This is pretty minor.

Just used my Drakan's Medallion for a clue scroll to scan in Darkmeyer, and noticed I had 9 charges on it. Decided to go to Burgh de Rott first in order to recharge it, which took all of 5 seconds.

So essentially my question is, why bother having charges on it when it provides its own method to recharge it? Seems like a bit of an unnecessary mechanic, especially when you never use any charges so long as you always remember to home teleport to canafis or ectophial before using the medallion.

Support for removing the charges?

Convenience like that shouldn't come so cheap; rather than make something permanent for free, there should be a decent cost to it. Say, since such an operation can cost 1m in OSRS (camulet), accounting for inflation in RS3 (bond price comparison), a fitting cost to make drakan's medallion unlimited would be 8m gp payment to some NPC who then enhances it with permanent charges? Or if you wanted to keep it in the theme, maybe a blood rune payment instead, say, 15k blood runes?

So yeah, no support for outright removal, but for a payment? Could make sense! > )

I can agree with you to a point, but as I said it's already free, it just takes ~5 seconds to recharge using the amulet itself or if you never forget to only use it from inside Morytania you never use charges at all.

As such your cost seems awfully high.

I could accept something like a miniquest but I don't think 8m in order to not have to recharge it is balanced.

By comparison, the camulet requires a tedious operation involving collecting camel dung. I don't think that is really the same as the 5 seconds to recharge Drakan's, which uses a Drakan teleport to arrive at the location, i.e. it recharges itself.

What do you consider better then? Because "a miniquest" can be anything from almost zero work to Architectural Alliance, it's too vague as a word to describe difficulty/length or such.

And yeah, the recharge is fairly quick, but remember: those seconds add up hundreds, thousands of times etc. If you're a high level player who values his time, you can easily pay up the payment I proposed. And if you're not quite there yet, then you're keeping that part of the game relevant. If the cost for permanent charges was too generous, no-one would bother with the actual mechanic, making it dead content.

I'd suggest a quest similar to the GW2 quest to use the teleportation tablets.

On the point about the seconds adding up, you'd have to provide an example of why someone would be repeatedly using up the charges for me to get behind you with this. Most cases I can imagine, such as buying olive oil from Rasmus and banking can all be done without using charges. Also doing barrows and porting to burgh de rott to bank doesn't use charges. I don't know of any purpose to using the meierditch or darkmeyer teleports more than once at a time.

Hmm, that could work, yes.

About the seconds adding up, I forgot to add that I was also counting the time you use if you teleport with ectophial (+carrying the item itself) or home teleport (+money if you use quick teleport charges) to avoid losing charges on the medallion. Since, you know, if the charges were unlimited, you wouldn't have to use those methods to avoid losing charges either.

That's a valid point. For my purposes of clue scrolls, I'm normally carrying the ectophial anyway, but that's not necessarily always the case.
