.

CAPPING OFFICER

The Capping Officer is responsible for capping each citadel tick fully 100%. These officers also monitor the rest of staff to ensure they've capped and report back to the Citadel Manager in any case found not to have capped.

MODERATION OFFICER

The Moderators are responsible for monitoring all sites, forums and chat channels outside of the clan systems. Another words, any non live communication should be monitored by moderators.

SECURITY OFFICER

The Security Officers primary function is to maintain order withing clan chat as well as voice chat programs away from the game. Another words any live communication shall be monitored by security.

RECRUITING OFFICER

The Recruiting Officer is responsible for recruiting new members to the clan by the following means;

1. Clan Forum
2. Clan Recruitment Thread.
3. Through in game recruiting.

The Recruiting Officer will properly assess potential prospect members for compatibility and make sound judgement for recruiting new members.
