Iíve had a thought about how Completionism rewards could be reworked to maintain their rarity whilst allowing all players flexibility to work towards them using their own play style, whilst making it clearer which new content would be included as the game is updated and also making the Completionist Cape simpler to maintain. I wanted to put it out there so it could be considered by others.

Rather than having two separate lists, I suggested that instead we are given one ultimate list of all possible achievements required to truly complete all the major content. Whether this reward was the trimmed completionist cape or something new, it would still give players wanting to experience all content in full their reward for doing so.

To earn the completionist cape, youíd then only need to have completed a percentage of the long list of tasks. As the system already tracks progress made on each achievement separately, it shouldnít be too difficult to assign a percentage completion score to all players. This would allow players to choose which content they wanted to focus on to achieve their completionist cape. There would just be a shorter list of necessary achievements that have to be included to unlock any of the rewards, like max level in all skills and the other big ones.

The advantages are that players will need far less deviation from their preferred play style to obtain the benefits theyíre looking for from the completionist cape. It would also mean capes are easier to maintain, as you could choose to complete additional tasks on the list to ensure youíre percentage always stays above the threshold even on the release of new content.

It also makes it clear that all new content with measurable progress should be added to the list of necessary achievements to achieve full completion.

As an example, a player who only plays the game solo could choose not to complete the group only bosses without missing out on their completionist cape.

Thoughts?

This isn't completing the game. This is I want a reward for completing the aspect of the game I want to play and I want to ignore the rest.
The Completionist cape is in the name. It's a reward for completing the game, not completing a subset of the game.

Iím not for one minute saying that shouldnít be true, but unless Iíve misunderstood the Dev diary about the completionist rework it seems the majority of the player base donít view the completionist cape as anything other than a necessary end game reward for improving their game experience, whilst equally having little to no interest in many aspects of the current completionist content. Having said that, the completionist cape doesnít include a huge variety of game content that a true completionist would have taken part in so the comp cape isnít exactly what it says on the tin anyway. Itís just an arbitrary subset of requirements of the trimmed completionist cape.

My suggestion was to address the four problems spoken about in the Dev diary. Iím in full support of calling this something completely different if the name on the tin doesnít sound quite right any more, but if there are going to be changes itís useful for us players to express our ideas and suggestions.

I mean - I like more and more the modular approach mod jack is suggesting (i.e. you can learn certain cape effects passively instead of having to rely on the comp cape to have it available at all times - or having to wear some crappy cape no one would actually wear).

If - just if - the comp cape really was just a cosmetic, we won't lose any functionality we have compared to now, content will be more relevant since you can gain ever more passive effects making you more versatile over time - and you wouldn't lose all of it, just because some solak-esque stuff is released.

I have never had comp cape and I don't see why it's essential for me to have. What about raids gear requiring multiple kills to get all 3 full achto sets which have more advantages over comp cape? There are many players without comp that have warden title. One time I saw a level 122 with warden title in game.

Are you suggesting a runescore requirement for comp comp? No support if so, there are so many pointless achievements that are there for the sake of being achievements.
The brightest ideas are the most undervalued.
