@Uncle Pob, have you considered the possibility that if there are people who are using drakes or other similar things to troll other people, that the other people getting annoyed about that is actually a means rather than an end that the trolls want?

Because once upon a time, on the Shantay Pass portable brazier world, there was a persistent troll there who kept spamming a certain flashy emote to people's faces there. People who didn't know much about the troll thought that its goal was to annoy the players who were training firemaking there, when in reality what the troll was really after was change; it wanted to feel recognized for Jagex changing the emote to avoid that trolling, because the troll knew that upsetting people would encourage Jagex to change the emote, and if they did change it, the troll knew it was because of its trolling.

Being able to influence Jagex to change the game, and being recognized as the player that influenced that change, isn't easy as a regular player, so trolling is an option some might try, because if Jagex doesn't react, some of its customers will probably be upset, and if Jagex does react, the troll won because it got what it wanted.

That's why, unless truly necessary, it's better to just ignore the trolls, than to punish the legitimate players (e.g. by changing the drake). It's very easy to avoid drakes, and even if you are in their presence, they don't really prevent you from doing anything, since you can click through them.

Their is no reason to have any pets or familiars out at AW since they aren't going to help you boost your smithing xp/hr compared to pre-update. And telling everyone to hop doesn't really help. Some people, myself included, wish to benefit from the luminite injectors for that extra little bit of experience and progress when smithing...

If cosmetic pets had to have a beneficial reason like that to be out, then they'd never be out, yet they exist, so they have a reason, even if you don't personally care about the reason. To some people, pets are a part of their personality; take that away and you discriminate people based on what they want to wear and show. Further, we could extend your logic and say that cosmetic overrides should be disabled on those areas too, because "they aren't going to help you boost your smithing xp/hr", even though people wear cosmetics to show their personality. Or that other people would be completely hidden, with their pets included, when you enter those areas, because again, "they aren't going to help you boost your smithing xp/hr".

Look - it's understandable that you can get annoyed about someone else doing something that you don't like, it's not to be expected of you to like everyone and everything, but when it's only about cosmetic display, learning some tolerance goes a long way, both in preventing the actual trolls from getting what they want, and preventing emotional changes to the game that do more harm than good long term. If Jagex starts to do changes like that, based on intolerance of others, people aren't going to bother learning tolerance to begin with, resulting in more and more requests of changes based on intolerance of others.

To save space, you were asking what the trolls are trying to achieve? Well, the answer is what you're doing right now: asking for a change to the game that the trolls would be recognized for influencing. Be the better person and move on.
