i think its obvious to everyone that Treassure Hunter is gambling. and it belongs to the predatory monetazation practices such as lootboxes, that should be restricted by the law.

so what do you think Jagex will do when they will be forced to remove said gambling, or raise the game's age rating to 21+?

one possible way is make all the TH items directly purchasable instead of being gambling rewards.
another thing is make all the skilling items untradble and remove all gold rewards

or... you know... start putting effort into the actual game content instead of releasing more bogus MTX every week...

They'll probably try to sell exp directly rather than with gambling, yeah, but because it removes the obscurity from the numbers as well as the addictive nature of gambling, I doubt it's going to be nearly as effective as Treasure Hunter, so their focus will probably shift to the subscription fee as it should be. :P

There will simply be more pressure to buy cosmetics, titles and pets through Solomon's Store. I would expect more limited duration offers and more regular additions.

In addition, more items will become available for bonds only, encouraging their sale as well.

Given that MTX makes up around a third of Jagex's income, I would also expect to see cosmetics sold for OSRS.

That's a baseless worry; Jagex's very own financial statements have shown that even without any MTX revenue, they'd still be making profit with Runescape. In their latest statement, this figure (operating profit - MTX revenue) was roughly 15 million GBP.

They'd do just fine, no need to be afraid. > )

I wouldn't worry too much. Only 1/3 of Jagex's revenue actually comes from MTX. Also, with the player count for rs3 constantly dropping there'll probably only be 10 people online per world when any changes regarding online gambling through TH actually come into play. Forum Help
