So finishing up, of course its my fault if i click bad links, download fake stuff, or use not authorized clients, but is jagex duty to protect me from my own foolishness because thats why we pay the membership

No, it's not.

Jagex has already provided all the tools you need. Authenticator. Set up authenticator, and set up two-factor authentication with the email you use for runescape.

The only issue with the authenticator is that Jagex doesn't have a delay for its removal, so if your email is compromised then it's pretty much worthless.

But again, if your email is compromised, then you have bigger things to worry about. Protect your computer first, your email second, and then your runescape account. All of Jagex's security in the world won't help you if your username/password are phished, your account details are social engineered, or your computer is bogged down with malware.

Your prioritization is all wrong. Even if Jagex could magically make your runescape account immune to all that data you've let leak out to hijackers, they'd eventually find their way onto other sites you use. Do you expect every website you visit to babysit you while you run around giving everyone your password?

Start with your computer. Then your email. Then worry about runescape.

I have never used authenticator or that other thing they had, i play on a stupidly ancient system "which they told me won't work anymore" like a year ago or something lol and have never had to worry about my account being compromised and to my knowledge never has been.

"i've never used auth but let me tell you how it sucks"

epic

Auth isn't perfect but as long as your email isn't compromised it means no one else can get onto your account. It's that simple.

Set up 2FA on your email and no one can get in to your email so no one can get onto your account. Easy.

Mui, 2 step e-mail is a useful tool for the e-mail you use. i can't deny that but for Rs, using an e-mail that you don't even need and never need to log in to with a stupidly long pass "written down and stashed in your grandmas purse" is all you need lol
yeah Jagex's auth systems aren't perfect, but if you do re-use your password on other sites, then auth is a great line of protection (assuming you don't use the same pass for your email).

A good friend of mine who is a mod had every possible precaution on the account a couple of years ago and still someone hijacked the account and also bypassed the bank pin within minutes, hijackers, hackers, bot programmers will always be a step ahead of anything Jagex can do " hence Jacmob"

With a RAT or some sort of hacker recording your actions, bankpin is worthless. Same for auth if your email is compromised.

Jagex's auth could be stronger if they had a delay on its removal, but as is it's just -part- of a solution that involves securing your email. Auth is as vulnerable as your email is, essentially.
