((Finished ^_^))

Heroĺs bio

Name: Cade Norwood
Age(16+): 27

Gender: Male

Appearance: Cade stands at an average height of about 6 ft, and has quite a thin build. He has light skin and short, light brown hair which he has spiked up. As a result of not shaving often enough, he has some facial hair which looks a bit like a sad attempt at a beard. His eyes are a warm blue colour.

Typically he'll wear jeans and a grey hoodie, but then he'll have some horrendously colorful shirt or a pair of trainers so bright they're practically blinding. In Albion he'll have plain leather boots, a blue and green tunic, light tan coloured trousers and a belt to go around the waist as well as one over the shoulder so he can carry his weapon on his back.

Personality: Cade is generally very open and friendly to most people, although he often tries to make too much of a show of things. Thisůcould potentially get him in trouble, especially in genuinely dangerous situations. Also, he tends to let his mind wander a bit, especially when he should really be listening to what people are telling him.

Class: Blade Bard

Abilities: Cadeĺs class allows him to use a variety of skills. Blade bards have special instruments which are constructed so that they can also be used as weapons. This allows them to switch between a more mage-like style, and a melee style. Cade is able to use his instrument to cast spells through music. He can cast some basic wind and sound spells, such as blades of air or soundwaves which cause distraction or damage, however his main magical ability is more of a support role, allowing him to buff up and restore his alliesĺ strength, magic and endurance, or weaken enemies in a similar way.

He cannot heal physical wounds with his music, but can amplify anotherĺs healing spell. With his new magical abilities, he can learn new instruments very quickly, allowing him to get a proper understanding of basic playing within a few hours. Mastering an instrument takes a lot longer, however the more masterful the music, the more powerful the spells.

Equipment: None besides his weapon.

Weapon(s): Cadeĺs weapon is a finely crafted lute. It appears to be made of a light coloured spruce and rosewood. The sound hole is an intricate diagram of a stylized compass complete with an obscene over-use of Celtic knotwork and spirally winds. It has 15 strings, and a generally slender shape. Its main body is not as deep as most others, and it feels heavier. This is actually because the inside is reinforced with a steel frame because of its purpose besides being a musical instrument. Any onlooker can clearly notice that the soundboard seems to have blades running along the edge. There are two of these, one spanning each side, and while they only stick out by about 3 inches, they are rather sharp. The instrument is made more sturdy than most so that it can be used as a melee weapon on the side. Itĺs a rather odd use, but it works surprisingly well because of the strength it gets from the steel reinforcements. It can be used as a slashing weapon, or the main body can be used as a blunt weapon. The blades have spirals and swirls etched into them.

Other: Cade is a talented musician andůdecent enough at singing, although his main musical strength comes from his quick mind, being able to come up with melodies and lyrics even on the fly.

Cade ambled along the street, quietly humming to himself. It was nice to get a little extra time to relax, he thought.

He had just finished work early, a pleasant surprise which came around every once in a while. As he strolled along the pavement, he turned left into a small park. it was nice weather, too. The evening was coming on soon, bringing a cool wash over the afternoon, and bathing the greenery in a soft, subtly warm light. It was awfully quiet as well, most people having gone home already, so the park was pretty much empty.

He actually got so zoned out that he didn't see the pond in front of him.

Doing a complete ninety degrees forward over the fulcrum that was the side of the pond, he fell into the water feature head-on.

At least, he would have, if there hadn't been a sudden disturbance above the surface of the water. he vanished into the portal, leaving no sound behind.

He was jolted awake by the mishap, and was especially confused to see what appeared to be a wall of leaves heading rapidly towards him. his first thought was that he had banged his head rather badly, but then there was a tangling of branches and he found himself slowing down. nevertheless, he hit what was apparently the ground.

When he came to, he found himself with an unpleasant headache. As he regained his vision, he took stock of his surroundings. At first he guessed he was still in the park, what with all the trees, but he soon realized that he was dry and this was clearly a different place.

Standing up shakily, he saw that this forest seemed to go on for quite some distance. How he'd ended up here he had no idea, but he couldn't help but notice the chest on the ground next to him.

Looking around cautiously, he opened the chest. Inside it he found some clothes, which he thought looked rather nice, despite the fact that they seemed like they must have been dragged out of some LARP. He also found a lute, a rather peculiar one at that.

He couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship, even though ti had blades on the side. He thought this stuff might belong to someone so he put it back in the chest, picked it up and, lugging the heavy box around with him, tried to make his way through the forest to see if he could find anyone.

