Hi Master,

sounds like you have a screen with a high pixel density, a 1440p/4k monitor or the like.

Jagex would need to add support for high pixel density screens into the game to make this problem go away entirely, which I do believe is in the pipeline alongside the mobile engine because Mobiles have this exact same issue to worry about, heck, arguably they're far worse.

Until the game adds high DPI support though, messing with the scaling factor in the Windows settings, or changing the resolution entirely in Windows to be smaller is the best way of working around this. I can appreciate that these solutions aren't ideal however, but they do plague a lot of programs because high DPI screens are still quite new technology and haven't been amazingly optimised for outside of mobile devices yet.

I do believe you were able to experimentally enable high DPI support for RuneScape on Windows, but I can't find any instructions exactly on how to at this point.

Hey
Master Dud20
,

It may be possible to tweak the game's settings manually to increase the interface scale.
To do this, you will need to download and install a program called SQLite Browser to edit the file.
With this installed, you should be able to browse to
C:\users\[computer user]\appdata\local\Jagex\RuneScape
(
%localappdata%\Jagex\RuneScape
), and open the
Settings.jcache
file.

Click Browse Data then locate InterfaceScale. Double-click this, change the value from 100 to 133, then click OK. Head to File in the top-left and select Write Changes, and close the program.

Relaunch the game and hopefully things should scale to around the 1080p level.

Hey,

I believe I have correctly downloaded the SqLite software however I am unable to successfully navigate to where you are describing. Would it be possibly for you to guide me through the process via discord?

Thank you

Sadly this fix did not work as intended. If anyone else has any solutions please drop them.

Thanks again to @whos-dr for attempting to help

Hey
Master Dud20
,

So there are two things you can try and do to help solve this issue, the first is actually to get the shortcut of RuneScape that allows you to change the compatibility settings.

To do this navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Jagex\RuneScape Launcher

Grab the RuneScape Application file and copy + paste it onto your desktop.

Now when you right click the icon and go into "properties" you will be able to see a tab called "Compatability" which will let you tweak the DPI settings.

Then you can hit the change "high DPI settings" and see if that helps.

If for some reason that doesn't work properly there is also a related article about high DPI scaling in Windows 10 which you can find here.

Hope this extra information is of help to you :).
