World 70 is supposed to be the group smithing world for artisan's workshop, there is even a new achievement for this.... but there are so many drakes in there for NO REASON that it is hard to get anything to work...

Please make this a no familiar zone!

Never said my device couldn't handle it. It does just fine, but there is NO REASON to have it out in the workshop, and if Jagex wants it to be a COMMUNITY EVENT then they need to address this problem before they lose the community they are trying to create.

You're right - there's no reason they should have their drakes out in the workshop.

However we've had this situation going on for a long time at this point, and Jagex have never shown any signs of doing anything about it.

Previously it was Portables world 84 Combat Academy which was where you'd find all the drakes. The problem there was that portable forges weren't fixed features and were placed by the community: if you weren't prepared to buy your own forges, your only alternative to using that world was to hop around to different worlds until you found another forge, and then hope the forge is maintained for more than a couple of minutes.

In other words it was very difficult to avoid having to use W84 without spending money on our own forges, so you had the major W84 community while most other worlds were mostly dead or focussed around other portables.

At least with the workshop the majority of portable forge benefits are built-in, fixed spots which exist on every world. Because of this, while W70 might be the main world, you will find decent communities there on every world; so if people start pulling their drakes out, are being toxic in some other way, just hop to *any* other world and you can carry on uninterrupted.

People on W70 who are annoyed by the drakes will eventually migrate elsewhere, because there's no reason why they shouldn't. Once the people with drakes are mostly the only players in W70, and there's nobody there to annoy any more (which is why they do it), they'll get bored and give up - since it would be literally impossible for them to locate a second main world where the majority of players gather, since there is no such world and all the players would be scattered over many worlds.

I don't use W70 - I have no reason to - and have yet to see a single drake yet. This is a significant improvement over the portable forge days.

We have so many other familiar overrides now. There's no excuse for something that flappy and annoying.

While I haven't had the lag issue as of late I just dislike them on principle of being too darn big.

Jagex won't do anything about the pets already in the game; people have paid for those, so Jagex might be afraid that making big changes to the drakes that people have bought could result in fewer people buying pets and cosmetics on the store.

That said, now we have the benefit of hindsight and know how those kind of pets are misused, it would probably be better that Jagex focus solely on making pets that are interesting and desirable in their own right, rather than things which are likely to be bought on-mass purely because of their potential to cause annoyance to others.
