I havn't played this game in over 10 years. For reasons of nostalgia, I recently got the urge to log on and check out how the game was doing. Upon logging in I notice that the game has undergone some pretty drastic graphical changes. Which is great Im sure, but I wanted to revisit the game I played so long ago.

I find out, that this is actually possible, but for some reason my account/character and all my skills are only accesable in the "new" runescape.

TLRD. Is there a way to acces my character in old Runescape?

Thank you in advance.

To put it another way using your own words. The character you logged into where you saw those drastic changes? That is the old runescape you used to play all those years ago, it's just been updated over the years and this is what it evolved into over time.

So like Tuffty said, if you move the OS you will have to start all over again from scratch.

I've been playing since RSC was the only version of the game and RS2 (what you used to play) since it was released up to now so I could see how coming back after years it would seem alien. But, like I said, RS3 literally is RS2 but it's been updated.

As the others have said Old School Runescape was started in 2013 based on a complete game save from 2007. The caveat was that everyone would need to start from scratch as there was no way to import any characters across.

If it's the feel that you're missing you may wish to try the legacy interface available in settings. It will get away from the abilities bar and give you the feel you remember. However combat wise the damage output won't be the same as those using abilities.

I actually don't understand what you are saying here. So no, it doesn't help. I have never played RS3, thats the point.

So the answer is, there isn't a way to acces my RS2(?) character anymore. It has been updated to RS3 and is therefore not available. Or am I missing something?

RS3 is the OLD game you used to play which is why your items and stats are there. It is not a new game, it has existed since 2004 when it came out as RS2, it is still the same game but is now called RS3 because of updates. The combat has changed and the graphics have been updated over the years but it is the older game you used to play.

Oldschool RuneScape despite the name, is the newer game, released in 2013. It was based on 2007 but is a new game, and did not exist until 2013. Anyone who plays OSRS has to start from scratch because it never existed until 2013.
Hi.

if you havent played in 10 years, then yes you players what is now rs3

think of it as a series

lets go to 2004 assume thats when you started

2004 -------------2008 (when you quit) ------2012--------2019

in 2012 eoc was released. and from that people didnt like change. so a "spin off" series was made that used 07 graphics and combat mechanics. everyone after that in osrs started as new. because its a completely different game

osrs is a spin off of rs3.

its the angel to buffy
the better call saul to breaking bad
torchwood to doctor who
american dad to family guy

the originals are one progressive straight line. (rs3 that was once rsc) osrs is a different line spun off from that original line. where everyone on it started again with no transfer. completely different game

The RS2 you played years ago is now RS3, you'll find your original account there.

The Old School Runescape is not the original game from 2003, it was a backup copy of the game snapshot dated 2007 which Jagex restored as a separate game.

Everybody who logs in to OSRS starts from scratch, as it has no direct continuation from the original RS2 more than a decade ago.