He did. In fact, they were currently being bombarded by a horde of what appeared to be small green creatures. He instinctively jumped behind a bush. The strangers looked like they were handling the situation pretty well, but he decided to try and help. he saw that they were wearing old fashioned clothes so he hurriedly changed into the ones he'd found in the chest, before grabbing the lute, charging out of the bushes, and swinging it in a wild horizontal arc.

He sliced through one of the goblins, before immediately pulling back as he saw even more approaching.

It was difficult to hear the conversation going on with all the noises of battle, but Cade still managed to listen to some of what the others were saying. first of all, he was surprised to find that they weren't talking like they were from medieval times. Then again this whole thing was seeming like some kind of weird dream, so that didn't surprise him so much. He did hear something about running away.

He was about to shout his approval of the suggestion, when suddenly the chief goblin was struck down. At this point some of the goblins left and some remained.

It didn't look like the others were going to run, so he breathed heavily once or twice then charged at the nearest goblins.

He smashed one of them on the head with the lute, slashing the one next to it with the blades on the side. He did the same to the first, then got ready to try and fight more of them off.

It was at this point that one of them, which he hadn't seen, hit him rather painfully on the knee with its club. He yelped, grabbing his knee and hopping around rather comically, before bringing his foot down on the goblin's head, hard. This was followed by another slash.

"Ow."

"
Sorry to interrupt,
" Cade interrupted, "
But I seem to be a bit lost. See, I just woke up in the middle of this forest, and found these strange clothes and, well, this.
" He held out the lute.

He then realized it had blood on it, so he started wiping it furiously on the grass, trying to get the stains off, since it seemingly belonged to someone.

Once he'd gotten the blood off, he redirected his attention to the strangers.

"
I don't suppose any of you know...where...we...are...?
"

((Thought it would be helpful if my char's dialogue was a different colour as well.))

Cade sort of locked up. Everyone else here was in the exact situation. None of them knew what was going on either.

Great, he thought to himself. Just then, what looked like a small human-like creature seemed to come out of nowhere and greeted them. He wouldn't have been too surprised if this really was a dream, since this guy was basically saying they were in Albion.

"
Albion? Isn't that what the British Isles were called before the Romans invaded? Wait, are you saying this is supposed to be Celtic times? Because it seems more medieval to me. if this is some kind of time travel themed prank, whoever put it together needs to do some research.
"

This situation was confusing to say the least, but two things Cade definitely understood. One was that staying out here any longer was a bad idea. the second was that there was someone who would quite happily take them to their house and, while it wasn't someone he knew, there were a bunch of other people who didn't know him. That, at least, made him feel safer.

At this point it seemed that introduction were being made. Well, might as well be memorable.

"
My name is Cade Norwood,
" he said, trying as much (albeit pathetic) bravado as he could, complete with a small bow which was cut halfway through when he realized how stupid he looked.

"
erm...nice to meet you all.
" he said, carefully.

Cade followed a couple of metres behind the group, watching the forest suspiciously.

Well, he hoped he looked suspicious, because in actuality he was simply rather nervous about what other creatures might come out of nowhere to attack them.

When they reached the tree that was apparently the home of the gnome calling himself Towa, he leaned over to get a better look. A basket didn't seem like it would support their weight very well, but needless to say he was still impressed.

All he could really think to say was "
That. Is so cool.

Cade watched one of the others get into the basket, before being pulled up out of sight. When it came back down it was empty, and he heard the same person's voice coming from inside the tree. Seemed safe enough.

Clambering into the basket, he pulled the lever. It was surprising how strong it was, being able to hold the weight of several grown people in succession.

When he got to the top his jaw dropped at how such a large house could be fit inside a tree.

((I don't really have anything else to write, so it might seem a bit padded out.))

Cade had never seen a dragon before, so he was completely baffled when one appeared right in front of the house.

As he saw the Towa get fired straight through the wall, he dropped the mysterious instrument he'd picked up earlier and ran over to the basket elevator. Grabbing the cable, he slid all the way down and ran over to the other side of the house, just underneath the huge hole that had been brunt in the side.

"
Towa! Are you there? Are you alright?
" he shouted, looking for the gnome.

As Cade looked round he could see the dragon on the other side of the house. Again, the enormous creature began inhaling, and He ducked down behind one of the treeĺs massive roots as a surge of hot air rushed past.

Looking up, he saw one of the other strangers hanging off the edge of the hole that had been burnt in the side of the house. Suddenly he remembered that heĺd left the only weapon or tool he had back in the house. After hitting his head on the gnarled bark of the root several times while cursing under his breath, he ran out to try and help, only to find someone already preparing to lift him back in.

