Sorry to have to break this to you, but your solution won't be happening. Jagex isn't holding dxp weekends randomly/out of generosity, but rather as a strategic move: the whole point of dxp weekends is to artificially inflate the player count during the weekend. Even if you normally wouldn't want to play during the weekend, or excessively so, dxp weekends encourage you to make time for playing the game specifically during that 72-hour period, and to play as much as possible during that time period.

If this was changed, and Jagex allowed people to choose their time when the dxp begins, a lot less people would play during the weekend that Jagex wants the players to play excessively on, because like yourself, some would choose another time to start the dxp instead, making the point of having a dxp weekend from Jagex's perspective null and void.

Now, the above is all from Jagex's perspective, but from the perspective of game integrity, dxp weekends or "tokens" shouldn't be a thing at all: they accelerate the rate at which players reach the endgame or other level achievements, which in turn further devalues them than would normally occur. Additionally, since dxp halves the amount of resources needed for buyable skills, the prices of resources suffer long term, which is also a bad thing for the longevity of the game.

All in all, no support. Just get rid of dxp weekends completely; that way, people like you don't have to feel bad about missing out on the bonuses, and the game's integrity is preserved from being damaged further.

I understand that DXP is all about inflating the player count. I feel that a token will still do this.

Of course, but not enough; if you prolong the event, you also spread out the players across the event, resulting in smaller peaks than with a shorter event.

For the average player, nothing changes since they'd likely use it day one. This just makes it so that you don't need to be an average player to benefit.

Actually, even the average player might be more inclined to delay their dxp usage. Remember that during a normal dxp weekend, resource prices get much more expensive prior to the weekend, and crash drastically after. An average player might thus want to log in during the dxp event and acquire the token, wait until the early birds have used their tokens and buy leftover resources from them for a cheaper price, and then use their own token next weekend (since your solution allows the player to wait up to 7 days before using the token).

They'd obviously have to be patient, but if they aren't made of money, it'd be worth it for them to be patient, which would then lead to further smaller player counts across the event compared to traditional dxp weekends.

As for game integrity, I can't argue against that. However DXP is here, and likely here to stay, so I feel there is more integrity in making the system fair for all.

Even with your suggestion, some would still be unable to use their dxp boost, whether due to work, school, mandatory military service or whatever else. There are people who can't make it to the dxp weekends, there always have been, and there always will be, which is why if you truly want to be fair, and if you care about game integrity, you don't accept them being a thing in any form. Even if it seems unlikely to change, dxp weekends aren't guaranteed.

The issue with this argument is that the serious DXPer is already stocking up now. Not the weekend of.

Idk what you mean by a "serious DXPer", but regarding stocking up well in advance of the weekend, a couple of things:

1. Yes, some people are stocking up well in advance, because currently, "dxp tokens" don't exist. If they did exist, people would likely develop other plans and strategies on stocking up, such as what I described earlier.

2. Stocking up well in advance affects your cash flow quite a bit; even if you can get them cheaper whilst a dxp weekend is still far off in the future, buying them so much in advance ties a lot of your cash to those resources, which could be used to make more money with (e.g. flipping) or be spent on something else (e.g. better gear). If you're an active player, you might not want to do that, since it's much more likely that you'd make a lot more money with that cash you spent on the resources, than what you saved by buying them so early.

In comparison, with your solution, buying leftover resources cheaper allows you to use them immediately.
