Hi,

I'm currently looking forward to start playing runescape after i have decided to try the game.
My friends are playing the old school version, and they have told me that they think it's better, and that runescape 3 is "shitty" nowadays.
I'm not so sure what to play, since i'd rather play the newest version of the game (don't ask me why...), but then i won't be able to play with my friends...
What should i do?

I'm aware of that, but i would like to put my time and effort only on one character and focus it.
So let me rephrase: if you would have to choose between the two, what would it be and why?
You can also state the pros and cons for each version

OP, so you have doubts in your friends? Didn't your friends tell you what they think? And you don't believe them?

They did tell me, but to be honest, the newest version of the game attracts me better...
That's why i don't know what to do and i would like to hear more opinions

If you're looking to play Runescape long term, then I'd go with OSRS, because it has steadily been growing for years now, and you still get the full experience for $11 a month. In comparison, RS3 has been declining in player count for years, and you only get a partial game for that same money, with lots of stuff locked behind MTX, from cosmetics to services, which is looking to get even worse in the future.

In regards to content, there aren't too many differences: both games have good quests, both games have good PvM, both games have similar skilling. RS3 has more modern graphics, but they're also more inconsistent. RS3 has a more "modern" combat system, but it's also suffering from the tick and movement restrictions.

Since you have doubts even with your friends, you really really really need to experience things yourself.

I don't know how total strangers in the forums are more trustworthy than your one's IRL friends. :D:D:D

Both games are enjoyable and really are very different while similar games at this point. Old school is the newest version but based on an earlier version. RS3 is the evolution of the game from 2011 or so.

I would recommend trying both and seeing which one appeals to you. But if all your friends are playing old school, you might want to play with your friends for the most part.

Have fun! =)

You seem to already have stats on your RS3 account from 5 years ago. If starting from scratch in Old School seems too daunting you might want to give RS3 a try. You'll still be able to chat with your friends through PM or a friend's chat

If you'd like to play alongside your friends, then you should probably look to OSRS.