Hoping the dragon was still occupied, he ran back over to the elevator, this time scrambling over it and climbing up the ladder. Then he started to have second thoughts. There was no way he could get the instrument without being seen, and it was most likely flammable. He shoved all of those thoughts out of his head, and kept climbing.

When he got to the top he ran as fast as he could straight past the creatureĺs line of vision, hoping to distract its attention from the man dangling over the edge and the woman trying to help him up. Grabbing the lute from the floor again, he wondered how he was going to defend himself against a fire breathing lizard with something made of wood when a couple of the strings caught on the edge of one of the pieces of still unburnt furniture.

This cause a blast if air to knock him back, almost throwing the instrument out of his hands. He stood up, holding the weapon curiously, before snapping back to reality and turning his attention toward the dragon. Hopefully by now the other two had had time to recover and get away from the edge of the hole.

Cade was, at this point, sort of halfway between puzzling over what had just happened with this instrument, and freaking out about a combination of a giant dragon about to incinerate them all and one of the other travelers about to fall to his demise.

The first of the two problems was solved when he was finally pulled up, but the second only got worse as the dragon reared up into the sky, charging up some kind of high power fire...as if what they'd gotten already wasn't enough.

Before he had time to react sensibly, instincts kicked him and to his horror he found his hands moving toward the strings of the instrument. This was hardly the time to be playing music, and he didn't even know how to use one of these!

However, just before the dragon let loose its raging fires upon the group and the forest, he played one chord. It actually sounded quite good, much to his surprise. Something about the way it was played reached all the other members of the party, and he suddenly felt lighter and less exhausted. the others would get a similar effect.

he did the first thing he could think to do; he ran over to the two standing by the edge. And at abut twice the speed he was used too. This surprised him to say the least, but he found that he'd gotten faster for some reason. Hopefully, they would be fast enough to find shelter before they're burnt to a crisp.

Seeing the smoke forming around the burning wood, Cade remembered hearing something about smoke being more dangerous in a house fire than the actual fire. Then he got an idea.

He tried to find the string on the instrument he'd accidentally plucked earlier. He found it surprisingly easily, somehow being able to tell just from how it sounded.

Playing the note, he sent a wide blast of air. It wasn't very strong, but it was enough to blow a lot of the smoke away. With that, he started making his way toward the ladder, waiting for the others to get there to make sure they got out.

Cade slung the lute over his back and stumbled down the ladder, two rungs at a time.

It seemed the dragon had left, although he had no idea why. Maybe it thinks we're dead, he thought.

He watched as Anton went over to find the now passed Towa. He approached the archer slowly.

"
I agree we need to get out of here soon,
" he said, "
But where do we go? we're completely lost here.
"

"Shouldn't we try to find a town?"
asked Cade,
"I'm pretty sure he mentioned there was one nearby."

He glanced at the deceased gnome.

"Also, if there is then we should let whoever lives there know. And probably bring him there as well."

Cade was about to follow the others, but he noticed that two of them were staying behind to keep watch. He looked down at the weird instrument weapon hybrid thing he'd picked up in the forest earlier, then remembered it had shot out a last of wind when the strings were plucked. He approached the other two.

"I'm not sure how useful I'll be in a fight,"
he said,
"But I think this instrument has some kind of...enchantment or something. It shoots blasts of air when you pull the strings. Given what we've seen so far, I wouldn't be surprised, and it might be useful for you to escape if whatever's coming gets too close. Also I can hit things with it."

Cade seemed to consider the situation they were in. They had three options. Running and fighting were apparently bad choices. then again, the centaurs would probably say that to get them to come along. Alternatively, they could go with them. Considering how dangerous these woods were, perhaps they'd be safer.

"You live in this world, right?"
he whispered to Annie,
"Do you know who they're talking about? Do you think they're enemies?"

Cade had barely had time to take the Centaur's words in before there was a blast of fire. Then everything seemed to be happening in a blur...the shout that they needed to run, hurriedly readying the lute to try and make a blast of air again, the desperate thought that they had to run, as fast as possible, get away, then somehow landing on this particular chord, which rang out in his ears.

Suddenly, he felt a strange lightness, as if some of his weight had been shed. The fatigue that had built up in his legs from walking and standing disappeared without a trace and he felt a surge of adrenaline. All of the others in the group would get this too, and would find that if they ran it would be noticeably faster than before, and their stamina would last longer, too.

If the others were to run, Cade would quickly follow suite.
